Pleasantly surprised

I needed a media player to replace my aging PS3, mostly I need it to watch videos, not to play games. In a day and age were so much video is coming out in 4k the PS3 was just not cutting it anymore, in addition to other short comings, such as no MKV support, audio restrictions on perceived pirated video and USB limitation to FAT formatted hard drives. I was not familiar with Android video boxes at all, I had gotten a XBOX One and a PS4 to replace the PS3 but booth sucked as video players. So I ordered the ABOX without knowing much about it excepted for the research I made online. I was pleasantly surprised, it does the job and does it well. It plays 4K video without a glitch. It does play MKV files but just like other video players it does not play the audio on certain types of MKV files. It also plays video from USB hard drives in exFAT and NTFS, what a bonus! The USB is USB 2 but it reads files in USB 3 hard drives and up to 2 Terabytes hard drives. The remote is basic and I wish it was Bluetooth and had a fast forward and rewind button, no problem, I was able to find one online with a keyboard in the back that works great with the ABOX. Overall I’m very pleased with the performance, and it’s such a tiny box without noisy fans running.

This box seemed ok at first. I only used it 4 or 5 times since I purchased on April 16,2017.,. The power cord never seemed to fit properly but it worked well the few times I used it . Then I plugged it in after the 30day return window had closed and now I am out of luck. I will order from another supplier . This is an update ## I was contacted by the Seller after they read my review they contacted and worked very hard to solve my problem. In the end I have a great android tv box ( same model) . This is a very trustworthy seller . I highly recommend this product and company.

Works well, occasionally freezes up but I still like it better than the fire sticks. I added the FeBite MX3 Pro 2.4G remote which makes navigating Netflix much easier

This box is really disappointing! It is extremely laggy. I was instructed to let the machine run for like 30 minutes to download updates and whatnot. So i gave it an hour to run, but it freezes upon most of the app start up/close. I do not understand how this product got so good reviews. I am returning this unit! UPDATE: Penny helped me get another model that works flawlessly. 2017 Model GooBang Doo M8S-II Android 6.0 TV Box 2GB/8GB Unique GooBang Doo Server(OTA) Supports Dual-Band Wifi 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz, True 4K Playing This unit works great without any issues described above. I would think it has to the android OS version per Penny's explanation. She was an excellent communicator and very helpful in every way to resolve the issue. ABOX is Awesome!!

After my set-up was done, I watched a 1080 movie, it's clearly better then most other streaming boxes. I don't play games on it, so 8 gigs of memory is perfect. If you want to play games tho, you can hook a usb or even a external hard drive up to it. Giving plenty room storage space wyse for big game apps. Fire sticks work, but same price and this is a way better product to buy!!! Thanks for fast free shipping too! :)

Lasted a while

This guy lasted me a good amount of time before cutting out on me! usually i expect to have to replace these at least once a year, but it lasted me a bit longer than that.... i recently purchased the newer version from the same brand and am just as happy with that as i was with this!

Does what I need it to do

I just received the box and set it up. I was a little worried because of a few reviews I read at first. I suppose I should state what I bought it for first and then How it met my needs. This is my first box. I have gotten a new tv and I wanted to trick it out a bit. I got it Primarily to play movies and tv shows I have saved on my computer. There are many that are not on tv or streaming sites In any way and I wanted to be able to watch them easily. I am marginally interested in watching Netflix or YouTube on the tv but not a big deal. the unit has 8gb of storage on the device, a memory slot that takes up to 32gb and 2 usb ports that take up to 1 tb hd. i took a 150gb hd I had and started dropping several movies and tv shows that were in different formats to test it. The device was able to play them all fine. I do suggest you use kodi in that the interface is much easier to use. the quality was good for what ever the video was recorded as. I am leaving the 5 stars because it does what I bought it for very well. However, i do wish the unit did have the newest version of kodi on it and better documentation on upgrading the software and running updates. Also I agreed the wifi is a bit weak. I would suggest a special app to run when you first getting the device that will setup the unit and run all updates to make it easier on the user. My mom is drooling in envy and vowing to get one too.

Was a surprise for hubby!

I ordered this box for my husband. Once he got used to how to navigate; he can't stop thanking me for purchasing it. He loooovvess it. We can catch up on old and new feature movies.

Love it!

Replaced our old box that couldn't handle the 2017 Kodi update. Worked right out of the box and most of our favorite add ons were already loaded. Awesome!
