Nice Fit!
These sound great! Perfect fit for my home studio. Fantastic sound at low volume and beautiful clarity when I turn them up. I use with my synthesizers primarily and I am very happy with these.

Good choice!
Amazing sound quality and excellent limiting during high volumes!! Flat response! Bass and vocals are felt. No hiss or hum at ALL. These were an excellent buy. There's not many reviews for these things so I felt like making one!

Solid value for DJs or most producers
I picked these up at a local brick and mortar pro-audio store. I got the BX5 D3 Crimson, which as far as I can tell are identical to the model here, with the exception of the red colored cone. I listened to these for about 10 minutes vs. the Pioneer 305P MkII and the KRK Rokit Powered 5 monitors for about 10 minutes. I have never been a fan of the Rokits. I have considered them off and on for over 15 years but I have always felt the sound was tight in the mids and lacked any presence in the low end. The current models left the same impression on me and were out of the running pretty quickly. I knew the Pioneers are the current darlings of the 5" powered monitor scene in this price range and I was fully expecting to leave with them. The 305Ps were fantastic sounding speakers with a very tight but balanced sound and excellent clarity. I can see why they're so well regarded. The BX-5s sounded remarkably similar to the Pioneers in the midrange but the tweeters were just a tad brighter and warmer, and the bottom end had more presence with the Acoustic Space switch set at 'flat". Set at 2 or 4 db down they sounded almost identical to the Pioneers on the low end. There is zero hiss or noise floor when they are on with no signal, where as there was a hint of hiss from the Pioneers. They both have great output and are clean at high volumes but the BX5s were a little louder at the same volume setting. I used to have Event PS6 monitors and I feel like these would go toe-to-toe with them, despite having smaller drivers. I prefer the free-turning volume knob on the BX5s (The Pioneers have detents at each increment from 1-10). The build quality is great. They are heavy and solid with a great texture on the cabinet and the knobs and switches all feel excellent, plus the kevlar cone is a bonus at this price point. I think if I was doing mixdowns of live instruments or more organic music I would take the Pioneers. They had a notably broader soundstage, and an ever-so-slightly more damped quality. However, for a DJ nearfield monitor or electronic music production I prefer the M-Audios. They have a focused soundstage which makes them great DJ monitor, and they have 99% of the Pioneer's clarity but with a slightly richer sound.
