Works perfectly- Synology NAS compatible
I have only had this for a week. I have not yet physically installed it outside to look at my drive which is my intention, but have been playing with it indoors and connected it to my Synology NAS. It has so far worked perfectly. It has excellent resolution, nightvision has a long range. Most important to me, it works flawlessly with my NAS surveillance system. It can be set up to be triggered by motion or fully pre-programmed. Dumps videos or images into a surveillance folder with date & time stamps. It is possible to put a micro-SD card in it for internal memory in case network connection is lost. It has a nice phone app that allows you to do live view and change camera settings. It is quite well made. So far very satisfied. Since I wrote the above review, I installed it and nothing has happened to change my review above. This camera is robust in its construction and operation. What I also found out is that Amcrest offer their own cloud server to save the files. I have not used it so I cannot make any additional comments.

Great camera
I bought 4 cameras to use with the Surveillance Station on my Qnap NAS. Two POE and two wireless. I started looking for compatible cameras at the Qnap website and after reading many reviews I opted for the Amcrest cameras. Installation was very easy, much easier than expected. I was expecting to spend a couple of hours installing the cameras to my system but it took me literally 5 minutes each. I just downloaded the Amcrest app from the App store to my iphone and followed the instructions. You just read a QR code with your phone's camera, setup a password and that's it. Making Surveillance Station access the camera was a little more tricky but also very easy. I downloaded "Amcrest IP Config" free from Amcrest's website and ran it to find the IP of the cameras. That's all I needed to make Surveillance Station find the cameras. And the quality of the image is really very good, very clear. The night vision is also better than expected and the motion detector works very well so the camera only records when there is movement. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Great quality camera
Fast setup, the wifi has a good range and a great picture. I was able to add it to my network of different cams all recording to my server. I opted to host my camera on dyndns because that's where I have my other cameras, no problem with setting it up. The view from the camera is great, it's wide enough to cover almost the entire yard, and with the digital zoom you really don't need a pan and tilt. It's construction is solid, made for outdoors and it is designed so that no matter how you mount it it will remain weather proof. I will be changing my older cameras out for Amcrest soon. The only downside I can say is that they will not load or run in Chrome, you have to use IE if you want to use a browser. I did not use Amcrest software because I was adding it to my network and already had ContraCam installed I just used it, but I played around with Amcrest's software and the camera comes with an impressive array of software that should be enough to get you up and running.

This camera is the the best you can get for the money.
This camera is the the best you can get for the money at the moment. The quality of the picture and the wide angle lens really make the difference. If I was a plug and play guy willing to pay for amcrestcloud.com cloud service (4hr/per cam is free) there is no any issues setting this camera for less then 10 minutes but I'm not. So here is my story. After spending countless hours with Amcrest firmware downgrading and upgrading I think I can answer any question you may have. The latest firmware V2.400.AC01.15.R upgraded properly it has just one issue so far - can't rename the device (not big deal for me). Setting up recording to FTP server will return a fail message after pressing the test button if the FTP is Microsoft IIS FTP, but in reality it's actually working. If you're using Filezilla FTP server there is no fail message. There is no any issues recording to sandisk sd card. This camera has multi stream output. Main - you can set it up with the highest quality for recording and Sub stream for monitoring from mobile device set to lower quality for fast access. Amcrest mobile application always connects to the sub stream. The night vision is B&W but with outstanding quality and distance. The pictures I'm attaching are desktop screenshots they are not the actual quality that's coming from the camera.

High quality camera for the price.
