I had gen 1 for about 3 months, was getting offline messages from the wink app for my bulbs. I have GE link and Lightify. Thinking it was the wireless so I purchased Wink Hub 2. It has been doing the same thing. House is only 1600 sq ft and hub is in the center. Some bulbs are 10ft away from hub and some are 30 ft from hub and both still go offline. I hope I can get this under control. Will be calling the help line if I can't figure it out myself. Will update either way. UPDATE: I call wink support and talked with Nathan (nice guy). He said that this shouldn't be happening and looking at my system. Then put me on hold for a short time. Came back and said that there is a known problem and a firmware fix should be pushed to the hub in a day or so. Will update again soon. Update: I went ahead and reset all the bulbs that had went offline. I didn't delete them from wink app. I then added them back on with the app. It gave me warning each time that it is taking longer than expected. I would then go the the reset instruction and cancel. At that point the bulbs were back online and with the original name that I had given them. So far this is working. Will update if they start falling offline again. Update: Since last update only 3 of my 44 bulbs have gone offline. (2) GE link and (1) Lightify I am still in contact with Wink support and they say they are working to fix the issue. While it is better still not 100% Update: I recently reset the bulbs that went offline and then moved the hub to about 6 feet off the floor. Since doing this 5 days, ago none of the bulbs have went offline. I don't know if there was an update recently or if it was raising the hub a few feet that did it. All has been working great now for 5 day!!!!! Update: All still working just great! I might have to turn a light off and then back on to get it to reconnect but that is not that often. I would say it is time to give 5 stars!!!!

I love my Wink Hub 2! I am new to Amazon Echo and Alexa, so I thought it would be great to add light control. The Wink was quick to plugin. I wish the power cord was long, and the angle of the plug is annoying, it takes up too much space. Once you plug it in, download the app and setup a free account on your phone. I ran into a problem here, the app could not find the Wink on my network. So I forced quit the app on my phone, and when I restarted the app it automatically found the GE switch I had installed. From there I renamed the switch on the Wink app, and then add the Wink to the Alexa app. It took total of an hour total. Light control is immediate, no delay... fantastic!

I been doing home automation projects since the X10 system was the BMOC. More recently I installed a Smartthings (ST) hub. After awhile is seemed I more tolerated than enjoyed my current Home Automation system. ST was slow, a whole host of lights would randomly go offline and whenever there was a power outage I lost total control of my lights among other things. The whole interface was clunky. Even the much slicker Hue interface couldn't help keep me looking for alternatives because most of my automation was through the ST hub. Today,. I moved to a Wink hub and I am loving Home Automation again. After installing the Hub 2, I added some GE Link lights. While the system does seem to work pretty well, except for the interface improvements, I was not wowed. Then I moved to the Wink Relay. The instructions were VERY clear. I had to look up who to determine the load from the line wire but that took just a minute and in about 10 minutes I had replaced the original ST scene controller (which I could never get to work) with the Wink Relay. Once connected to the my local WiFi the Relay updated itself and walked me through the set up and no time I went from useless blue lights to a very cool touch pad on the wall that controls lights in both my den and my home office. There are two hardware switches on the Relay, in addition to the touch scree that control lights in the switch box, or set to control other Wink linked devices Not only were the instructions ridiculously clear and easy to follow but the tools needed to most of the install came in the box. About the only thing they didn't mention was to remove the screen cover on the Relay before using it. I might have to talk myself into another one of these for the upstairs! After getting the Relay installed I moved back to the Hue lights, the rest of my non GE lights and wall switches, Removing them from ST and immediately installing them on Wink was easy. I was able to replace 25 devices in about 2 hours. Most of it fussing with the darn GE lights can be fussy. Alexa, Hue, Wink Relay and oh yeah the remaining ST devices are working quite well. Voice automation has been restored to most of my main duties, I have created a couple of robots already and tomorrow I will finish replacing the remaining ST devices and then remove the ST hub FOREVER! To be fair, I started with ST early and liked what I saw. I made it work for me but after countless system failures and seeing more than a few promises broken, using the ST system was like driving with a slow leak in a tire. You know you'll get there eventually but the rough ride and worry about what might happen until it gets fixed took all the air (if you'll pardon the pun) out enjoying the system. The system isn't perfect, I wish robots worked with Hue devices but I think that might happen soon. Another small thing is the group names used for lights get transferred into the Alexa app and can cause some confusion. Other than that my initial impressions of the Wink system are very positive. I am excited about home automation again and looking for more places to add devices. If you're on the fence about Wink or looking to move to a system that appears to be ready for prime time then check the Wink system out. For the record I have absolutely no connection to Wink or even know anyone else that has a Wink system. The excitement expressed in this review is from the smoothness I found replacing my ST system and having things actually work!

