Cuts through upholstery foam like butter
I bought this for the purpose of cutting upholstery foam and it is fabulous. It is like cutting butter. I had spent, no exaggeration, 45 minutes to carefully cut ONE four-inch cube of foam using a bread knife, a paring knife, and scissors. And it did not come out very evenly at all. I could not imagine doing seven more of them that way (I was making fabric covered foam baby blocks). I ordered this knife on Friday evening and received it on Sunday. In 15 minutes I had opened the box, read the directions, and cut the rest of the blocks. Magic! Very easy to assemble: you simply click the blades into the handle. (If you have not used an electric knife before: the two blades are used at the same time. They go back and forth to cut the material. It's not like you have one blade and an extra. Just thought that might be a helpful clarification.) Locking switch is good for safety. I did not find the handle difficult to hold, as I saw other reviewers comment about a different brand knife, so I think this one is a good choice. The body of the knife did become quite warm during several minutes of being turned on and off every 10 seconds or so, but cooled quickly as soon as it was turned off for a longer period.I don't think that is unusual or any kind of a problem. Cutting a piece of meat, I don't think you would have it on for that long at a time anyway. My only wish is that this one came with a case. It seems wise, and more convenient, to keep the blades out of the handle for storage, but of course you want them together. For the time being I will just use the box it came in, and see if I can find something sturdier. It does have a plastic sheath for the blades so that you don't cut yourself reaching for them. Very very pleased and hope it lasts (if it doesn't I will try to update this review). Plus, it will be nice for the holiday turkey (well cleaned) but I think mainly I will be using it for this craft purpose.

Easing carving for arthritic hands....
I gifted this knife to my mother, who has severe hand arthritis. She's been having a hard time carving up meat for years, and was too stubborn to try the electric knife. This holiday meals were easy to carve up. She loves it.

Great product, easy cleanup.
I recently bought a bread machine and discovered that cutting fresh baked bread is no easy task. Taking to the handy dandy internet for clues, I stumbled upon this wonderful product. This electric knife does the job quickly and easily, with easy setup and cleanup. The blades connect together to make them easier to handle and snap into the base securely. The locking feature is fantastic to have in a house with three kids in it. The blades are easy to remove for cleanup and have held up well to multiple runs through the dishwasher. I would highly recommend this to anyone because it's simply a wonderful item. I look forward to trying this on more items in the future.

For a $12 electric knife, this is a great buy!
I never had an electric knife (I always preferred to use my knife skills). I bought this one mostly to cut bottom round roasts for sauerbraten and boston butts for sausage. My first use was a 6.43 lb bottom round roast with a layer of fat on the bottom. The knife cut very smooth cuts. But when it got to the layer of fat, it took a little extra time to completely cut thru. Not a complaint, just an observation. I also found that slowly sawing the knife back and forth seemed to speed up the cuts (though this may have just been my imagination the same way people do this with chain saws thinking it helps). I was impressed with the feel of the soft grip as well as ease of cleaning. The cord is of ample length. The 9" blades are long enough without being too long to cause issues. Even though it is made in China the quality is as good as much more expensive models. And a 2 year warranty means if it craps out after that, it only cost $6 a year for a very useful tool! Check back as I will update this review after several more uses.

Great for Carving Upholstery Foam
I needed to carve some blocks of upholstery foam into the right size and shape to rebuild and recover the seats of our kitchen chairs. The place I got the foam blocks from would have shaped them for me but at a ridiculous price for the labor. I did a little research and discovered you can cut that foam with an electric carving knife. My research led me to this one. Pretty highly rated for the job. I bought it and I'm delighted to say that it worked perfectly. Easily cuts through the upholstery foam and I quickly learned how to carve the exact shape I needed for the chair cushions. This is not an exceptionally heavy duty knife but certainly held up well for the job I needed it for. I'm sure it would also do well at carving a turkey.

and I am so glad I listened
When I was considering this purchase, I asked the Amazon community if it would cut corrugated cardboard. One Amazon citizen evidently thought I was doing crafts, but all I really wanted was something to cut up all the boxes from Amazon and other online shopping places, because I do ALL of my shopping online now, and there is a LOT of cardboard. But another Amazon citizen said, absolutely, yes, and I am so glad I listened. I have to recycle SO much cardboard, because I can't drive anymore, and I live way out in the country, and online shopping is my lifeline. I can pull this bad boy out of the drawer, reduce the biggest, thickest box to dumpster size, and stuff it in my dumpster. I have no need to carve Steamship Round, but I DID need something to cut up all those boxes, and this lovely gizmo is a boon! It's an Exacto knife on steroids!

Perfect For Your Foam Cutting Needs...
What a great purchase, and for a very reasonable price! I bought this to cut a very thick (6 inch) memory foam mattress into cushions for the dinette/futon area of a vintage camper we're renovating, and I can't imagine any other tool doing a better job than this did. We set up two tables with a space between them, marked the mattresses with a marker, and went to town with this carving knife. The learning curve was very easy and it handled beautifully; it cut through the foam with no issues whatsoever. For under $20 it made what could have been an obnoxious and time-consuming job an absolute cinch, and it will be my default when cutting foam in the future. My review can't in any way speak to its ability with cutting meat, but if you're considering this for upholstery foam, I can assure you it cut a total of 7 very large, very dense six-inch thick cushions in a very short about of time, and doesn't seem any less sharp at the end of it. Highly recommended.

Easy To Use, Easy To Clean-Fantastic Electric Knife
This Electric Knife was reviewed at American Test Kitchen as the best. We decided to buy it. The price was excellent. This was very easy to use and extremely easy to clean. There is a button to lock it for safety. The on button is very easy to press with one's thumb. We carved a turkey and were extremely impressed about how well it worked to carve the turkey. We wish that we had bought this last Thanksgiving. We had it for this year's Thanksgiving and it did an excellent job. Plus the price was only $19.99 and it arrived a day early via our Prime Membership. We suggest that anyone who needs an electric knife try this one.

Cuts thru acoustic foam like an electric knife thru hot acoustic foam.
OK, so this thing is great, but I should admit right now I am NOT using it for food. I use it to cut acoustic foam. I was recently setting up my closet to use as a voice-over booth and knew I was going to need something to cut acoustic foam tiles. Someone on a forum recommended this type-o-knife and so I tried it out. And let me tell you it works great! It is super easy to make fast, smooth cuts in the foam and doesn't really leave any mess of foam bits. It is seriously kinda cool. As for how it is with cutting food, I have no idea. I would assume if you eat food that is the same density and consistency as acoustic foam, then this puppy would really do a bang up job.
