Bought on Amazon for $10.99: used it to check cooking temp of steaks and chicken on the grill. Worked great, just pressed the button on the end to extend the probe and pressed the on/off button once. Temp was displayed in a few seconds and the meat turned out perfectly done. Pressed on/off button once to turn it off. I checked for accuracy of reading with iced water and it was high by 1.2 degrees (close enough for my purposes). I leave it on the end table in the living room and check the room temp by turning it on without even extending the probe. I checked the air conditioner output temp; this took a little patience as it took a minute or two to reach a steady temp. Make sure to take the clear plastic wrap off the battery or you won't get a reading and you might think you got a bad thermometer. I got an email from the seller (itronic) stating that they stand behind their products and giving a phone number and a link to an online chat if I need any help.

About 3 years ago I saved up and bought a Thermapen for about $100 because the reviews were excellent. I have used it ever since, and love it. But this week I saw an instant(?) thermometer on sale at Amazon for $10.99, and I wanted one for travel. So, I took a chance, and got it yesterday. (Pic below- the new one is red). As soon as I got it I wanted to test the speed and accuracy. I tried it, side by side, on some bread just coming out of the oven. They showed the same temp within a second of each other. Tried it again this morning on boiling water for my tea. Exactly the same temp in exactly the same amount of time. I don't know if it will hold up long-term, but I'm really happy !

I used this for the first time yesterday to test doneness on a roast that I cooked in the oven. It worked perfectly! It is easy to use and registers quickly. I purchased this product to use for outdoor cooking on the barbecue, but now find it's useful inside and outside the house. The only suggestion I would make is to include a chart of the temperatures for basic cooked foods. I have a fork style of this and it has the details right on the handle, which is nice. It is not a deal breaker, I just looked up the temperature online.

I was growing tired of waiting for my old analog food thermometer to register a food's temperature so after seeing a friend using his digital thermometer while grilling chicken, I decided it was time to upgrade. This one looked like it would fit the bill so ordered it and I'm happy I did! Insert the battery, push the button to release the probe, lock it into place, turn it on and you are ready to go, plus I like that it's red! When you are done using it, clean the probe in warm soapy water, dry it, then push the button that released it for use, swing the probe back around to click it back into its original locked position for storage. Unbeknownst to me, my husband was also impressed seeing our friend's digital thermometer in action so he ordered one from another brand as a gift. That one arrived a few days after the one I had selected so we compared them and the ThermoPro is far superior in quality; the other one was returned.

This is the second digital cooking thermometer we've purchased, but the first ThermoPro. The other one we picked up at the store for less than $10, the selling point being that it had "instant read" on the packaging. Wrong! The 'other' thermometer took FOREVER to read the temp--over 25 seconds!--and it was getting slower and slower. Instead of fiddling with replacing the batteries or anything like that, we shopped on Amazon and decided to try the ThermoPro line based on all the positive reviews. And we're glad we did! This thermometer is SO MUCH BETTER and we're not going back! Pros: - Quick read, less than 10 seconds, usually around 5 seconds. Seconds count when you're taking meat or baked goods out the oven to check temps. - Easy to use and read. Large digital readout. - Sensitive probe. The end of the probe is what reads the temp, so you don't have to push it in very far before it's starting to read the temperature. - Accurate. Cons: - Can't think of many ... maybe only that the probe is a little "wobbly" when it is folded back in. It feels like, in time, it might not fold in all the way and stab unsuspecting hands or fingers when it's in the drawer. But it's not an issue right now. Other than that little thing, we're happy!

Ok, so I waited to write a review because I wanted to really test it before drawing any conclusions (I hate reviews that say something along the lines of "just got it, it's great, thanks!" and tell you nothing about how an item performs.) I've used this on pork roasts, a turkey, a couple of baked chickens, and candy. Comparing the temps on this device with those from an older, differently branded thermometer, they are nearly identical. I'd say it's as accurate as any other similar price range thermometer and a bit better than my old, more expensive one. Easy to clean, small for storage, and a hook for hanging make it a great kitchen tool. I would definitely buy it again and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a food thermometer.

I bought this for my son - he's always needing a meat thermometer. I saw it on Amazon and thought "what the heck" and ordered it. I finally took it to him this weekend - not thinking a whole lot of it - it's just a meat thermometer - right? When he saw which one it was, he was SO EXCITED!!! "Oh wow - it's an iTronics! That's the Cadillac of meat thermometers! THANKS MOM!" Obviously the iTtonics reputation, preceeds itself, therefore I'm giving it 5 stars. If he says it a good one, it's a good one... Also the iTronics company has sent a follow up emails since my order "bending over backwards" making sure I was "satisfied with my purchase", saying if there was ANYthing I needed, not to hesitate to contact them, etc. You can tell they are the type of company that cares the customer is TRULY satisfied. I appreciated that.

I am a big fan of America's Test Kitchen. They do an extensive amount of reviews and testing of kitchen products. One of their reviews was for a meat thermometer. They recommended Thermapen which cost about $100. I little too steep for my budget. One of the reviews on this ThermoPro thermometer was from an owner of the $100 Thermapen and did a direct comparison between the ThermoPro and the Thermapen. They stated their performance (accuracy and speed) was nearly the same. So for a nearly 10 to 1 price difference, I went with the ThermoPro. I was not disappointed. It works great from reading meat temperatures to reading hot oil temps the thermometer works great. I would recommend this thermometer to anyone.

I like this thermometer. One of the things I like best about it is that it takes a regular AAA battery. I will not have to buy a much more expensive "button type" battery like my last thermometer used.

This works well, ...and isn't just like all the others. It just takes a few seconds to read whatever you're poking. Thinking there were others that said they were faster. I haven't noticed that it's a issue for me. It's large enough to be nice and readable. It's long enough that you don't get too hot poking food. It's a bit larger, beefier and solid than my last one. If small size is key to you notice the size. ...It fits in your pocket but doesn't disappear in there. It's got a nice release button and folding action, and a magnet to let you store it on your refrigerator. So it's always at hand. We have red in the kitchen, so the bright red color is a plus also. I just can't see spending for a professional Thermopen, but this is a step in that direction. To be honest I looked for something that used AAA batteries for my convenience. I haven't had it long enough for the batteries to go yet, but so far, so good. Looks like it's well built and sturdy enough, a step up, so it will last. ...Thinking it's a great choice.
