Love these sturdy gloves!!!
I love these. They are great to keep from being stuck by thorns and also for working with all my gardening. They were easy to rinse off. The soil does not soak into them. They will be great for avoiding poison oak, summac, poison ivy and such.

Bigger is better in a work glove
I admit I was put off by the images of these gloves showing wide stumpy fingers. When they arrived a week ago I compared them to other gauntlets I have (at least two pair, one with the fingers worn off), and it's true: the fingers are wide and just long enough for my large women's hands. See image. Glad I bought a Medium even though I'm small by today's standards. I've been burned too many times with too small gloves. What sold me on these gloves were two surprising things: #1, how long the gauntlets are, and #2, how easy it is to pull these gloves off and put them back on. Gauntlet length is a big plus for me because I'm allergic and can get rash on my forearms from plants and grass. The length of the gauntlets is fine summer or winter. They're big enough that cotton sleeves will fit inside in cooler weather. I bucked 20 bales of hay in a tee shirt on a hot day and didn't get hay in the gloves. Fact is, there are jobs you just can't do with gloves, fine motor movements. I always knew that pulling gloves on and off and on again was an annoyance, but now I realize bigger is better. I can handle tools, faucets and most latches with them on, but it's hard to tie knots. The gloves whip off in an instant, and it's no struggle to pull them back on even with arthritis in both hands. I use these glove around my horse barn to handle hay for my horses and to muck. I will also use them for pruning a few hundred roses come fall. They might not be the right glove if you want to look cute in your Daisy Mae's but as a soft work gloves, they excel.

Perfect for your thorny landscaping job!
I bought these for my husband after we purchased 10 acres that was extremely overgrown with weeds/vines/plants/shrubs. We were concerned not only with thorns and brambles but with snakes (He is terrified of snakes) These gloves helped him clear out several feet of thorny and his words, 'snakey' vines with no problem. The cuffs come up well onto the arm and are thick and very protective while the hand part of the gloves are soft and malleable. We purchased the large for him and they fit him wonderfully. They are easy to use and will serve us well clearing the land. Hopefully we won't have to find out if they are snake proof.

Great for grooming long-haired Persian cat!
I just used these gloves for grooming my long haired Persian cat. Previously I used a facemask on the cat but still got scratch marks on my arms. What a difference! The gloves are soft enough to manipulate FURminator tools and combs. I did remove one of them to use a small scissor to remove a knot. Bites and scratches did not go through the gloves. The whole process took less time because of the gloves. I normally wear a 7 1/2 women's glove or a medium. I bought the extra small and they fit me perfectly. I highly recommend these gloves for pet grooming. I may eventually buy another pair to use in the garden where I'm sure they would be great.

These gloves won't fit Popeye.... but for the average person they should be great!
I normally wear a men's large glove and was wondering if these would fit. I measured my hand as they recommended and the circumference was 9.25". Ordered the large, and the HAND part fits just fine. However, the glove is very snug on the upper part of my forearm. The photo makes it look like the glove opening is huge - this is not the case. When I have the glove on, I can get a thumb in between the glove and my forearm, but that's it. My upper forearms might be a little larger than average, but certainly not Popeye-sized! LOL I will still be able to wear them, so they should be okay. But if your forearms are huge, you might have trouble with the fit on the upper forearm area. That said, the gloves are quality gloves. They seem to be well-made, and the padding on the hand should be sufficient for protection against most things you might handle. I used these for weeding today, and they were just what I needed. I have bad allergies to grasses and weeds. The past two years, I got very bad reactions on my arms just from weeds brushing against them. These gloves should protect me from that and I am most grateful that I was able to find such a product on Amazon. I am impressed with the customer service by this company, Exemplary Gardens. They have made it clear that customer service is very important to them and even emailed instructions on how to care for the gloves. I would certainly do business with them again!