This review is posted across all the products in this system because this is a system review rather than just one of the pieces. I purchased the bullet camera, in black, from a Deal of the Day to see if it would be a good candidate to replace my 7 year old Lorex system. I have since purchased one dome (956) and two bullet (943) cameras in white, along with their 4108 NVR. My application is for outdoor use only to monitor my property. I like them enough to replace my 640x480 wireless Lorex system that had a DVR and three cameras. Going from 640x480 to 2304x1296 is a gain of about 9x in number of pixels. The colors from Amcrest is more saturated and is adjustable but I've left them as they came. These are the things I don't like about Amcrest: 1. Setting up the cameras is always a lesson in frustration and it may be partly my fault since I keep thinking I need to use the password I want to use instead of the default first. I always start with Ethernet configuration but the wifi name never seem to be listed. So I switch back and forth between Ethernet and Wifi configuration until I get to work with Ethernet. 2. Lack of clear documentation sucks. Plain and simple. This leads to most of the things I don't like about the system. 3. The event/motion setup on the Android mobile app setup is confusing. The meaning of the icons is not obvious. The "hand" one doesn't seem to do anything. So I just use the PC or Mac Surveillance Pro program or the the NVR setup instead which gives me four mask settings. 4. The interface between platforms isn't in sync. a. There is limited functionality in the mobile app as compared to the programs and NVR interface. b. Rotation of the camera view on the mobile app is a nightmare with its confusing icons. Clear in Surveillance Pro on the PC. Clear via the NVR interface. Missing on the Mac. c. Night vision enable/disable is clear on the app but does not seem to be available in Surveillance Pro on the PC or Mac. It's available on the NVR but is more complicated. d. Main video stream disable/enable is only available on the mobile app., but for some reason while setting the video stream parameters on the Mac, one of my cameras' main video stream was disabled. I only found out that was the problem using the mobile app because I can connected to the camera but get no video on the NVR, which defaults to the main video stream while the mobile app defaults to the substream video and I get video on the app but not the NVR! e. Because my purpose is for outdoor applications, the motion event blocks are too large. I wish they were smaller. So my threshold setting is low, 1 - 4 most of the time, depending on how close I want to trigger a motion event. 5. On the dome camera, because there is the dome, car or street lights create a streak in the image. Headlights will set off a motion event. 6. On the dome camera, limited angle adjustment vs. the bullet camera. I mounted mine upside down on a horizontal surface so the angle will only give me so much sky because of this limitation. Your mileage may vary depending on how it's mounted. 7. No mobile, 2.5", hard drive mounting capability in the NVR. 8. Event viewing is a bit clunky across all platforms. Worst via the NVR interface. But I've learned to deal with it. If there are any glitches in the playback, it's in how it was recorded, not the device's fault. Verified it when I extracted the video and played it on the PC. 9. Selecting the camera to view as the main screen during playback on the mobile app can be challenging. Must be the sensitivity of the app. This affects the bottom disappearing menu that doesn't seem to have a clear way to display in landscape mode once it goes away. All I do is turn the phone to portrait to get it back before rotating the phone back to landscape. No system is perfect but I love my new Amcrest system. The one problem I had initially was with the mobile app but it turned out it was caused by the crowded 2.4 GHz channel my router was using. Whenever I added a camera, the app would only connect to the latest camera. Very frustrating. When I was away, like at work, I couldn't connect up to any cameras. So with a free network analyzer app, I found that in my house channels 1, 6, and 11 were the crowded channels. After setting my router to use channel 3, all my connection issues went away and have been perfect ever since for over a week. These are the things I love about Amcrest: 1. Storage of recordings the way I want. On microSD or NVR, or both. My number two on the list. 2. Files storage is very efficient. Over ten days with four cameras, it's used 29 GB of space with aggressive motion detection. I have a 160 GB mobile hard drive in the NVR. I won't need to purchase terabyte hard drives for this application. I use mobile hard drives because they are quieter than desktop hard drives. 3. High resolution. Much higher than my Lorex cameras. 4. Clear, saturated color picture. 5. IP67 with all the o-rings and gaskets included. The one for the antenna is to got outside on the male end rather than inside the female end. But I've used it in the female end just fine. I also use silicone tape to make sure everything is water tight. 6. Wide view at 100 degrees, much wider than my old Lorex, which was less than 60 degrees, I believe. 7. Ease of mounting. Dome camera came with a template. Bullet camera is all connected as one. 8. Reasonable price. They are about half the price as my old Lorex cameras which were prone to disconnection. No disconnections or resets have been required thus far. 9. Cameras can be set up to auto sync for time at an interval of your choosing. Same with the NVR. 10. Cameras can set set up to automatically change for Daylight Saving. Same with the NVR. 11. Auto-maintenance to reset the the cameras at an interval of your choosing. Same with the NVR. 12. Auto-maintenance to delete files at an interval of your choosing. Same with the NVR. I set mine to delete after 30 days. 13. Customizable almost everything like bit rate and frame rate, video flip, mirror, and rotate, color saturation, night mode auto or off, color or black and white. Hard wire Ethernet or wireless. Naming of the channels, though it's a little obscure and one field is local to the application used rather than a global setting. Again, documentation will go a long way in understanding how that actually works. 14. Although playback is a bit clunky, it's much better than my old Lorex system which was in list format over multiple pages. This is in a timeline format much like you'd see with the Nest but not as easy to select. 15. Not affected by the brightness of the sun. My old Lorex camera would go on the fritz just with the sun reflecting off the lawn, with most of the picture showing solid blocks of color, triggering motion events continuously. It was worst with snow on the ground. 16. Solidly built cameras. Feels very high quality. 17. Most importantly, it's reliable. Every morning when I turn on the monitor, there are my four cameras working with synchronized time. I have a four camera system because I liked the cameras and picture quality so much. With the Lorex, three cameras was all I could put up with. Plus, they were expensive. It was a "good enough" system. Now I have a great system that's pleasing to view at a great price point.