I love it. The Wink Hub 2 simply works. It has connected to switches made both by GE and Leviton, always on the first try. The Wink app is very good as well. I'm sold on it. Now I want everything in the house to connect to Wink. I have my cable modem and router in a media closet near the center of our home, and I put the Wink Hub 2 right next to the router connected by a 6" ethernet cable - the Wink app on my phone recognized and connected to the Wink Hub 2 that instant. I connected 7 light switches GE Z-Wave Plus Wireless Smart Lighting Control Smart Switch, On/Off, In-Wall, Includes White & Light Almond Paddles, Works with Amazon Alexa / Google Home, 14291 and 3 dimmers GE Z-Wave Plus Wireless Smart Lighting Control Smart Dimmer Switch, In-Wall, Includes White & Light Almond Paddles, Works with Amazon Alexa, 14294 to wink, as well as an outdoor switch GE Z-Wave Wireless Smart Lighting Control Outdoor Module, On/Off, Plug-In, Black, Works with Amazon Alexa, 12720 and plug-in outlet switch in the garage Leviton DZPA1-2BW Decora Smart Plug-in Outlet with Z-Wave Plus Technology, White and I am loving it. I have timers set for outdoor lights, I can control indoor lights, and I have a timer set for a fountain in the back. A Wink employee had told me that the Z-Wave switches form a mesh network, strengthening the signal throughout your home. I found this to be true. The outdoor outlet switch that I use for the fountain was my first purchase. I connected it to a small fan and walked around the house looking for dead spots and found two. Now that I have 10 in-wall light switches with Z-Wave Plus, there isn't a dead spot to be found. I have chatted with Wink support online several times, too, and have always found them friendly and helpful. (I prefer online chat to calling them, though I had to call once.) The first time was about the dead spots, the other times were about Wink approved products and helping me decide what to buy for my needs. My Honeywell thermostat also connects to Wink Hub 2, but the Honeywell app offers better controls for a thermostat, so I disconnected that from the Wink Hub. If you want to get into this whole control your lights from your phone thing, the Wink Hub 2 is a great way to go. Now I never have to get out of bed to turn off the lights that my wife always leaves on!

I decided to try out some automation with Wink and Echo Dot. The Wink HUB was extremely easy to set up, just follow the simple steps and it's ready to go. I paired it with the Echo Dot, and Alexa makes it that much better! All I have to do now is tell Alexa to turn on or off lights, if I leave one on in the living room when I go to bed, she's got it covered for me. I'm very impressed with the simplicity of the Wink HUB, the very nice and clean design, and the ease of use from setting up, adding new items to be controlled, and pairing with Alexa. One thing I ws concerned about was the crappy wi-fi signal I had to the living room, but I found that Wink stayed connected well - I only had to reset it one time. I've since remedied the crappy signal, and expect no more issues with connection. I look forward to expanding on automation with the Wink HUB!

The original Wink hub is great but it seems only tinkerers and DIY'ers like myself feel that way. It's understandable because the original Wink takes patience, patience and some more patience. It's outstanding if you're willing to reconnect it, re-pair lights and be willing to forgive some times it disconnects. All that said, the price is outstanding and it's worth it if you like going that route. I didn't have a lot of issues but some growing pains that were easy to handle. I've not experienced (knock on wood) these same issues with the Wink Hub 2 and it's been intelligent in adding items (it automatically added a Wink Relay I just got whereas I'd have had to add it manually on my old hub). There have not been connection issues and it is a TON faster than the original. More on that later... Migrating my hub to the new one took 10 minutes and it was so simple and intuitive. Hooking it up via Ethernet cable is a MUST to me at least (something the first iteration could not do). This version is ready for the masses (if only all the bulbs and such by other companies were as well). Pros: Hub migration from the first is easy and fast. I didn't have to re-pair anything Sleek design Hooks to router via Ethernet (hardline) to avoid spotty connections Automatically pairs to new items So simple A good deal for the price Cons: Not much so far...Philips Hue lights are faster but they still have to go to the cloud I am pretty sure and take longer than Z-Wave items...by orders of magnitude Isn't hooked up to Google Home (yet?) Give us Bluetooth!! I would love for this to pair to Bluetooth light switches already in my possession! This hub is great because unlike the original for me, robots work flawlessly and so does IFTTT. If you want to have a great smart home experience without the growing pains, go with this version of the hub and I don't think it will disappoint you. Plus the customer service is very helpful and local to the USA. I had an issue with the Wink Relay I just got and them coupled with Amazon did an Amazing job getting me taken care of! Highly recommended!!!

