- COMMON USES - With a 3-strand construction, Manila rope is made to survive the most rugged and performance-demanding environments. It is ideal to be used for railing, wrapping pier posts, rustic-looking outdoor decoration, art and craft projects, etc. Due to its strong composition and durable design, this all-natural rope is easy to cut to size by wrapping with tape and cutting with a sharp knife.
- HOW TO STORE - The Manila natural fiber rope can be kept in any place around the house or garage with good ventilation. Dry areas work as the best place to store this large brown rope. It can also be stored in a shed or backyard. Keeping the rope covered will increase its life-span.
- OIL-TREATED DURABILITY - Manila rope is produced in the Philippines. During production, cordage oil is applied to the fibers so it can be twisted into rope. The oil produces a smell that dissipates over time. In high humidity climates the smell will take slightly longer to fade away. This rope is primarily recommended for outdoor applications.
- ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS - While Manila is wonderful for many applications, it can't be perfect for every situation. If Manila doesn't suit your needs, SGT KNOTS stocks alternative natural or brown ropes. For crafting and indoor projects consider Jute Rope or Sisal Rope. For a heavy duty rope project that requires resistance to more extreme environments, consider ProManila or UnManila.
- SIZE SPECIFICATIONS - We have every size and length combination to suit your cordage needs. The brown twisted rope comes in pre-cut lengths of 10 feet, 25 feet, 50 feet, 100 feet, 200 feet, 300 feet, 400 feet, 500 feet, 600 feet, and 1200 feet. The thickness of manila ropes can also be chosen from diameter options of 1/4 inch, 5/16 inch, 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, 3/4 inch, 1 inch, 1.25 inches, 1.5 inches, 2 inches, or 3 inches.

Excellent quality and affordable price
We purchased this strong, good-looking rope to hang a repurposed futon into a porch swing. It's more than durable for holding the weight of the swing and several heavy adults. Excellent quality and affordable price.

Cat scratching posts revived
I purchased this item to replace the rope on my cats' scratching posts after years of abuse. This rope is absolutely wonderful! My cats rub up against it meaning they are attracted to it smell. It's very thick and sturdy and I highly recommend the 3/4 inch thickness for the scratching post. It's so easy to do also, just use some nails at the beginning of re-roping and at the end again. This rope is definitely better than anything you would find at Home Depot.

Great Quality, Scent DOES Go Away!
So, this natural rope is treated with a mineral oil so that it can be twisted. All ropes made of natural fiber contain this oil. It DOES go away, but it also takes a while. We wrapped our rope around a hot steam pipe in our apartment to protect our furniture, skin, and pets from the hot metal, and it works PERFECTLY. The scent of the oil is initially strong but it is safe to breathe and will go away eventually. We used it indoors on a steam pipe, and are very satisfied. We're about to order about 800' more to wrap up our other exposed pipes! Great company run by veterans like myself. Proud to buy from them. Great customer service, fast responses. Great product, exactly as advertised. You can feel comfortable buying from this company. They seem like good people.

This rope is wonderful in my DIY projects
I've been having so much fun with little DIY projects using this manila rope. I have used it to re-purpose jars, tins and even cardboard bath tissue rolls. This is a heavy duty rope twisted with several strands intertwined together. Some of my projects require the full strand, but I have pulled the strands apart for my smaller containers. It is on the rougher side, so it lends a very rustic look to my crafts. It is also good and sturdy for using it for it's intended purpose - to tie things together or secure things tightly. I like the idea of being able to use containers I already have to help me organize and store items. Rope is the new trend now and it makes my containers so much more attractive.

Fit our bill perfectly
The best part about these guys is that they will cut the piece you need rather than require you to buy the entire spool. Product was delivered as promised and the rope is very good quality. It does have an odor as mentioned in some of the other reviews, but this type of rope always does out of the box, and the smell goes away with time. If using it indoors, perhaps try storing it outside until the smell subsides.

Duel purpose!
I bought this for two reasons - 1, so my toddler wouldn’t smash his head off this giant spiral brick pillar in our living room. 2, so my cats could use it to scratch and I wouldn’t have to spring for a cat tree! I got 200 feet in the 1/2inch thickness. It was perfect for this project and I’m very happy with it. It did have a pretty strong odor the first few days, but it’s much better now. Would buy again if I ever need to replace it.

Great product
This Rope works well for our garden. I was first hesitate to place the order because of the gas smell mentioned by the reviewers. And I believe there should be a smell since the room was coated to make it more sturdy. But my mom said the smell would be gone after we put it outside and we use it in the garden anyway. So I placed the order and received the rope in a bag very quickly. It had very strong smell once broke the bag as expected. We put it on the porch and one day later the smell was gone. We plan to create a green wall on the porch and it seems working so far 😊

best rope for outdoors/gardening
It's real manila rope, which is head and shoulders above the sisal or jute ropes you may see (it's made from bast fibers of a giant banana like plant -very strong but coarse) Use for gardening, holiding up climbing tomatoes, malabar spinach, and the like. The 3/8" is too thick (maybe use it as a horizontal stringer or to support other ropes). The 1/4 is just right for things that climb. the only downside is that It has a smell. This is a kind of raw petroleum oil that is traditionally used to coat manila rope. as is noted it is not best for indoor use (not for cast posts...).

excellent rope
good strong manilla rope and has a very good rich color that's aesthetically pleasing. used for a rope fence in the garden. as a gardener and someone who is very familiar with chemical smells as well diesel and gasoline i can say the people complaining about the smell of the rope spend no time outdoors whatsoever. that smell of the rope is a little pungent but has a very earthy musty smell not unlike chrysanthemums. im asuming the smell of the rope is hemp oil but im not certain because i dont know what hemp oil smells like. it defiantly DOES NOT smell like diesel or gasoline or any kind of synthetic chemical i have ever smelled before. it have a strong smell of essential oils though.
