Great for grilling. Very fast readout.
Used on Thanksgiving for brined pork chops and venison roast on the grill. Kept me informed of meat temps so meat was done perfectly and not over done. Good value so far. Comes with 2 batteries. Automatically turns on when you rotate the probe away from the handle and shuts off when you rotate it into the handle which saves battery and makes it easy to use. Has a chart right on the handle for rare, mid rare, medium, etc. as well as min temp levels for each type of meat. Only down side is made in China.

Almost more than perfect...
Appears to be a good thermometer. Mostly standard for the type; good form factor, excellent calibration. BUT Water resistant, recalibration capacity, AND on-board spare battery. And thereby hangs a tale. This excellent good feature that I've not seen before could have been done better. Which is why I wasn't looking for a sixth star...

Where has this thing been all my life? I have gone through many thermometers with mostly great disappointment. BUT this one so far is easily the best. Quick read out, very responsive. It feels durable. This was a valuable find.

Quick, easy to use-and read!
This is a great thermometer. It reads very quickly and accurately. I’ve only used it on meat so far, but plan to use on baked goods and when checking the temp of reheated foods in the microwave. I’ve had many digital thermometers over the years and this is the best one. The probe is sharp and easily pierces meat for quick temp checks. It turns on/off when you move the probe from its resting slot. The display is brightly lighted and easy to read. If you need to take a temp several times, just wipe it off and return to the closed position. Another nice feature is the most common meat temps for how well you like your meat cooked is printed on the probe. A handy chart is also included along with a spare battery. Both a very nice touch! I can’t imagine cooking or baking without a thermometer and I definitely recommend this one.

Must have meat thermometer
While shopping for instant read meat thermometers I ran across the one that speaks and I'm glad I bought this. Being able to read the screen is not always easy and this feature is great! It is truly instant read! If you already have your finger on the button when you insert the probe you don't have to worry about turning the screen towards you. It seems very accurate.

You gotta try this one!
Whether for an 8lb. prime Rib Roast, Bison Steaks or Chicken on the grill, I over the years have used various analog and digital meat thermometers with varying degrees (no pun intended) of satisfaction....frankly analog are just too slow and while the digital units I have owned and used were quicker to read the temperature of the meat, I have found them to be of varying quality eventually failing or starting to give weird temp readings....then I found this GDEALER thermometer....what an outstanding tool for the grill-master!!! I don't use the voice function (it does work), but what really stands out is the quick (really 1-2 seconds) accurate readings I am getting...I believe it's accuracy is because the temperature sensor is only in the very tip of the probe giving one a reading exactly from where you place the tip of the probe in the meat...not an average temp from a probe that has a sensor that goes from the tip up the probe a ways. Well made and an incredible price...even comes with batteries. I highly recommend!!!!

Magnet feature is too weak for fridge
The location of the temperature change button is slightly annoying. I end up switching to Celsius on accident while I'm holding it. Also when the auto shut-off kicks in I tended to hit the buttons instead of folding and opening the meter. This also changes the meter mode in addition to turning back on. Note that only the tip is waterproof. When the battery cover is removed the PC board is clearly visible. At a $10 price tag I kind of expected that. The meter comes preset and was accurate within one degree of the ice water test and boiling test. It does feature a magnet oh, but the meter is too heavy to stick to the fridge without falling down. Fortunately it fits perfectly on top of the logo bezel on my refrigerator. Worst case scenario you can get a stronger rectangular magnet and use it as a setting point on a refrigerator. Not ideal but for the price point I can't complain.

The talking thermometer is a hit with me!
I finally read the instructions on my talking digital thermometer. I had been putting it off as I was fearful that it would be too complicated for me to understand. I worried for nothing. It couldn't be simpler. The directions were quite clear -- especially since they included pictures. The thermometer lights up, it talks, it alerts you to the exact temperature of the food or liquid item. That will be so helpful as there will no longer be guesswork involved. I will know to the exact degree how hot or cold my food item is. The seller got it to me promptly and in great condition. Thanks!

Excellent thermometer with a ton of extras
Who says you can’t have it all?! I got this thermometer because I was looking for something inexpensive to check the wellness of burgers, chicken, etc. This fit the bill perfectly. It does the job and has a ton of extras for the price including a backlight, audible reading of your temperature, and automatic on and off. I love it, use it often, and couldn’t be happier that I didn’t have to spend more to get what I needed. If I had to nitpick, I would say it can be slow in getting the actual temperature, it is larger than my last thermometer (this can be good or bad depending on your preferences), and I wish it had a chart of ideal temperatures for various meats like my last thermometer did. These are so minor though they don’t even warrant dropping the rating at all.

What's not to love?
Just got this a week ago and so far I'm very impressed. Works perfectly out of the box and the voice readout is really cool. I haven't used it on the BBQ yet but the voice should be a really helpful feature when reaching toward the back of the grill. Accurate readout takes about 5-6 seconds which is pretty quick, and the build seems very sturdy. Time will tell how it holds up in the long run. Love the positive click of the blade into the handle which turns the thermometer off. It also has a backlight for the LED readout, which is plenty large enough for my old eyes. Can’t imagine why someone would spend 6-7 times as much for the brand they recommend on America’s Test Kitchen – really?
