My boyfriend had a litter box door in a piece of plywood for a cat door in my window. He recut the hole in the plywood, cut a layer off the cat door (depth) and installed it into the plywood. The magnet makes it tougher for the cats to go in and out, but they managed quite well after a couple of days since they already had the experience with the litter box door. The screws are too short, but once it was cut to fit into the plywood it worked great. If your cat is 20 lbs or more, go to the next size. One of my cats is 20 lbs and he squeezes through with a little bit of extra room.

This is a great cat door. We have two of them and they work perfectly. Keep all the cold air out. The door always goes back to closed quickly. It takes some time for the cats to get used to them, but eventually they do.

The door itself is easy to install. Getting that hole in the door is the challenge. Be smart, unless you're a YouTube expert, and take the door off the hinges. Mark the cat door level on the door before you take it down. Then cut that hole out - and good luck - then just fit the cat door in the hole with all the correct sides where they belong, screw the four corners, rehang the big door then let your kitty figure out how to get in and out. My cat was skeptical so I just shoved him through it a couple of times. Now he hits that door like a mad teenager slamming a big door. He's a mess and now he really does own the place.

We use this for our garage door that leads from the house into our garage. We keep the kitty litter out there. My two cats weren't certain how to go through them initially but once they figured it out it worked well. One thing though, they got locked in the garage one day for quite awhile. The locking system is at the bottom and it was pretty loose and easy to switch to lock. I just used tape to secure it in place since we're not using this for an outside door.

I just installed this in my interior hollow door. It worked pretty well. I did have to get creative with different size screws to install it but I had some around the house. I took the flap off for now so I can train my cat easier so I cant comment on how the lock feature works.

Easy yo install. Used for 2 toy dogs. Had to sray WD 40 to makes door open and shut with ease. Other than that great door.

I ordered this cat door to give my cats access to my garage from the basement, for mousing and so I can kick their litter boxes out there. It was a cinch to install, and the hardware included works perfect when used as intended. The magnet closure is ideal for keeping out drafts (and mice), but not too strong to discourage the cats from using the door. They’re new to pet doors but picked it up quickly thanks to that, and the clear flap. My husband is a security freak so he likes that it locks, despite the fact that intruders couldn’t possibly fit through the opening. I would absolutely buy this again.

Despite the recommendations against using one in a metal door, I installed this in a metal clad foam core exterior door. No problems or issues with the installation. I did use shorter sheet metal screws on both inside and outside to attach it to the door. The mating thickness of the cat door assembly worked perfectly. I'm using the 9.9" x 9.2" model for a normal sized cat and it's the proper size. I'm using it to swing in and out (coming and going) and the magnet stop for the center position works very well. It seals up when closed as well as could be expected and allows very little air to leak past. The flapper door is plastic and probably will not withstand very much abuse, but should last many years of normal use.

Easy to install. Cat figured out the door with no problem. She fits easily and is a bigger cat; 17 pounds.

This cat door is perfect for my needs. I got two sizes one to use on the inside door, the other to use in the garage door. Having a smaller one in the garage door helps keep other animals out of the garage. The larger one helped train my cat to use the cat door. Awesome product, and very helpful!! Now the cat can come and go as he pleases.
