My 10 month old loves baby food that comes in pouches and now we can save money and fill our own! These work well with the stage 2 baby foods we have tried, and it can hold a little more than 1 jar/tub. My son loves Applesauce and we have already saved a ton of money buying the bulk unsweetened instead of the disposable pouches! It's seriously less than half the cost! We've had no problems running these through the dishwasher (although we have only had them for a short time, so they haven't been washed a ton yet). If you plan to use them for regular feedings or snacks, we have found it's best to prefill and store in your fridge (it also looks like you can freeze them, which I may have to try!). I just label with painter's tape what kind of food and a use by date. Then they are ready to go and I don't have a crying/hungry/fussy baby while I'm trying to get these filled... They don't take long, but anyone with a baby knows even 30 seconds can be too long. Lol. These would also be great for homemade babyfood. I hope this review helps! I'm not sure if these are much different than any of the other food pouches out there, but they are super cute and they're not a bad price!

I bought my first batch of Squooshi reusable pouches over two years ago, with two other competing brands of similar concept. Honestly, when I first bought them, I really didn’t think they would be strong contenders with the other brands (initially thinking the bottom zip closure would be a terrible accident waiting to happen, with a small child trying to squeeze stuff out of the top, and pressure building in both directions). However, I found that the possible design flaw never materialized as such, and it is the materials that Squooshi uses that by far won out over the competition over time. Today, only the Squooshi pouches remain with me in daily use (I do have one of the Little Green Pouch brand remaining, but the opening is smaller and the plastic is far less flexible, and the zipper is beginning to separate like it did on all the other little green pouches that failed on me within 6-8 months of regular use). I have used my initial four squooshi pouches (purple walrus and panda) multiple times weekly for over two years, and they are still going strong. Now, I’ve just bought a replenishing stock of these, in case my initial four ever wear out. The new arrivals seem to be of the same materials and strength. I’m thrilled with this product! Pluses: 1--wide opening design coupled with zipper opening wide, so you can easily and quickly fill with a measuring cup (no spooning stuff in slowly like with narrower openings on other brands, and no specialty products to have to buy to fill). 2--pouch material is very flexible, yet extremely durable. the flexibility means that the zipper does not separate from the pouch. Just genius choice of materials. well done, squooshi. 3--uses standard caps (that you can find on major, name brand disposable pouch foods) in case your kid drops/loses a cap. You’re not throwing away a reusable product just because you lost a part. Go to the grocery store, and buy a disposable pouch, and reuse that cap. genius. 4--this is not unique to this pouch, but great for all self-fill pouches - I have gotten my kid to eat all sorts of new and crazy things, and has developed a taste for so many unique adult foods by blending a wide variety of things and putting them in pouches. So far, the only loser in this game has been figs and zucchini (but not together, of course. that’s nasty. part of this is I just can’t get zucchini to freeze well - blended zucchini separates out when frozen. But i digress....) Cons: 1--not microwavable. I’m not a fan of microwaving any type of plastic or polymer with food inside, so this is not a biggie for me. I microwave a bowl of water, and drop the pouch directly from the freezer in the hot water for a minute or less. 2--this is not a con, but I can’t speak to its durability in the dishwasher. I rinse mine out directly after use, and then wash a big batch of them by hand all at once. I know that they are advertised for dishwasher use, but I hand washed all of mine, and the Squooshi ones are still going strong after 2 years with no signs of stopping.

