Fixed Lower than Normal Coolant Temperature

Direct drop in replacement for 2014 Chevrolet Silverado with 5.3. Part included thermostat, water outlet and rubber o-ring gasket. This replaced my original with 77k miles that was stuck open. Truck would not heat up past 180 then 160 degrees in the last week. Only noticed because the temp gauge was reading lower than normal. This replacement was simple. Drained about a gallon from the radiator petcock, removed air plenum, removed coolant hoses, then removed the three 10mm bolts holding down the thermostat housing. Reinstalled everything, refilled the dexcool in the coolant expansion tank and moved on with my day. Truck runs between 205 and 210ish degrees now and the gauge looks like it should again.

2016 Silverado LT 4.3 V6

Perfect fit, install. Performs perfectly. I believe I read somewhere that this is set for 208° and that seems very accurate. I did notice the old one I removed had a different part # than this one. Newer version maybe? It also says made in Mexico. Also, cheaper than buying from a dealer.

OEM quality & fit

Replaced thermostat and radiator on 2014 Silverado w/ 5.3. GM has a TSB for the original thermostat cycling too much causing cracks in radiator. My thermostat had clearly gotten lazy and wasn't getting up to full operating temperature in the cold Illinois winter. Replacing thermostat was super easy and immediately fixed the problem. Truck now quickly warms up to 210* as shown on the dash and produces cabin heat MUCH faster.

You need to disconnect upper Radiator hose.
