Talk about a podcaster's best friend! The iRig 2 makes recording a phone call, Skype session or transforming your phone or tablet into a soundboard super easy. When plugging the iRig 2 into a mixer you get rid of the need for extra programs or devices to make the task of recording conversations easy and sounding great.

Very happy with this piece of gear. I particularly like the 1/4" mono out jack which makes it easy to plug my IOS effects into a guitar amp or into the amps effects loop. The gain and volume controls are very useful. I cannot detect any noise or latency from the iRig HD 2. I use it with an iPhone SE and an iPad Pro 12.9.

I’ve been using the irig to play my guitar through my iPad Pro. I must say I was expecting some latency when I bought but I can say that I do not notice even the slightest. I’ve been playing it through GarageBand, Tonebridge, and Cubase for iPad and it is working great though all of them. I love that I can monitor straight through the interface or plug back through an amp. Pricing seems a bit high but I would say this is worth it for a portable, and decent setup vs spending thousands for studio equipment.

PODCASTER GO TO TOOL If you run a Podcast and take calls or use a call in service like Skype, use a mixer and are able to Mix Minus. YOU HAVE to have an iRig. I run to my board with a TRS Y cable to fill both L&R channels then back into the iRig with a patch cable. Set the iRig gain per caller and send it to the recorder. A little bit of work on the board with the caller and the final recording sounds more like a studio guest over a call in. BIG Shout out to Ray Ortega for telling the world about this unit.

By now this is my 3rd iRig - I started with the first one, then upgraded to the next one when my phone had a lightning port. I just got a 2018 iPad Pro which has a USB-C port, and as far as I can tell there's no USB-C-to-lightning converter. Because of this, I got the iRig HD2 which can connect to both lightning and USB and it works great. The cables allow you to connect to anything USB, and one of the cables provided is a USB micro (for the iRig side) to USB-A (for the computer side). I read on one forum that you need a USB OTG (on the go) cable, but I don't know if that's strictly true or not. I bought a USB micro to USB-C OTG cable from Amazon for $8 and that works perfectly to connect the iPad Pro to the iRig.

It took 10 days to get here but it was totally worth it. This works perfectly great. I have no problems with it and it works exactly how it says it should. I use this for live concerts and recording. For live I use tonebridge (best thing ever for covers and for an exact sound based on a song) and amplitude (also very great and awesome). And that's just with my phone!!! With the Mac it's also very GREATT!!! And it brings amplitude 4???? This is honestly the best thing I've ever bought. Should of gotten it a while ago defiantly an upgrade for me. You won't be disappointed. Also I heard that some people had bad luck with it (my friend). His wasn't working. But customer service got to him fast and he got a new one with no problems and he is a very happy customer.

Seriously awesome! I'm a novice - so take that for what it's worth - but this was exactly what I was looking for to expand the sound coming out of my guitar. Works great with Ampkit and AmpliTube and I just love having so many options for pedals and amplifiers right there on my iPhone and iPad. Haven't even begun to scratch the surface of this device or the software but I'm loving it. Read all the reviews and make your own call if this is right for you (there are a few competing devices out there) but I give the iRig2 it a big thumbs up!

This little gem is a game changer for guitar practice for me and at only 40 bucks it may the best toy I ever purchased for my guitar playing. Here is why I love it so far. 1. I can practice with headphones now and all I have to do is plug in my guitar, headphones, and the iRig2 into my iPhone or iPad. 2. Portable and small. 3. No batteries needed! 4. The free app has several useful practice features allowing me to do away with having several apps open at one time to practice. The free amplitube app has a tuner, can import and play backing tracks, can slow down tracks, can add effects without pedals, can access the iPad's mic, can record my practice sessions, has a metronome and more. One app to rule them all! 5. I can also plug into an amp if I don't want to use headphones. 6. I don't wake my wife and kid up when I practice and don't annoy them when they are watching TV. 7. The sounds quality is excellent for my intended use. No feedback yet and the external gain control is nice too. 8. The free app is easy to use. I figured out everything I will use in five minutes. 9. Plug and play even for a newbie. 10. I get to try more amps and effects than I could ever afford to buy or even want to buy without ever leaving the house. Of course, some of those will cost extra as in app purchases so keep that in mind. 11. I practice more now because it is less of a pain to get going. 12. I practice any where I want without having to bring an amp. Just my guitar and a few small items in my gig bag. A few observations. For the record, I am using an iPhone and iPad without issue so I can't speak to how it works with Android or others. Seems pretty sturdy. The mic velcro could be useful in the future for live use. Packaging is nice. It is smaller than I thought it would be. The extra cost for in app purchases may annoy some but after reading some complaints, I was pleasantly surprised by what is included. I can't believe it only cost $40 and that it works as advertised. Big surprise. I expected more bugs but I guess this is pretty basic technology. Unless you are playing live for money or you need professional quality recordings, I would skip the HD version and save $60 by getting this one. Extra pedals, drums, and amps cost more. They range individually for as low as $2.99 and as high as $99 for an "everything they sell" bundle. You can download the Amplitube app for free and have a look at all the extras before you even buy the irig2 if you like and then delete the app if you choose later. I should have purchased something like this a long time ago. Happy playing everyone!

I originally ordered the iRig 2. It was very noisy and had no treble. I then ordered the iRig HD 2. This is more like it. It is quiet, has very nice treble and works great with AmpliTude! It even sounds great on the high gain amps with no noise gate! I am pleased.

Setup: iPhone 6S Plus <-> iRig HD 2 <-> JapUp Pro <-> Epiphone Custom Pro Output to: Headphones and 32-channel mixer. Clean crisp sound. No latency issues. And the battery consumption is somewhat lower than what I expected. I can play and leave it on for 1.5hours and drain 20% of the battery only. Update: 9/14/2018 (purchased 10/17/2017) The device is still working just as it did on day 1. I don't keep it in a special container, and despite that, it's been looking pristine. I still use it on live performances, wiring it directly to the mixer. Alternately, I've been using it on my Dell G3 15 3579, and the sound quality is just phenomenal. When on PC i use the Amplitube 4 PC app that came with it. There's just so much I could do with this thing. I'm currently eyeing the Amplitube iStomp I/O to up my recording and live performance gear.