We bought some of the store brand squeeze food packets for our young baby/toddler and discovered how incredibily wonderful they are for traveling and just day-to-day use. Although we still buy store-brand packets for when we travel, we use the Squooshi packets most of the time to make our own when we have time and can refrigerate it. We have used a couple different brands, and for us, the Squooshi has been the best and this is why. By far, the reason we love the Squooshi packets more than the others is that they are super easy to clean since we can fit our regular kitchen scrub brush inside it perfectly. When you put the brush inside the pouch it's a bit of a tight fit, but it will not split the pouch and you can rotate it while it's in the pouch (we have done this hundreds of times). We specifically use the 3m Company 650-12 "Scotch-brite" Heavy Duty Dish Wand which you can get in almost every grocery store. Also, the pouches seal really well and our toddler can't open the bottom. They are easy to fill and can be reused hundreds of times before being worn-out. We looked at using the "filling station" and other devices that allow you to more easily fill the pouches, but for us, it's simply easier and faster to spoon the food into the bottom of the pouch, and since you're not using a special device to fill it, you have fewer things to wash and store in the kitchen. The cap sizes seem to be universal because if you lose them you can use ones from store-bought packets and they fit fine. We've never had a packet come undone either, so the bottom of the packet stays sealed quite strongly. In fact, it can be difficult to reopen to clean it, but better that then the alternative. We use a juicer that also has a feature to make baby food, specifically, the Omega NC800 HDR 5th Generation Nutrition Center Juicer, Red, which has been great and is easy to clean. We also have a Vitamix which we love and can also be used to make baby food, but we have found the juicer to be the better tool for the job. Also, our toddler loves fresh carrot/spinach/apple/ginger juice, which the Vitamix can't do. If you have any questions about the pouches or anything else, just ask in the comments and I'll do my best to respond promptly.

We had an 8-pack of the older version of Squooshi reusable food pouches and were super fans. Recently, we got a 6-pack of the newer material animal pouches and love them even more! They're easier to clean and easier for my daughter to squeeze out. We love the see through window to easily identify the kind of food in the pouch and we love the spot to write our names. We're really pleased with this product and love the company.

My 19 month old is obsessed with apple sauce pouches. He walks around the house all day saying "suace!" He is very independent, and does not like to be spoon fed. Applesauce pouches have been a huge hit with him. Some days, he would go through 5-7 applesauce pouches. One day, as my son was consuming his 6th applesauce pouch of the day, I wondered if there was a reusable pouch. Sure enough, I looked on Amazon and I found these. Not only are they functional, better for the environment, and cost effective, they are adorable! I wash the pouches by hand right after he is finished eating his "sauce." I do not find them hard to clean. The double zipper at the bottom works well, and we have never had any leaks. I appreciate the larger capacity in these pouches, as my son always wanted more than the 2.5 ounces in the store bought pouches. I am so glad we found these!

Update: I have been using these for the past 9 months and they’re holding up very well. No mold, no tears, no busted zipper. * * * * * After reading reviews on so many of these pouches, I decided to try Squooshi's. I have found them to be quite durable, and don't bust open at the bottom if sealed properly. It is difficult to open up the bottom, especially with the first use, but I think that is the idea. I also don't fill the pouch up all the way so that I can seal it without food getting into the zipper. While filling, I use a spoon or funnel to avoid getting food into the zipper. I would leave a little extra room for the food to expand if planning to freeze. Cleaning is very easy if you've got a bottle/cup cleaning brush that gets into small spaces/corners. Some reviews have mentioned mold, but it hasn't yet been as issue for me, as I allow the cleaned pouch to dry thoroughly before reuse. I like how this product comes in a pack of 6, great for pureeing a larger amount.

I am thoroughly surprised by these pouches. I looked into a LOT of reusable pouches and the ones with the side opening seemed more appealing because then they could stand upright, but ultimately decided to choose these because of the fun animal designs and I am not disappointed. Filling them is super easy by either spooning in your baby food or by using a funnel. Make sure to leave yourself a little room because when you compress it to close, you can overflow sometimes. The only downside is that my three year old was used to the store bought ones and doesn't like that he can't stand them up on the table or his plate, but when our new baby is ready for foods, we are excited to use these as he doesn't know the difference. Lots of posts mentioned how hard these were to clean and it had me pretty worried, but they are SO easy to keep clean. I let hot water run through, fill up, run through, scrub inside with a bottle brush and rinse then set upright to dry. No issues whatsoever.

