Always wanted to be able to make up a cat5 cable instead of hiring a tec to come out and make me a 8” cable for a specific job. Took my a few try’s to get it right. Now I’m a pro at it. Saves me $100’s of dollars not having to hire someone to do a job for me.

great tool for beginners or small jobs

being a novice at cabling, this kit took the anxiety out of the effort. the tool works well to cut the cable - and strip the insulation. Tester worked well for both the voice line as well as the data lines I needed to test. I would recommend a user guide for beginners. The fact that it is in it's own case is a plus!

Good Network kit to start out with

I purchased this to upgrade the wiring in my apartment from RJ45 to RJ11. Thie cables are in place but only 4 of the 8 wires in the cables are hooked up. This kit has everything I will need to do the job. I have practice making new jumper cables and using the tester to verify that they are connected properly. All the cables that I have made I have not had any working issues. I have made some errors in the process of making the cables and the tester has pointed them out. All the errors are because of me and not the equipment.

A perfect kit for the price

For $15, this kit can't be beat. The crimpers are perfectly adequate, and the line tester does its job. I didn't use any of the included plugs because I was working with cat6 wire. (the plugs are for cat5 I believe) The zippered case (its just a small pouch) is just barely big enough to hold the cable tester and punch down tool. I would have preferred a larger case that also held the crimpers, but it certainly isn't a deal breaker.

This product is very helpful there is everything you need to run internet cables and all the tools work according to specifications. This would be a great packet for wiring your house hold. Does not come of course with the wire, though it does come with enough connectors and clips to start you out. I would highly recommend this product.

Great addition to my tool box.

This kit is a great addition to my tool box. I bought it to assemble my own home network closet switch box, termination boards etc... It paid for itself after one use easily compared to hiring some commercial tech to assemble at $50 an hour. You have plenty of room to make mistakes and learn and still come out way ahead. This would not be something a professional would use everyday, but of good enough quality to use as a homeowner many times over. Buy it,

Perfect cable. It is tricky to figure out how ...

This worked well. I went through a couple of failed attempts only to discover that I wasn't viewing the wire order from the same side of each connector. Once I figured out what I had done wrong (twice in a row), I put on my dunce cap, did it again, and voila! Perfect cable. It is tricky to figure out how long the wires need to be from the sheath, but that comes with experience.

Best Bang for buck around

It's a cheap kit, but it gets the job done! If you're just getting into terminating this cable or just need a starter kit, i'd recommend this kit and then as you need better stuff buy that individually. The case is actually really nice as well.

Great product and customer care

Great product and customer care. I was able to do, what i bought it for. I am newbie and have never installed connector before, but was able to install connectors successfully. The connectors that are provided with this pack are not very good, thus I bought 50 Pack CESS CAT5 CAT5e RJ45 Connectors Network Cable Modular Plug 8P8C End Pass Through here on amazon for $11 and eliminated errors. Give it a try and you will love it.

Great Kit. Recommended for home and work

Great kit! Does a nice job of crimping 6pin connectors. Strippers work well with 4wire cable. Haven't tried Cat5 yet. Tester works great! Identified problem with 4wire cable. I use it to test batches of Chinese Cat5 cables. Found two defective cables from batch. If there is a complaint, it is the lack of instruction for stripping/crimping. Instruction booklet is written for tester. As an electronics guy, it's no problem. A novice might struggle. Online videos will help.