Best I've Found
Photographs are very useful, colors accurate, size chart accurate. The gloves are certainly nice enough for gifts. After looking in local stores at less quality and higher prices for 2 seasons I'd decided to try Amazon. Nicest gardening gloves I've come across and also the best value after a 2 year search for a well made long gardening glove. The friendly Seller, Exemplary Gardens, follows up to be sure you got em' and are happy. The leather is a nice quality flexible, not stiff, goatskin; thick enough it won't wear through easily. The fingers are not skinny or bulky. The thumb is nicely sewn in separately so it folds flat toward the small finger just like your hand closes when you grasp. There's no bunching in the palm when you grasp tools. Nice firm grasp of pruning shears and tools. Other gloves are cut to patterns of a palm down- outstretched thumb which of course isn't how anyone actually uses their hand unless your waving. Size Medium from middle finger tip to wrist measures apx.7 1/4" to the thicker suede cuff. Cuff, wrist to edge at elbow, is 9". Circumference of cuff edge is 12 1/2". Seams inside are carefully trimmed. Pulling splintery wood grape stakes, thistles, grasping Holly branches with their impossibly stiff & sharp pointed leaves, and pruning roses; so far no punctures. Expectations are high my arms won't be torn pruning unforgiving lemon trees this Spring. In 80 deg f weather they don't feel warm. I've had goatskin gloves before; flexible, durable and your hands neither sweat nor get cold. That was a reason to pick this over cow leather or cow leather with fabrics.

No more wounds!
Excellent company to deal with. Came quickly and the workmanship is perfect. As a former Marine I am no stranger to pain but finally had to break down and buy some rose gloves! I probably should have sent them back but I have a lot of rose bushes that needed dead heading and pruning so I snapped to attention and attacked them. They work great! Absolutely no complaint! The reason I should have sent them back before soiling them follows. The left glove fit perfectly but the gauntlet was a little close though comfortable. The right glove was also a perfect fit but the gauntlet was VERY tight! So much so that after a couple of hour in the sun I had great difficulty removing the right hand glove! I'm talking yanking and tugging. I have always worn medium gloves but to be safe I ordered a Large pair thinking better too big than too small. I am not the Hulk. I have muscled arms but not freakishly so. I would suggest ordering a size up. If I could have split the order I would have ordered an XLarge for my right hand . That option wasn't available. Indeed I would be willing to buy a right hand XLarge if I had the option. Over all I give the Rose Pruning Gloves five stars because they work really great for avoiding cuts and scratches... but if you have any muscle in you forearms at all better order a size up cause they are extremely had to get of. I would still recommend them with that caution. Semper Fi Mike

If you have roses, you must get these gloves
Oh my goodness! I was skeptical at first that these would be as good as the reviews stated, but I figured I would try them since they couldn't be any worse than my regular garden gloves. They are absolutely amazing! I had 5 large (6 foot high and round) rosebushes that I needed to severely prune back. At first, I was handling the brush gingerly as usual for fear of getting poked, but when I realized that I wan't getting stabbed or scratched at all, I became more and more daring. By the end of my marathon clean up session, I was pushing the brush into the lawn and garden bags we must use for yard debris to compact the twigs into the bag. Hours of pruning work and I was poked twice... in the leg. I must admit to being amazed that nothing got through these gloves. I love to garden, and I told my husband that I feel stupid for not knowing these existed years ago. I feel like everyone who has a rose bush should have these gloves. In fact, I just bought two more pairs for my mom and my sister for Mother's Day and will be keeping them on my list of gift ideas for others.

Perfect for doing battle with Arizona Spiky Things
I bought these to use for trail clearing in Arizona, where every plant is festooned with spikes and ready to shred lesser gloves. When doing battle with fearsome brush, especially Cat Claw, these gloves did the job. The glove part over the hands did a good job of protecting my hands when picking up cuttings and grabbing stalks to move for access to a cut point. The cow leather forearm part did an excellent job of protecting my arms when reaching deep inside a murderous needle-equipped Death Bush. The goatskin part is functional and effective for many spiky plants. Just don't grab too hard and you'll be OK. I tried picking up a cholla cutting and despite being gentle, the devil plant managed to poke me a little bit through the glove. With any other glove I would have been thoroughly impaled and forced to whip out my hemostat to de-spike myself. With these I just brushed the offending spiky chunk off with a pair of clippers and moved on. No, you aren't going to win a punching contest with a saguaro, but for normal garden work, and even careful trail trimming, these are awesome.

Thorns, beware!
These gloves are the best ever! The quality is superb & they really do protect hands & forearms. I am babying these babies to protect them right back, keeping them clean & supple as recommended by seller (who, by the way, is wonderful! Proactively contacted me to ensure customer satisfaction). DEFINITELY recommend this item. {Note: sizing spot-on} Not only do they provide a superior quality item, they followed up with me to make sure I was & would continue to be a satisfied customer. THAT'S customer service!! I am disabled & do most of my shopping online, so I speak from experience - this is a top notch store & I highly recommend them. Maximum gold stars!