Really glad I finally settled with the Wink Hub 2. I used the Vero Plus and the Kwikset deadbolt but that system was constantly going off line and the deadbolt would lose connectivity. I switched to the Wink Hub 1 and a Schlage deadbolt and had much better connectivity. Decided to upgrade to Wink Hub 2 so I could have it hard wired into my router and since then I have not had any issues with losing connection. Satisfied customer with Wink Hub 2 and Schlage Camelot deadbolt. I use this at a vacation home so having reliable connectivity is critical so I can set and reset renter pass codes before and after check in.

After poo pooing home automation for years, I finally had an application. I picked the Wink Hub 2 partly based on user and journalist reviews, and also because it strikes me as the Swiss Army Knife of control devices. It may not be the very best at any one piece of functionality, but it works with the most number of protocols, and therefore devices. Having a single platform to see and integrate all or at least most of my devices has a lot of appeal to me. While my initial application used only z-wave devices and probably could have been controlled with a smartphone, I really didn't know what I might do in the future. The payoff came sooner than expected when our garage door opener failed and the replacement came with Wi-Fi capability. Rather than using yet another smartphone app, I use the Wink app to see status, operate the door, and in the future trigger some lights. Connecting devices has been easy, although I did need to call need to call for help with toggle wall switch that didn't have any indicator lights to help me understand connection status. Most devices have lights to help. The Wink agent was super knowledgeable, and easy to understand.

Ok...I am a tech junkie. I love my home being WIFI, Wink Relay, Lights, Door Locks, Switches, Plugs Smoke Detector, Carbon Monoxide Tester, Door sensors, and Celling Fans. I would have more but I am limited by better half keep telling me that's enough. I just laugh. The Wink Hub 2 works a little faster than the first one and able to see more products. I wanted to but my Son a hub. So I gave him my old Wink Hub and got myself Wink Hub 2. It was easy to transfer everything over from my old Wink Hub into the new Wink Hub 2. it was a easy setup took about 7 minutes to update through the Wink App. I have had zero issues like all wink product there is never an issue. No monthly fees, once setup you done. Wink is a great company customer support is great. I would work for the company of they had anything out here on the east coast. I love everything wink does. I can control almost everything in my home and get alerts on the doors opening, being unlocked, lights on and so on. If you are looking to automate your home here is the start and a being Wink you can't go wrong. GREATEST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET TODAY!!

Received our new Wink-2, last Saturday. First, we connected the hub to our Amazon DOT. We added the Logitech Harmony skill to our wink hub, and can now turn on/off our entertainment system. Okay, so kind of a waster of money to buy this hub, just for that. For us, this was more of a "proof of concept". We then added the Leviton Z-wave plug in controller, to our family room lamp. Now we can turn this light on and off by asking Alexa. Adding a new smart switch for our outside lights, so we can turn them on from a restaurant, should our dinner extend beyond dark. from the restaurant. No coming home to a dark home, as we can also turn the family room lamp on. Wife thought this was an expensive toy but now sees the merit of home automation, at a reasonable "pay as you add" price. We plan to add a Z-Wave door lock, as we sometimes forget to lock our front door, as well as other modules. The Wink 2 hub, uses Z-Wave a secure local protocol that stays within the home. Remote interface if through Wink's web app in the cloud, that we can access by our smart phones. (Android and IPhone are both supported). Security cameras and alarms are in the wish list. Husband happens to be a retired computer network engineer, however watching him do the setup and install, I could have done it, and I am a retired school teacher very little computer experience other than normal email and web browsing.
