Great buy and interchangeable with Rubbermaid.
My wife saw this on Amazon and said to me that our old Rubbermaid mailbox — which looks exactly like this Gibraltar model — was so old and weather beaten that it was falling apart. We figured that we could modify the base of the new mailbox to fit on the old one's post, but we were elated to find out when the new box arrived that it matched the old one precisely. It was just a matter of pulling the old one off and putting the new one on. Made of durable plastic, the mailbox will not rust. If you live in a very hot climate as we have, you can figure that this mailbox should last about 15 years. If you live somewhere where the sun is not so brutally hot, this one might last you forever. Great buy and interchangeable with Rubbermaid. Highly recommended.

Best mailbox ever !
This is a great mailbox. Extra wide and tall so packages and big envelopes fit in it easily. And it's made of plastic so no rusting or denting. I have had two of these over the past 20 years and I only had to replace it because the red mail flag had broken when ice built up on it and it broke when the mailman tried to move it. But I just found out you can buy replacement flags from the company which is fantastic. Plus the yellow "mail arrived" flag makes it easy to see if the mail has been delivered. Highly recommend this for anyone needing to buy a mailbox.

If you feel about this mailbox the way I do, you'll like it a lot.
It is important to have self-sticking numbers (3" high) and letters (2") to affix onto the mailbox, and it is helpful to affix them before the mailbox is installed because it is so much easier then. There is a nice flat surface designed to receive these stickers on each side. One needs only four screws to affix the mailbox to a standard wood post, as there is a plastic channel underneath with pre-drilled holes that makes it all easy. You get to attach the yellow flag to whichever side you like, and there a plastic cap that snaps in place for the other side. I found this mailbox easy to install. It is practical and it looks good. I had one like it for years (at least 20), but the numbers and letters on it were beginning to peel off and I thought it was time to replace it for appearance sake.

Mail Lady Likes it
Bought to replace a smaller steel mailbox. Works as advertised. The mail lady likes it because it fits most packages and she does not have to come back drive and get out of vehicle to deliver to the door. I like the flat wide profile which is no higher than the old metal box but seems to have twice the space for small packages. This is important for winter when DOT is plowing snow, less broadside force on post.

The most durable rural mailbox I've found.
This box is the same as the old Rubbermaid mailbox. This one was to replace an older one clobbered by a snowplow. These are the most durable mailboxes I have found. Mine is mounted on a Minnesota DOT style mailbox swing away stand (look it up). They usually last me 10+ years of Minnesota climate and assault by overwide farm implements, snowplows, 40 below temperatures in the winter, and 90+ temperatures in the summer. These are way better than any other box I've tried, metal or plastic. They are also wide enough for a magazine or large envelope to lay flat. They have a nice little paddle on the side that goes up and stays up when the door is opened, handy to know the mailman has gone by. There is no provision to lock the box, but I don't need that here. The box will sun fade after a few years. It doesn't affect how it works but could be cleaned up with some paint. Number stickers will stick to it if you clean off the sides with alcohol first.

PATRIOTIC MAILBOX
I adore this new mailbox. I actually had the same one previously for about 10 years and it was perfect until I got too close to it one day with my car and screwed up the hinge for the door. The new one mounted with ease onto my existing Home Depot wooden mailbox post with arm (nothing fancy). I took that little yellow "Mail's Here!" arm and put if on the left side, then I strapped a little American flag to it so I could more easily see if from inside my house about 80 feet away. The flag also camouflages the significance of the "Mail's Here" arm -- when the postman has delivered the mail, the Stars and Stripes pops right up!. When I pick up the mail, I lower the flag but still keep it at an appropriate angle. In either position, the little flag just looks like a decoration -- it doesn't scream out "Mail's Here!" (just to me!). Another good thing, I can see the popped up flag as I pull in the driveway even though it's on the other side of the mailbox so I can see it from inside the house. I think the manufacturer should rethink its "received mail indicator" and turn it into a taller U.S. Flag. After all - they call the mailbox the "Patriot!" I've had this new mailbox now for a couple of months and it's working great. I especially appreciate that it can hold packages and magazines/catalogs lay flat.

Large capacity.. Love the yellow 'Alert' flag option
Great mailbox.... You do not need the Gibraltar Patriot Rust-Proof Plastic Black Mailbox Mounting Board, GMB225B to mount this mailbox to a horizontal 4x4 post. My wife and I love the little yellow flag that alerts you that that the mail has arrived.... Why all mailboxes do not come with this is beyond me.... Highly recommend!!!

Works great. Mounts out of the box just fine to a 2x6 or 4x4 already, no need to purchase the mount adapter for wood posts.

Durable quality --
I installed this "roomy" and attractive mailbox last fall. It has survived a very harsh winter, along with many uses for the door and the handy delivery-alert flag. There's no color fading and there are no signs of deterioration to its structure or great function. The install was super-easy with basic tools and clear pictorial instructions. All parts, including letters & numbers are included. The box replaced my former metal Gibralter mailbox that lasted for over 6 years. At first, I was reluctant to buy plastic, but so far, this mailbox is a winner.

Good Mail Box
Discovered that one doesn't necessarily need the extra mounting bracket to attach this to the wooden mail box post. Guess that's why it is not included. I bought this to replace an almost identical mailbox, which had just worn out and been bumped a couple of times by vehicles. Bumped hard enough to do some damage it is not flimsy. I live in Florida and didn't want metal as it rusts. Holds a shoe box size package and my mail. Works for me.
