Upgraded Valve Cover Works!!!
Just finished installing this Dorman 264-969 Driver Side Valve Cover on my 2007 Chevy Suburban with 5.3L engine. This product is well made and fit my truck beautifully. This product is the upgraded design with the relocated square baffle for the pcv vent to minimize the excessive oil consumption issue. I recommend cleaning off any debri on and around your old valve cover before you remove it from the engine. Also clean your push rods by spraying throttle body or carburetor cleaner down the push rods. This should free up your lifters as well. Then add a little oil on top of the rocker arms and push rods to lube those areas before installing the new valve cover. Engine sounds quieter. Check YouTube for videos.

Revised/Updated PCV - a must-do for all smoking-on-startup 5.3 Chevys!
My '07 Suburban was blowing serious blue smoke at startup. At 250k I was ready to throw in the towel and deal with an engine with tired rings or valve seals. I had read about replacing the driver's side valve cover with an updated version, and that it had eliminated clouds of blue smoke at startup and greatly reduced oil consumption. I was very skeptical. But for less than $75 and under 30 minutes to install, I figured it couldn't hurt to try. This worked for me. I couldn't believe it. No more clouds of smoke at startup. I'll be measuring my oil consumption over time, but I'm sure consumption has gone down considerably. Like the factory part, this is cast aluminum. It is made in China, but fit perfectly. It came with the gasket and after 300+ miles, no leaks.

No more smoke!
I bought this valve cover because my 2009 Chevy Silverado kept smoking on startup after it sat for a while and it was consuming a lot of oil. Replacing the cover was simple, took me about 30 minutes. Right after i replaced it, it still smoked, but I believe that was due to some oil that remained in the PCV line. Now there is no more smoke what so ever! Glad I Purchased this! Hopefully the oil consumption issue is fixed as well. This cover has the new hold design. Mine arrived in perfect condition and did not have the stress cracks that others mention. Original is made in Mexico, Dorman is China. See pictures attached.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 5.3 liter and it had been smoking at start up every morning and also fowling spark plugs especially the #1 plug. I was also having issues with O2 sensors on the driver side failing along with the catalytic converter failing on the driver side. My truck has 291,000 plus miles on it and I was thinking the rings were shot. Checked around on YouTube and came across this possible fix and for 73 dollars and some change. It was worth the shot to see if it would correct the issues I was seeing. After changing the valve cover I had no more smoke at start ups in the morning or after it had sat idle for a few hours. I went from adding 1 quart of oil every 700 to 800 miles to having not to add any oil at all. The issue is the PCV valve is fixed in the valve cover and can not be replaced on its own. The PCV valve sticks open pulling oil into the the intake manifold which was fouling my spark plugs and would burn off at start up causing the blue/gray smoke. I went from thinking I needed to buy a new truck to thinking I might get another 300,000 miles out of it. Runs great now with no issues. It was worth the purchase. Make sure you take your time installing the valve cover and not letting the gasket get out of place and causing a unwanted oil leak. Plenty of YouTube videos out there showing how to make this easy repair.

No more oil consumption and smoke.
Absolutely cured the dreaded smokey/crop dusting/mosquito killing machine I was driving! Its listed as not fitting my vehicle, IT DEFINITELY Does. Installed on a 2008 suburban LTZ with the 5.3L. 10mm and a 8mm sockets/ratchet and a small extension along with a small screwdriver to pop the main harness from the coil packs were all the tools needed. I did add some ultra black RTV gasket maker between the valve cover and seal to keep it from falling out while bumping it around th o reinstall.

Disappearing or burning oil? This IS your fix
2010 Tahoe started blowing smoke after being parked for short periods of time. A bit of research led to a pcv failure integrated in the valve cover. This item was the revised part number required to fix the issue, and prevent similar occurrences in the future. This IS the correct part to resolve the 5.3 engine oil consumption issues. The truck would burn 3-4 quarts every 3k( never saw smoke or leaks), I cannot see any missing oil during my services after the change. Fix was immediate after replacement

Very satisfied
My 5.3L engine was burning about 2 quarts of oil before my 3000 mile oil change and was smoking like a forest fire every time I cranked it. I installed this replacement valve cover a few months ago and have been really pleased with the change it’s made. Still consuming a little oil but nothing like before and the smoke on startup is gone completely. If nothing else, it was worth the trouble of changing it to eliminate the smoky starts.

Cleared up smoke on start up
Not sure why they only list this for the newer LS motors. I used it on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L. It is the newest update design to help with oil consumption through the pcv valve and should fit all years of 4.8l, 5.3l and 6.0l LS as far as I know. I have used part # 264-965 before as well on other vehicles and both worked to stop The engine from smoking when started. It included new gasket, grommet seals and even new bolts. It comes out of the box ready to install and can be installed in about 15 minutes start to finish on a Silverado, a little longer on an express van since you have to take the engine shroud off to gain access.

Fixed GM V8 Smoking Problem, Fit Perfectly
I had the problem of oil consumption and smoking on startup of my 2009 Silverado with a 4.8 and only 89,000 kilometers. Installing this driver's side valve cover solved both issues immediately. We realized what was going on when I was changing my oil. Due to excessive crankcase pressure, when the drain pug was removed, the oil emptied itself 4 feet beyond the drain pan until it was all drained, in record time.

Highly recommend to fix oil burning on startup
Stopped my oil burning issue, 2008 Avalanche. Update. Even though I have no more oil burn at startup, my catch can that I had installed took a lot longer to fill. It filled up about 2/3 over a much longer time period and since the oil in there wasn't getting hot and moisture wasn't evaporating, it became 'milky'. This is no issue with the back cover. I do believe this oil would have entered the air intake and burned during driving, not startup, as the system is designed. The catch can merely caught oil that was designed to go into the intake during heavy acceleration when the hot air in the engine is pulled into the intake through the valve cover pcv. At least that my understanding of how this all works. Overall, great product, good fit and reduced oil consumption, that's for sure!!
