This IR Flashlight does EXACTLY what it was designed to do!
Product arrived quickly, and in excellent condition, exactly as advertised. I have read comments on other IR light sources which complain about not being able to tell if they are working, dimness of the beam even if the reviewer knows enough to check whether it is working using a digital camera, and the fact that it does still emit a "red glow", and I would like to address/dispel these comments based on my experience with this product. First, this flashlight works exactly as advertised. You MUST use a digital camera to verify that it is working, since the beam is invisible to the human eye, again, as advertised. Even in fully lighted rooms, you can see, using the digital camera, the spot the beam produces if you hold it close to a wall or other surface, and if you shine the light directly at the camera, you see a bright flash. In full darkness, the beam did not appear to light up the room from what I could see with the digital camera on my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, and this is what I suspect leads other commenters to conclude that the beam is dim. However, what you must keep in mind is that digital cameras come with built in IR filters which would obviously reduce the amount of IR light the camera is able to "see", making the beam appear dimmer than expected, despite the fact that it is likely functioning properly. I have not dismantled the camera on my phone to remove the IR filter, and I do not own actual night vision goggles, so I can't say for sure that the beam is significantly brighter when viewed with an un-IR filtered camera, but I am pretty sure that it would be significantly brighter. Lastly, in regards to the "red glow", the LED for this product does appear black/dark when off and "red" when on, however it DOES NOT produce a "red glow" in the same way that even a dim/small visible light LED does. I think this point of confusion comes down to us not really having words in English to adequately express what IR LED's look like when on. The red color you see when it is on is much more like the color than a stove top coil takes on as it heats up, just before it becomes "red hot". You can see a stove coil turn red before it heats up to max, and that subtle change in color is what you actually see when the LED is on. Further, while you can see it turn red, you really have to be looking directly at it AND know what you are looking for to even notice the change. The average person, with no idea that it is an IR flashlight, would have no idea that it was on. Even someone who knew it was an IR flashlight, but didn't know what to expect, or wasn't looking directly at it, probably would not notice that it was on, either. In other words, this product does exactly what it was designed to do. The only limitations are with respect to the end user and their ability to recognize/determine that this product is in fact doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Can't beat it for the price. I attached it to my IR monocular to increase it's viewing distance. With the adjustable beam, I can concentrate the light to cover the area the monocular covers providing me a better illumination. I am happy with it. The entire kit is included so it is just a matter of charging the battery and start using it.

For the price. Its great.
I love all the extra accessories it comes with. I just mainly bought it for the IR flashlight so it is a PLUS for me! The light does reach kinda far. Idk if as advertised but its kinda far for me. I can view the light in the dark with my smartphone/android, Galaxy S9+. About 2 feet though.. but I am sure it is because the phone has a IR filter on it's camera. But anyways.. Worth buying! I recommenddddddd!

Works fine when used with proper night vision equipment.
This light works just find, but it is far IR so you can not see the light with your naked eye unless you look very close in a darkend room. I noticed a review where the reviewer noted the light got warm but they could not see it so it must not work. It is a night vision light and the whole idea is you can not see it with out proper night vision equipment that is sensetive to the 950 wave length.

I think this little guy does a great job. It's tough
I think this little guy does a great job. It's tough, durable metal and it's very bright in the IR spectrum. Having the ability to focus the beam allows you to illuminate objects out a hundred yards or more. It does look like a red LED, though, so if you are using it for security the bad guys might notice you. I also happened to find a another fun use for it. I just happened to get mine around Halloween and I found that many of my automated creatures are IR activated. I can stand quite far away and discreetly flick my IR flashlight at them and they come to life! The beam isn't visible so it looks like your zombies/skeletons, etc have a mind of their own! You can appear to have a conversation with them or command them to come to life! It's a real hoot!

Works quite nicely to add extra light for my Bushnell Equinox Night ...
Works quite nicely to add extra light for my Bushnell Equinox Night Vision Monocular, plus it uses 18650 batteries (three AAAs in an adapter, IIRC), so it saves my monocular batteries quite a bit. It came with a the Picatinny mount, so I used that to quickly/easily mount it on my Monocular's rail.

100 yards with ease
I’v Got 2 1/2 acres, and just bought some night vision goggles, gen 1-2 quality with color capability. This lights the night up for the goggles, and I get a clear view of what’s out in my yard, and beyond.

great
the only visible light it gives of is a very dim red off the bulb itself if your not close to it you can't see anything. it doesn't emit any light thats visible to the human eye works great i wish it had more range (I'm using it while looking through my infrared dslr camera) The quality feels better then all those other cheap flash lights but no where near maglight

Good for security cameras; not good for cell phone cameras; and some minor caveats
I've learned a bit about IR flashlights as a result of this purchase. First, this is the "IR-850" (printed on the side) because it outputs 850 nm light. I bought it for use with cell phone/tablet cameras, but it turns out that they typically have very poor response to this wavelength; for those, you probably want the "IR-940" (or a similar model from another company), with 940 nm output (which I'm about to order). TV remotes, for example, are typically in the 940 nm range, so they show up well in cell phone cameras, and in fact are about as bright as this flashlight in those cameras. Security cameras often use 850 nm, like this flashlight, and my cheap dashcam sees this flashlight well - much brighter than its built-in IR LEDs in night mode. I don't know how well it would work with night vision goggles or scopes - that probably depends on what range of wavelengths they are sensitive to. Note that the LED does produce a dim red light when it's on. It's dimmer than a typical red 'on' LED on many electronic devices, but it's a little larger. It's visible about 30 degrees off-axis when the beam is at its maximum width; only a few degrees when it's at its most focused. (So if this is on, anyone/anything that it is illuminating can probably see the dim (human-visible) light, if that matters to you.) The build quality seems very solid and durable. I dropped it on a thinly-carpeted floor from waist-high several times, and it still works (but I'm not really *trying* to break it). Mine doesn't have 3 or 4 LED chips, as some others have discussed; it's more like a square composed of 12 closely-spaced horizontal lines (like venetian blinds), with an elongated diamond shape missing in the middle. So it's more like one square, which has the same area as 3 or 4 of the smaller square LEDs in the product's example photo. None of that really matters to me. The flashlight is zoomable (by just pushing/pulling the lens forward/backward), which helps concentrate the output, but it might be important to some people that at the tightest focus, you don't get a circle of light; you get a square that is the exact shape of the LED (square with an elongated diamond cut out of the middle). If the focus is backed off a little, the shape becomes blurred, and much more like a circle again. The button to turn it on and off only turns it on after it clicks, so you have to make noise to turn it on; once on, pushing the button a little will turn it off until you release the button. (My preference is being able to push the button a little when it's off, to briefly turn the light on.) I almost contacted the seller about a replacement, due to my not understanding the 840/940 nm issue, described above. Now that I understand it, I'm actually very happy with the flashlight. For under $10, I'm impressed enough that I'm now going to buy the 950 nm version. (I also almost took 1 star off because it doesn't exactly match the description and the minor zoom issue, so some people might not be totally happy with it - but those issues don't bother me; and I would have liked to see a mention of the 840/940 nm distinction - but that's my fault, for not checking. So it rounds up to 5 stars.)

I think some of these bad reviews are from people that think it's a flash ...
I think some of these bad reviews are from people that think it's a flash light. Well it is a light on the infrared spectrum. This means it can't be seen by the naked eye. It is used with night vision equipment. I use it to hunt hogs and it works well. I know for fact it will light up an area to 300 yards at least because that's where I shot my last hogs. It works well with my sightmark photon. Great price and ships fast. You want to buy more expensive lights go ahead. This is all I need. Thanks
