A great thermometer. I can even see ambient temperature with it. The sharp point goes in easily and seeing the accurate temp fast can't be beat. Except for the protective sleeve.... It protects the thermometer and is easy to clean. You can even clip it to your shirt and with the ring I actually have it hanging in a conspicuous place in my kitchen so I don't have to keep diving into the utensil drawer. It sure exceeded my expectations.

I love it! This was my first digital thermometer, and it is so easy to use. You push one button to turn it on and the other to chose between Fahrenheit and the other to use Celsius. It remembers which measurement you prefer. It is so quick and easy to use for meat. So far, I've used it on roast beef and turkey, and it hasn't let me down. I was a little apprehensive with the turkey, hoping that the dark meat would be done, but it measured 165 at the thigh, so I took it out. No more overdone turkeys! The temperature was spot on, and the meat was tender and juicy. Roast beef was even easier. I prefer mine rare, but it's so hard to gauge when the meat is not perfectly round (and what roast is?). I checked in both the thick and thinner spots of the roast and got my 130 degree temperature (a little higher at the thinner spot) and voila, perfectly rare roast. The only improvement I would make is to have a somewhat brighter or larger screen, but I have bad eyes. It's probably fine for most people.

I tested this against boiling water and it came within a reasonable expected range. For me as a hobbyist cook, this works just fine. It is actualy pretty nice not to have to guess if my hamburgers are medium rare or rare or well. I and as far as broiling goes it always takes time to learn a new oven. Given that i seem to move ever 5 years or so, this has helped me to dial in how long it takes to cook a steak pretty darn fast. I keep expecting this inexpensive temp gauge to break at any moment, but it seems to be holding in there just fine. I have seen fancier gauges go for 5x the price. I cant see that they would be all that different from this one. Maybe they are more precise, but in my opinion its not about precision as much as it is about approximation for my style of cooking.

The thermometer works perfectly, the display is to the nearest tenth of a degree, and though it does wash out slightly in bright sunlight, one merely must step back from the smoker/grill into the shade to view the digits. I must say that being able to tell the interior temperature of food dramatically increases the precision as well as options for cooking food (stove and ALL outside methods): merely stick the thermo in and immediately, all debates about pink/red/red-brown/brown/nuked/Trump-steak are ended systematically and with a minimum of drama. The result is that cooking for those with a phobia of germs is simpler, and s/he experiences a wonderful porterhouse and more importantly ground-beef-balls/burger-patties for the first time ever!!!!! PS It took me about fifteen minutes to figure out that the included battery IS preinstalled, and no further installation of said battery was needed. An additional paper notice would be nice...

As a working chef for over 30 years, I've gone through dozens of thermometers, and this one stands out. I actually purchased this by accident while buying several thermometers to try with the intent of buying a dozen for my crew. I was looking for thermometers that can be field-calibrated and as far as I can tell, this one can't. But I intend to buy more of these because they are accurate, easy to read, and just more pleasant to use. They are tough, and I love the ring on the end: I keep this one hanging on a hook near our ranges so I don't have to hunt it down. It does not ride easily in my chef's coat, but that is due to the longer probe. Which I LOVE. In two weeks I have used this one thermometer over 130 times, all with pleasure. Will post an update in a few months on its durability.

Love it, it is accurate, however we do wish it had a backlight to make it easier to read. We used it for the first time on Thanksgiving on the turkey, turned out wonderful..And it has a great warranty on it, for the price would not have thought it would :) Would recommend it!

I purchased this in order to get accurate measurements when making yogurt in my instant pot, and to verify the internal temperature of meat when cooking. I had another glass Mercury type one that was sufficient for yogurt, but it was too blunt and thick for meat. This one will be perfect for both. The temperature also was faster to get the accurate temperature with this thermometer. One thing I like the most about it, was that it would turn itself off if I forget to turn it off. One thing I like least about it is that it requires batteries, which I hope will be easy to find when I need a replacement battery.

There isn't too much to say about this item. I bought it as a Christmas stocking stuffer for my mother to replace an "instant read" thermometer that was neither instant nor gave accurate temperature readings. The first use was later that day with a holiday roast, and the improvement was noticeable. This thermometer, despite its bargain basement price, was truly instant and, judging by the doneness of the meat, quite accurate. If and when I need a new thermometer for myself, I'll likely pick up one of these too.

I grill a lot and hate overcooking meats. I have used a number of Taylor brand meat thermometers, that all had bells and whistles, but usually quit working shortly after their warranties ran out. Another one I bought last year, I forget the brand, had a probe that folded, and beeped when the particular meat you were cooking, from a menu, got to a certain stage of doneness, but it also failed. Spending $7 on this was a bargain. It's instant read, and you simply have to drag out your smartphone and Google whatever temperature is corresponds with the level of "doneness" that you prefer, and then just check it frequently. When I grill, I try to do so with those diamond shaped grill marks, and doing so placing the meat on the grill at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock angles, and then flipping the meat twice on each side. For thick chicken breasts, for example, I give them about 4-5 minutes per side on a hot grill (which sears the marks,) and then checking the temperature after the flipping them to the final stage. This unit works great. Also, I had my air conditioner just fixed on my car, after it had been working intermittently. (2007 Subaru Forester). The problem was the 11 year old 0-rings were letting coolant gas escape. Anyway, after the repair, I verified the temperature coming out of the dash vents, and it was reading about 55 degrees, here in Austin, when the ambient temperature was over a hundred. So you don't have to limit its use to cooking. The only way this product could be improved is if they made it dishwasher safe, which would probably prohibit manufacturing it this cheaply. Forget the fancy meat thermometers that take you longer to figure out how to use them, because they have a crappy track record for longevity, at least in my experience. Heck, at this price, you can buy two and just leave one in the package until the first one wears out. :)

Ordered this thermometer to use for Thanksgiving and we weren't sure if it was going to work well, but ordered it based on the reviews/ratings and cost. We are glad we decided to order it! We tested the thermometer in water for accuracy (we already knew what temperature the water was at), so we tested this thermometer to see if it would read the same temp....it did! So the accuracy of this thermometer is excellent. The price is great too! For around $8 you get a very nice digital thermometer that is accurate and easy to use. I would recommend trying this thermometer.
