I’ve bought other bottles and I am very impressed with these over any others. They come in different sizes and I have both the beer bottle size & the larger. I recently used them for bottling some Kombucha and they work well. I like that they come with extra gaskets and the metal hinge top is already attached on arrival. They also are easy to close - the company offers other bottling options (sizes & shapes) and they give extra safety instructions which is thoughtful. No broken bottles and they easily stand up to a second fermentation. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Very helpful vendor, helped meet my expectations

My experience with this product and vendor has been an interesting one, this review is an update to a 1 star initial impression which I deleted. In short, I was accommodated greatly by the vendor, after receiving a two defective shipments back to back. As a result, I have been on the fence on giving a 5 versus 4 star rating, but considering the quality of the final product I received, and after putting it through fairly tough testing, I see no reason why 5 stars is unwarranted. If you care to see the details of my experience, read on- ---- My first shipment of 6 bottles arrived with 1 bottle broken. Upon inspection, the glass was cracked due to an imperfection (the packing was wonderful, and there was no visible damage to the outer package at all), one rather large bubble had begun breaking the glass and growing outward. I received an email from their customer service after placing the order indicating that they would have a hassle free solution for any defective products, and so I took a picture, and explained the situation. To my dissatisfaction, they responded by refunding the cost of a single bottle. [An aside: Personally, I don't feel this is an adequate solution, I would much rather replace the entire package, if I order 6 bottles, I expect to have 6 bottles, not 5 plus a refund. I realize this is my opinion, but even after the rest of these events, I still would have expected an exchange.] Admittedly, I misread the response from the customer service representative. I read their response as though they expected me to purchase -another- shipment with my refund, but they were explaining the refund reduced the cost of my first shipment. They have no way of shipping a single bottle, they can only be purchased in the full pack. I responded saying this solution was not acceptable, and the vendor refunded my entire first order. Still in need of that extra bottle, I placed a second order with my refund, in good faith from the support I had received. The second order arrived completely intact, not a single issue. I went about my routine, and bottled a batch of kombucha in 6 bottles. During second fermentation, I burped the bottles, and after resealing one, heard glass starting to crack. I emptied the bottle, and found that the glass started to break on the bottom, in another imperfection in the glass - another cluster of bubbles. The rest of the bottles went as expected, and went on without issue. Because of my experience, I wrote my initial 1 star review. I was contacted by Annie, who identified herself as one of the owners of Otis Classic, in response to my review. We exchanged messages through Amazon, and eventually had a call to chat about my experience. Annie helped to find the misunderstanding between myself and the customer service representative, and wanted to make sure I received an accurate representation of their product. [To reiterate, the 'misunderstanding' was my own - Frances from Otis Classic's Customer Support team was very helpful and clear, I misread a key part of their response. Still, even with my own misunderstanding, Frances still tried to help make things right.] Annie refunded my second purchase, and sent me a third order, at no cost to me. In return, I feel as though I owe a proper review of the product. Using exclusively this third shipment, I have just completed a batch of second fermentation of kombucha, untouched for around 80 hours. I experienced no cracks or breaking, no seals leaked, and have had no issues with the flip tops opening or closing. This third shipment is what I expected to receive from the start. At this point, I cannot personally be confident of the quality of my next shipment, however I can say that I will continue to purchase from this vendor, and that the quality of other reviews keeps me from being concerned that my next order will have any issues.

Great Bottles!!

The bottles I received were packaged very nicely and they arrived in perfect condition. They seal very nicely and I have made a couple batches of fizzy kombucha with them so far. They are easy to open and close (especially nice for burping my Kombucha). As I mentioned before the bottles were packaged very nicely and each bottle was in a bubble wrap sleeve within it's own compartment in the box. I actually put each bottle back in the bubble wrap sleeve and into the box with compartments for my second fermentation. BONUS!!!! Very satisfied with my purchase and will be buying more real soon so I can get a good cycle of Kombucha going.

