Yes they worked for us
I am not sure if these are even still available? I got my first pack and loved them so much went back to order more and they were out of stock? NO! We bought these to tend to our garden while we were gone for 4 days in the Utah summer heat-think high 90's and with very low humidity. When we got back plants were still upright and looking fine-not wilted and dried like they have been in the past missing a few days of watering. They work for us just fine. Make sure to soak fully for 48 hours before using.

The secret to luring gnomes into your yard.
These things is the bomb! I no longer have chores because these stakes water the plants for me. World hunger watch out. Terracotta plant watering steaks will end you! An added plus is that for a little while I looked like less of an alcoholic because all the wine bottles I went through were used to beautify my lush yard and garden. Yep, I transformed my lush vice into a lush virtue and now I have luscious lettuce I love. With a large rubber band they can also double as unicorn horns at children's parties. Get one for all your friends and second cousins. When you do, they will treat you like first cousins, and if you live in a small town you might even develop a floundering awkward romance. Cheers!

They work!
I was going to be away for 12 days and I have a few plants that are bone dry after 7 days so I thought I’d try these Spikes. The key is to soak them in water overnight so they’re really waterlogged then place the bottle of water in and put into the plant dirt at least half way up the spike. I used a glass root beer bottle. I’m definitely going to use them again.

Works Well Kept Plants Moist
Bought these to cover plants while away/vacationing and such. Soaked them for a couple of days first and gathered empty wine bottles. The bottles fit perfect, used green beer bottles in my hanging baskets because wine bottles were too big, and they work as well. Have them in three hanging baskets, one Boston Fern planter and one near a huge Iris in the ground. They appear to be working as after 5 days (in Texas) all the plants seem to be doing well and had adequate water while we were away. Just be sure to "open" a place for them in the plant. I used the thing you sharpen knives with, that long tapered sword like thing. I pushed it into the center of the plant and rotated it a little to make an opening for the terracotta stake. They are quite big, larger than I expected, maybe 7+" long and about 2+" diameter at the top. You need to get it into the soil well so that the water can be absorbed. I don't think (depending on the plant) you could just push them in by hand, as they may break. I would definitely buy again.

Perfect shipping technic! Will remain with this company.
I turned to this more expensive brand that has 6 spikes- buying 2 boxes- not one was chipped or broken when they arrived. Inside the boxes all spikes where nestled in tight styrofoam. Which was the ONLY problem with the company I bought 4 boxes W/4 spikes each. Of those 16 spikes only 4 where useable. Plus, I just noticed this company lowered their price from $19+ to $14+ I am buying 2 more boxes as these will travel securely for plants I take on the road in our motorhome!. An average [emptied & cleaned] wine bottle lasts over a week to empty. Be very careful removing the bottle, I did chip one spike & threw it away. My fault. I love these. In my largest plants, I can no longer lift, I currently have 2 spikes in each.. I'm working up too using 4 bottles in the largestest plants. [Collecting empties from family wine drinkers lol] The 6" plants hold 1 bottle fine. I think these are great. I used those colorful watering bulbs for years & they where a hassle to clean-refill along with emptying too quickly. Until something even better shows up then these smart spikes, ill stuck with these. I highly recommend these spikes, SHIPPED PROPERLY!! I did not get paid for this review, nor approached by any company to ever do so. Nor did I receive anything free or for reduced pricing. This is an honest review by a satisfied customer. Happy watering!!

Love these things for my outdoor pots!
I was skeptical as I've purchased many of these before locally at much higher prices so didn't expect these to work as well. I love the way these look in my outdoor containers with wine bottles. These are the same quality as the more expensive ones. You will need to be gentle with them and not force your bottles in as they will break. I've learned that the hard way with the expensive ones. They keep my plants in pots hydrated; I notice the bottles remain full when it's already wet from rain but on hot days it really will empty out. So I keep wine bottles rotating and filling daily as needed which is much easier (and prettier) than getting the hose out.

Save your plants!
Keep your plants alive while you are gone on vacation or just give them some extra water throughout the day. I bought both a set of these terra-cotta ones and the plastic ones. The plastic ones do not work at all! Spend the few extra buck and get these. The terra-cotta slowly releases the water.

Works like it's supposed to
I live in the Sonoran Desert and the sun can be quite harsh come late spring and summer. I bought these for some outdoor garden plants while I was gone for a week. I put wine bottles in them and they really do the trick. I bought it as a temporary solution but I'm going to use them all summer to help some garden plants from drying out in the harsh summer sun.

These things are fantastic. Living in the Central Valley of Ca
These things are fantastic. Living in the Central Valley of Ca., I never could figure out exactly how much to water my tomato plants. Using these has eliminated the guesswork. Evidently, I have always way over-watered them, as they have used maybe a pint of water in 8 days, but the plants look healthier than I have ever had. Great product

Great watering assistant
These were great helpers in my pots and hanging planters. The fuschias continued blooming beautifully all summer, and the vegetable pots where I grew lettuce and chard are still producing food for the table after being moved into the greenhouse. I used 2-liter pop bottles with no problem. Drain hole lication makes it easy to close off with a finger or thumb after refilling it.