Good picture quality and good set of features.
This was my 2nd unit. I bought the first one because I wanted an IP camera that has two critical feature I care about: 1) has a SD to store video in situations where there is no wifi. The video is saved on SD and I can view later. I haven't tested this yet, but the feature is there when I need it (if wifi goes down). 2) This camera can be configured to save video using FTP (and NAS). This means the remote camera can save to my own FTP site (or my own NAS server) rather than needing to pay/subscribe to some video cloud storage service. This feature works well. Video quality is very good. Features like motion detect are good as well as the ability to get email notifications of motion detect is great. I have the email go to my verizon vtext.com email address which then causes me to get a text message of motion. Negatives (minor to me, but maybe not to you...): 1) The video stored on my FTP server is a bunch of .mp4 video files in a logical directory structure. However, there's no app that organized the videos in an easy way to view. You literally have to use windows explorer and navigate to the .mp4 files and view them by clicking each individually. this is not a big deal if you do not look at the video often. 2) The camera can be accessed/setup via chrome browser by typing in the ip address of the camera. This gives access to configuation type menus. Great! However, if you want to hav a "live" view of the camera, you have to install a chrome plugin from amcrest. not a big deal. HOWEVER, the plugin doesn't now enable the video to show up on the chrome browser window. Instead, it allows you to launch a "chrome app" where the camera menus can be navigated and live view viewed. So to run the app you have to go to Chrome's "Apps" menu (took me forever to find it) and then click on the Amcrest app link, then you can log in and get all the features. I don't understand why I can't just type in the IP address of the camera and get all the features as the app. Annoying, but ultimately it works. 3) There IS an Amcrest Android App. However, it's useless unless you have a cloud account with them. I was hoping it would allow me to view the camera live from my phone just on my wifi net or if I opened up ports on my router, but I didn't see a way to do that. You have to have a cloud account with AMCREST. So do you homework if you hope this will have feature rich smartphone support. I'm disappointed in this area, but that's not why I bought it. So I bought my first camera to test and make sure it had the features I wanted. My goal is to replace my dedicated anlog camera DVR system with ip cameras that store on my home NAS server. Now that I know it meets my needs, I bought a second and plan to buy more.

If you need a wide angle view this might be the one for you.
I originally bought this to get better resolution so I could push in on video down the driveway when needed. What you get is roughly equivalent to 1080p resolution but about 1.5 times as wide and high. So looking down a long drive for instance is kind of a waste because you are gaining angle not resolution. But if you are looking out over a yard it is great. For instance the these Escam Brick Qd900 Wifi(qd300wifi Hd1080p) P2p Cloud Wifi Ip Camera H.264 Dual Stream 3.6mm Lens Ir Range 15m Waterproof Onvif Compliant with Ir Cut Support Day/night pictures of my bird feeder and the same from Amcrest ProHD Outdoor 3-Megapixel (2304 x 1296P) WiFi Wireless IP Security Bullet Camera - IP67 Weatherproof, 3MP (1080P/1296P), IP3M-943W (White). The last two pics are in a location where it really shines as it makes full use of the extra vertical resolution. Notice too the low light sensitivity with less grain than the QD900. It costs about twice as much as the QD900 but you would need a couple QD900s to cover the same area so that is a wash. Bandwidth might be and issue though. When connection to Blue Iris for example it seems to add at least double the load of the 1080p QD900 despite being only 1.44 times the pixels. Also the mount can be a bit restrictive. The only mount adjustments are rotation and a 90 degree joint.

