I'm an avid knitter and already have 2 ceramic yarn bowls, but when I saw this I knew I had to have it. It's a rich beautiful wood, looks perfect on my table even without yarn in it (though that will probably never happen). It comes in a nice bag that I'm holding onto to carry knitting supplies when I travel.

I love this yarn bowl! Do I need it? Not really but it is giving me great pleasure. This is so much nicer than the double boiler top that I had been using. I keep it on my coffee table when not in use (which isn't very often). The bowl is beautifully finished and very pleasing to touch and feel. The channel for the yarn is very good, smooth, yet I think it could be smoother. This is not a big deal since the yarn doesn't catch and moves easily through the opening. I definitely recommend this bowl.

It's a beautiful bowl! I've wanted a yarn bowl for quite awhile, I've looked around starting from handcrafted ceramic bowls to wooden ones, and I've chosen to purchase a wooden bowl. I found a good one! This beauty is heavy and durable and sits on the floor when I am working on my projects. Also, the curve where yarn pulls out is so smooth, no snagging there. The owner or owners of this product are super kind! They're really concerned about my happiness with the product. And I am here to tell you that I am! If you like to own a yarn bowl, go with size 7X4, you won't regret it. Thank you so much for producing such a beautiful and useful product.

I just received my new yarn bowl (the larger size) and I have to say that I am impressed! It is absolutely beautiful. My husband is a wood worker (although he doesn't have the right equipment to make this type of thing himself) and of course had to carefully check the whole thing over. He too was impressed with the workmanship and quality. That is no small feat for him to say that because he builds guitars as a hobby! He is used to working with all kinds of very different woods & really loved the Rosewood. I had never used a yarn bowl before and I love it! I would highly recommend this product. It is even more beautiful than pictured. I was surprised by how heavy it is - although I shouldn't be since it is sold wood! I will be recommending this to others! Well done Hagestad!

I am in love with this yarn bowl! It is a very good weight to put on floor next to you or on the table or sofa. My yarn does not catch on the circular part of the bowl. The bowl is so smooth inside and out and is a good size. I bought the larger size. It's a work of art because I leave it out on a shelf or table when I'm not using it. It also comes with a velvet-like bag to use when you travel or take it in your project bag. Should have gotten this a few years ago.

I enjoy using this yarn bowl so much that I ordered a second one. The wood has a beautiful grain and is finished extremely well. The only problem I had was the yarn coming out of the guide regardless of how the ball was placed in the bowl. To solve this problem, I used a pop up mechanical pencil eraser, cut off the oddly shaped end leaving about an inch of the cylindrical eraser, colored it with a brown Sharpie and placed it at the bottom of the yarn guide curve. Problem solved, it looks great, and, if necessary, I can still remove the yarn from the bowl, while working on a project. I see from reviews that others have had a problem with the bowls having a bad smell. Mine were ordered at different times and they were both fine.

The rosewood bowl is absolutely beautiful! I had put off getting a bowl for my knitting because the ceramic bowls are so expensive. But I dropped my ball of yarn one too many times and decided to see if I could find a bowl crafted of wood. This bowl fit my requirement, so I ordered it and kept my fingers crossed. When it arrived, I couldn't have been more pleased. And to boot, they sent along a travel bag and a pair of crochet hooks! But the main thing is the bowl--a thing of beauty.

I received my yarn bowl a couple of days ago and so far I love it. Some of the previous reviews mentioned a smell and that they had to air it out. This didn't deter me, and I was prepared when my bowl came. I, personally, didn't notice a strong, unpleasant smell. Then again, I like the smell of wood. I liked the nice touch of the bowl being in a nice velvet bag. The bowl itself is beautiful. I love the coloring and the size of the bowl. I went on a 4-hour road trip the first day I got it, and the bowl worked very nicely. I have used it in finishing one of my crocheting projects and with starting another knitting project. So far, the bowl has worked past expectations. I have only been using sock weight yarn, so I don't know if there will be difference with a more thicker yarn. I would assume I would see no issues with this though. One of the yarns I did use was a fancier yarn and had some rougher strands for decorative purposes. The yarn did not stick to the bowl which is good. Overall: I would recommend this bowl to anyone who has troubles keeping their ball of yarn nearby, has chased their yarn across the room, or travels.

A smooth, hefty bowl, perfect for a full size skein of worsted weight yarn with some wiggle room left over. The finish is a deep, rich color and finished with a wax/rub that had very little scent that quickly dissipated. The spiral has been sanded nicely so the yarn hasn't caught on any wood bits at all. There are no rough places inside or outside to the touch. It pulls yarn smoothly through the wooden circle. I don't have plans to use the two wee holes, so I haven't looked into their quality. The bottom is sturdy with a nice weight that the yarn cannot easily pull or move. Kitties lose some interest in the yarn because it isn't rolling off the couch and all over the floor. It arrived boxed in a sturdy cardboard container then inside a velveteen pouch that is big enough for the bowl, some yarn, some hooks and a small WIP. It isn't lined, but it does seem sturdy and held an additional 10 lb weight without protesting. More than that and I'd be concerned about the lame' type fabric at the top of the pouch.

I feel like it's only fair to point out that the only negative reviews about this bowl are based on a fraudulent seller getting in on this listing with their inferior product (read the seller's explanation embedded in the comments under that review). It's unfortunate that the people who carefully handmade these bowls have to suffer from a SCATHING REVIEW THAT'S NOT EVEN ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT! Don't let those negative reviews based on misinformation dissuade you. It appears that they solved the fraud problem anyway, as there are no alternate sellers listed for this bowl anymore like there used to be - only Hagestad, the legitimate maker/seller. Here's what I found when I ordered two of these bowls, a 7" and 8" one (this listing only shows the 6" and 7" bowls; the extra large 8" one is offered in a separate listing). A note on sizing: so I bought a 7" bowl first, and although the information in the listing is absolutely accurate - the bowl is indeed 7" - that measurement refers to the overall size of the bowl, from outer edge to outer edge. But this is a very sturdy bowl and the walls are quite thick, so if you measure the interior space of the 7" bowl you'll find that it's about 5.5" across. As you can see in my attached photos, this was a snug fit for a brand-new skein of wool, but totally do-able if you're working with smaller balls. Of course, once you start knitting, I guess you have a smaller ball pretty soon anyway, so maybe the 7" size is not a problem - it looks like many reviewers are very happy with the 7" bowl. In any case, I ordered the next size up (the 8" bowl offered in a separate listing) and I slightly preferred the bigger size, so i'm going to go with that one. But both sizes are incredibly beautiful and clearly very well made. Very smooth edges, beautiful grain in the wood, heavy enough to stay put and not slide around when you tug your yarn. Some people have mentioned an odor. There's a scent, but I think it's pretty much what you'd expect to have on a brand-new varnished piece of woodwork. I personally didn't find the smell was noticeable unless I stuck my nose right in the bowl, and then it faded away completely after sitting out for a while. I highly recommend these bowls, even though there are cheaper ones all over Amazon. You'll see when you hold it in your hands that you've got a substantial, high-quality work of art in front of you. For a fine piece of handmade woodworking, I think the price is totally fair. If you disagree, returns are easy enough. But once you see it in person I doubt you'll want to return it.