I was so excited to get this package in the mail! The bottles were all packed perfectly and had no flaws at all. I washed them and sat them on my counter next to our brewing kombucha to wait to be filled. They made my brewing station in the little corner of my kitchen look so professional. I bottled our brew and set them to ferment a little longer. Three days later I opened one to check the fizz and BAM! Fiz was there and it was just what I wanted:) The bottles withheld the blast and the kombucha was the best I have made yet!

Awesome product. This is the first time I purchase fermenting bottles, so I was unsure of what to check for as far as imperfections or cracks. I saw that most bottles have litle bubble-looking things in some areas that I assumed would be "imperfections," but it turned iut to be normal. I filled my bottles with a fermented drink I made and when I opened one a few days later, the amount of pressure that had build up inside sent 2/3 of the liquid out into the air. Needless to say, these bottles work perfectly and not a single one broke. They come with awesome blackboard labels and a chalk pen w/ eraser for labeleing. Fantastic product through and through and for the price, you cant beat it. Of course this is my personal experience. I was emailed by the company letting me know that should anything be broken or any issues arise concerning their product, to let them know so they can take the necessary steps to fix or replace anything. And should you order this product and find something wrong, reach out to the company and they will gladly assist you; remember that mistakes do happen and good customer service, which they provide, is key.

Love the quality of these bottles as compared to other brands

Love the quality of these bottles as compared to other brands that I have been using for bottling water kefir. Reasons for the good rating if comparing to the similarly priced curved and straight-sided bottles of other brands. The flip top bails are Stainless steel vs Galvanized steel; thickness of glass is heavier than my old Italian bottles, and other brand and more important uniform; good packaging; seals are higher quality higher pressure seals; bails are longer resulting in a better lever cam, bail tightness is uniform and not too hard to undo; straight sides are perfect for labeling. These bottles are strong and withstand the higher pressures required for some of my water kefir that has exploded some other brand bottles. Have used both the Clear & Brown bottles. For water kefir, I prefer the clear for easier filling and seeing the stage of the second ferment along with aiding in the opening and cracking / slowly opening high carbonation without campaign style spouting of contents.

Excellent Product!

I've used these bottles for Kombucha ferments and found them to be excellent. The glass is heavy and durable and the swing lids are well made. The seals provide 100% coverage between the brew and the plastic plug that holds the seal. I might add that the wire on the swings are stainless steel which prevents metallic corrosion when in contact with acids in the brew and cleaning solutions. The lids hold the pressure very well and will still open easily when the sugars in the Kombucha have formed a residue against the seal.

Nice Kombucha Bottles

Great quality. I ordered these for Kombucha and they are perfect. I plan on ordering another box of 6 because they worked so well. The rings and wire seals on the bottles were easy to open and close and nice and tight. They come with extra seals which is nice also. I do recommend this brand as I have seen others in stores but they did not appear to be of equal quality. These are the good ones.

Great bottles for water kefir

I use these to do a 2nd fermentation of water kefir and they are great. I've tried another brand where the bottles were shorter and squatter and I like these much better. They are easy to open and close and do a great job of letting the carbonation build up. Sometimes I have a little explosion the carbonation has built up so much, but I've never had a bottle break. They fit perfectly inside Pringles containers and I taped some Pringles containers together to make a little carrier I put in a cloth bag to share with my family. I ordered a long bottle brush from Amazon to help clean them, but usually if you get it rinsed out right away after using it, it won't require using the bottle brush, which is a bit of a pain. I've even bought these as a gift for a friend that started making her own water kefir after I introduced it to her.

Nice bottles!!! Nice vendor !!!

I received these bottles in great time. I really like the shape of them, easier to clean them and they take less space in the refrigerator. I received only 5 extra gaskets not 6. My first time using these bottles and my kombucha is nice and fizzy. I like the clamp wires, they are a narrower gauge from my other flip top bottles. They are easier to open, hoping they hold up..I think they will. I am pleased with my purchase. The vendor sent me an email thanking me for purchasing the bottles and checking to see if everything was ok. I'd like some 32oz bottles like this!! *Update..I received a credit toward the one absent gasket from the bottles from the vendor ( I didn't ask or request a credit or anything because I am so pleased with the bottles). I really like this company and their products. A very nice company to work with. I will buy more bottles from this company.
