I bought my one year old son one of these for his birthday. His cousin has one and he loved playing with it so I figured he should have one of his own. This thing wasn’t very expensive but when I received it I was very impressed with the quality. Even the packaging it came in made it look super nice. And when I took it out for my son to play with it, it sounds really good too for a kids toy. Ever since we got it, we’ve used it to make top-10 singles and awesome little diddies despite not being able to play instruments at all. Good job ASMALLFISH!

Beautiful, well made xylophone!

My son has one of the Fisher Price plastic xylophones that has the plastic mallet attached to it with a string, and he has almost no interest in it other than chewing on the mallet. I've tried to play with it, but the string is so short that it makes it difficult and the sound isn't as nice and I wanted it to. I had a wooden xylophone growing up, so I wanted him to have a nice wooden also, so I picked out this one. I love how beautiful and well made this xylophone and it's mallets are. The music cards are really cute and I love that they are colour coordinated with the keys on the xylophone and that both the xylophone and the music cards say what note they are. I also love that it has a carrying case so everything can state together without being lost. The stickers, rope, and little heart tag that came with it would be perfect for tying around the box and giving as a gift. I also love that they have a small note in there saying they want you to be happy and if you would not give them a five-star experience to contact their support email, I think that shows that they really stand behind and believe in their product which I love.

We love it!!

This is such a great gift. Packaged beautifully. I love the postcards that tell you how to play songs. The xylophone sounds beautiful and appears well made. Our daughter loves playing it and the sound is so good that I doesn’t matter that she is just randomly hitting it. The sticks included are plastic and appear delicate, but have survived a beating already. The harmonica was just a bonus, but it seems like a decent product as well. All in all, a great value for the price.

Our family celebrated our Christmas together early this year. We bought 3 xylophones, one for each of our Grandbabies ages 20 and 14 months. I chose xylophones because there are pictures of them in several books that they like. They were an instant hit with the kiddos and their parents. The dads were immediately tapping out tunes. There are no sour notes even if you don't know a song! The instruments are well made. The sound that comes from them is very pleasant and not too loud. In the time since we celebrated, all 3 kids play with their toys daily...that says a lot!

Fantastic company! Great quality, and excellent communication!

The quality of this product is excellent - much better than any standard toy you can buy at a larger retailer. It's actually in tune and has a nice mellow tone. It doesn't sound "tinny" like cheaper toys do. The packaging of the xylophone was very protective and stylish, and the company included some nice touches like a gift card which allowed me to personalize the gift for my grandson. Another big plus with ASMALLFISH is that someone from the company actually sent personal emails making sure I was happy with my purchase, and offered immediate action if for some reason I was unhappy (which I'm not!). This personal communication and follow-up is not routinely done by many company's, so it was above and beyond what most other company's have done. Great job ASMALLFISH - keep it up!!

Great purchase

I am so thrilled with this purchase. I was looking for a plastic free xylophone, the plastic free packaging was an added bonus. My one year old loves making music with this, and has no issues hitting the bars. The quality is substantial enough to have thus far withstood 3 months of my toddler banging it on everything in the house. The ends of the wooden mallets are slightly dented in places from her harsh treatment, but aren’t noticeable to any degree when not specifically looking for them. My 8 year olds love to play songs on this as well, and often find them trying to steal it from the baby. I’m truth, I even caught my husband playing with it the other day. You can’t go wrong!

I bought this product for my grandsons but haven't given it to them yet. 30 plus years ago I bought my son a xylophone at about the same age - I think it was a Fischer Price model. This Xylophone is attractively packaged and appears to be well constructed. It seems a little small compared to the old one I remember and although it is well constructed of good materials, the sound could be better. When a note is struck, the sound is a little dampened. My boys are only 2 years old so I think for them it will be fine and the price is reasonable for the quality delivered.

Haven't seen quality like this in a while!

This is the most beautiful toy I've seen in a while. In an age when everything is mass produced, this has the feel of something a talented grandfather might lovingly make in his house. The quality is outstanding, it's perfectly in tune (not easy to find with kids' instruments) and it comes wrapped in a cute little box that is gift-ready and which includes decorated cards with info on how to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." My 1-year old has access to several xylophones at her daycare and couldn't seem to care less for those, but her face absolutely lit up at the bright colors and lovely sound of this one. On top of everything, the company is a small business, and they really care. Ken (I'm assuming the owner) promptly sent an email after I received the xylophone, simply to make sure everything was satisfactory. I'm sure if anyone had a problem, they'd work it out immediately.

Better than expected!

I bought this for my niece for Christmas. I was a little worried it may not be that great in regards to construction and sound quality, that it may come with the wooden mallets that some reviewers discovered were a choking hazzard, or that it may be painted with lead based paint. Everything was great! No lead according do my lead tests (you do have to scratch up the paint in an inconspicuous location to test properly, I did). It came with the funny little neon bear mallets, I pulled hard on both ends of both, nothing even gave a little, though there is no substitute for proper supervision and a routine check to make sure things are still intact. The xylophone itself is amazingly well construted and the mallets click in under it which is great. It comes with two laminated cards with songs for parents or siblings to play. And the sound quality far surpasses my expectations. It doesn't sound that much like a toy! I would definitely purchase again.