Arrived in a tidy package, and I was afraid they would smell very plasticky, but they didn't at all, so we just started using without rinsing them. Have used these a few times now, first time, I made way too much food and the next time too little - so be thoughtful about how many ounces you want of each food. Our LO is 9months and she goes through store bought packets like whoa, so I got the large ones thinking that would keep her going longer. They're actually a bit too much food and she can't finish them if I fill the entire 6oz. Easy for her to grip, and even though the tops are completely removable, I knew with the store bought ones that we don't usually lose the cap. Opening the zipper at the bottom to fill them is HARD, but I like that 'cause it makes me comfortable that they will stay shut. Once I've pried them open, I use the Jokari Hands-free baggy stand to hold them upside down. I use a big tablespoon to spook the mixture in, or if it's liquidy enough, I've just poured straight from a blender pitcher. Don't fill past the little clear part on their belly, or it will squish out when you zip close. Once closed, we either toss in the diaper bag, the fridge for later, or the freezer. If they're frozen, it takes at least a day of sitting in the fridge to defrost. Haven't tried any chunky recipes, just purees.

I read most of the positive and very negative reviews to prep myself for this product. I really wanted to make a wise investment. So far, it has been. Opening the pouches is pretty hard but it makes sense since it needs to have a tight seal while in use. But once opened, easy to clean with a bottle brush. I have been making some of my baby (well, toddler now) food since the start so these pouches were a great addition to the process. Cons -hard to open seal. Need the counter to close seal and maybe a few run-overs to be sure. -bottom opening is smaller than anticipated. I need to use a regular eating teaspoon to fill the pouches. Anything bigger would be very messy. -I only fill mine about halfway because the food will get very close to the seal. If it's filled more, it can make sealing much more difficult. -If even an iota of food is in the seal, it will not close completely. You can feel the lil bump. It's like a double seal so Im sure there is some protection against this but I have not tested it this far. I don't like feeling the bumps. -large pouches do not fit on the top shelf of my dishwasher (it could just be our brand/style since we live in a small apartment). Only the small ones fit nicely up there. They can go on the bottom by the water pressure knocks them right off and the inside won't get clean. So I just handwash the large pouches. Not a deal breaker, just bummed I can't stick all of them in the dishwasher. -similar complaint from other reviews: I have found certain foods (in my case, blueberry puree) just like to stick to the pouch. I can get the pouches 99% completely clean. I always manage to miss a speck or two in the seal or within the pouch. And it will NOT budge!! Doesn't matter how much water is run through it, how I contort my bottle brush...it just sits there smiling at me. So, I have decided to use the same food for the same pouch. Pros -despite last compliant, they really are fairly easy to clean. -No mess for us, but toddler does not have a death grip. -No drips in our diaper bag so far -I feel like the seal is getting easier to open...Im hoping this is my grip strength improving vs a seal weakening. -So far, all foods fit through the top, but I don't make "chunky" foods for these containers. -Even if you don't make your food, big jar of store bought applesauce is a great go-to for these types of products. Overall, these are about the level of "work" I expected to put into something like this so I was not shaken by the cons. I wish the miniscule food specks would not bother me so much. But I do love the money savings as my kids were going through enough of the store-bought pouches. I am happy with these pouches. Considering I have had them for over a month now, I am starting to consider a filling station as it would reduce the number of times I need to open the bottom. Good luck! Read more reviews to get better, well-rounded ideas on this product. That's what helped me decide. Hope mine was helpful despite your decision.

For easy filling: cut the bottom half off of a soda bottle or chocolate milk bottle and use that as a funnel. Just put the cap on the pouch, invert in a heavy glass, insert the makeshift funnel, and fill. I love these! They are way cheaper than buying prefilled ones from the store and offer so much more flexibility. You also have more control over ingredients if you are trying to limit sugar or preservative for your kiddo. We've never had a problem with leaking. I've used them for applesauce, pudding, greek yogurt, and mashed bananas. And such cute designs!! I think they are easy too clean although I can see where it could seem difficult. It definitely helps to rinse them as soon as they are empty.