Fantastic 3 Megapixel camera you can mount almost anywhere.
Finally. The Industry has finally gotten to the high-res and reliable camera packages for Outdoor use! I've already installed this thing and love it's response. The wide field and long-range focus is awesome. Color response, even at night, is fantastic. Black and White modes for day and night are available. Recommend wired configuration, then use the red end to close the hole for the network wire enclosure. This camera gets a playback image just about as good at full-res, low compression as it does at it's lowest level. Very impressive. Color accuracy at night is perfect. Haven't worked with B/W modes much, but they looked great with or without IR (can be turned off, but only available in B/W mode). It is possible to digital zoom on iPhone/Android/Windows(FireFox) without affecting other viewers or the recordings (not like the PTZ camera). Haven't identified the WiFi range, but with a removable antenna, you can add another one, Especially if you need to route it away from animals eating it. Definitely handles high-speed connections.. I am pulling over 1000kbps over wifi directly. Only 2.4GHz, though.. still, not bad. With a MicroSD Card in a water-resistant removal panel hiding it, it can self-store footage. not sure how much yet.. but there are other options. You can record Full Time or Trigger Events for Full time or Events only and to each media choice separately, which includes SDCard, FTP and NAS Services. So you can record full time on the SD Card (Up to 64GB), and send trigger shots to FTP. This is fantastic! Allows me to add remote-notification displays using my VT-NET Environment. First time installation might take a few tries, as the interface is well designed, but not quite as well programmed. If you have to, use an OTG, Network adapter on your phone to install it. Haven't tried this, but I will if I move the camera again.. Yes, you can use OTG to connect your phone or tablet to a network directly. I use mine as a diagnostic device. works great when WiFi has issues. :-) In the world of outdoor cameras, this has the clearest view, fairly long range, and a great wide angle (105°). You can program up to 4 detection maps, allowing you to handle long distance areas and up-close areas, or block out traffic. A Lens flare effect will cause issues with night motion, as will critters and bugs. Very stable for full-time Firefox monitoring (as I have done lately). The Camera has a standard barrel power connector at 12V ½A, but came with a 12V 2A power supply (center positive) just in case. I believe this had PoE, but I don't have an injector to test it with, and I don't know if the passive ones I have are compatible. I will have access to PoE equipment soon, so I will update this review when I find out. the power cord is noticeably longer than cords I've seen in the past, somewhere from 6-8 feet long. Didn't actually measure it, as I didn't need the distance at it's current installation. If you can afford a little more, the 4 Megapixel camera might be recommended, but this works awesome compared to all the systems I have ever worked with, including NetGears ArloCam (won't allow automated download, store in cloud for 1 month only), Bunker Hill/NightOwl and 14 others (major software compatibility and stability issues, as well as Q-See camera systems. Q-See camera systems have been my favorite for a while, as they are a great wired system, and installation is quite easier than most, except when it comes to their Digital (QAM) cameras. So far, I haven't found a great way to tell which is in the box (Analog or Digital), and I've been wrong a few times.. If it's digital, the cameras are less forgiving than analog cameras are for power and signal requirements.. and I haven't found a cheap device to test them yet, either. If you get one, get the SD Card, and I highly recommend 64G. If you ever have an incident, you can quickly download the video using the playback utility.. a little hard to explain for first timers, but it simplifies downloading greatly. I have had some issues with recompiling the video for comparison and time-syncing with other types of feeds (frames compile out of order). and worst case, you can record directly from the screen using a program like BandiCam. I've had issues with them not keeping my other installation activated, but my main system has done well and makes it easier to provide to local law enforcement. I am looking forward to adding one to my car soon, with a modified power supply of course.
