Works as intended, more detailed review.

This device works as intended. I decided to leave a a detailed review in case anyone wondered what they were really getting because I wasn't so sure myself when I ordered it. The Kingwin KW525-3U3CR is a 5.25" drive bay mounted device. Once you have slid the reader into your computers 5.25" bay you will have 3 cables at the rear of the reader needing to be connected to your motherboard and or PCI-E USB 3 adapter. I purchased the Mailiya PCIE-7PTC20P PCI-E USB 3.0 and 3.1 (USB-C) Expansion card. Works great. Cables coming from the rear are the following: 1. (1) 20 Pin USB connector. I connected this to my USB3 Expansion card but it will also connect to your motherboard if it supports it. The 20 pin connector is supposed to only handle 2 USB 3/3.1/C connections so I am assuming the Kingwin is a USB 3/3.1/C hub inside and this is why you can have 4 USB 3/3.1/C devices connected at the same time. This is not documented anywhere. I also do not know if the USB-C port supports "quick charging". I do not think it does. 2. (1) 9 Pin USB 2.0 cable. This cable connects to the card reader and is used to transfer data from the Kingwin to your motherboard. None of the card types use the USB 3.0 connections to transmit data. 3. (1) 1 SATA cable connection. This will connect directly to your motherboard and use one of your open SATA connections. This transfers data only from the card readers eSATA port straight to the motherboard. Overall I like it and it works as advertised. If anything changes or find a mistake in my review, I will update it.

tech support is amazing!!!

I bought this and had a problem and tech support had me a new item with in a week. The new one is amazing! so many input methods available. I love the simplicity of installation and looks great!

I purchased this Kingwin Powered USB Hub back in March 2019. Didn't build my new machine until Dec, of 2019. Had a problem with the USB not working. Spoke to Rob in tech support. He got me a replacement. Works great now! I also got the KW525-7U3C USB hub for my mom's build. Works great too!! Love there products. Will always buy from them!

KW525-3U3CR is a good upgrade for an olde case

The KW525-3U3CR is a fine product. I bought it because needed USB 3.0/3.1 connectors on an old case. I upgraded from an i5-3750K/MSI Gaming 5 rig to a Ryzen 1700/GA-AX370-Gaming K5 rig while keeping my Antec 900 Mid tower case. I also transfer pictures occasionally from an XD, SD, SHDC, flash card so wanted to have that capability, too. All these features work with this unit. No drivers to install (well, check with your motherboard manufacturer as you may need to install drivers for their USB chipset) The header cables are nice and long, so no problem connecting up in this rather large case.

Very complete USB Hub

This unit had all the key features I was looking to add to my system. Front USB-C, front USB 3.0 and a card reader combined which is perfect on any case.

Worth the buy

I bought one that was damaged so they sent a replacement. This one is perfect and have not have trouble since! I really like the 3 USB ports convenience.

Computer too old

When receiving this I found out my computer was too old. Return process was supper easy.

Works great but be careful with the female header assembly on its cable.

I works very good, but I had problem with this units Header plug, where it plugged into the Motherboard. The Hood separated from the pins when I unplugged from the motherboard to reroute the cable. Had to be real careful putting it back together.

Extra usb 3 ports and multicard reader!!!

I needed it in my new build. It works as described and makes a lot of sense.

Great Product easy to hook up to system and has many function slots for various uses Purchased 3 for 3 computers with a easy install and they work great so far. Very Satisfied is working great in all 3 units and replaces units with just 2 usb ports on the front of the cpu's
