This monarch momma loves it!
Perfect for this monarch momma! Milkweed is in a garden rather than a pot so it's hard to isolate. This is big enough for good sized clippings and zipper area is wide enough to change it without disturbing "the kids" Viewing window is a nice touch too!

Wonderful for protecting caterpillars until they are ready to emerge into beautiful butterflies
Just wonderful! I bought this for the 2nd batch of caterpillars that made a home on my dill plant. The 1st batch turned into beautiful black swallowtails and got attacked by the wasps after they exited their chrysalises. I know it's nature, but the wasps were attacking them before they could even fly, landing on them and such. I couldn't bear to watch and had to shoo the wasps away. When the swallowtail butterflies came to lay their eggs again, I sprung into action and ordered this right away. Shipping was super fast and I got it in a couple of days. I was able to put my entire dill plant inside and water it without disrupting the caterpillars. It was so neat to watch them everyday. Munching away at the plant, growing bigger every day, building their chrysalises, and then emerging into beautiful butterflies. I let them practice flying for a couple of hours before releasing them. This is a must have!

Perfect for anyone who likes to watch the insect world...
While pruning my milkweed plants last month (February) I found three industrious monarch caterpillars munching away (this is California, mind you; we don't really have what you could call a real winter and lots of life forms live here year round). I brought them inside to provide some protection against our unbelievable rains (welcome after the drought, but not so good for small caterpillars) and watched as they grew and finally turned into pupae. I bought this habitat, placed the pupae inside, and a few weeks later was rewarded with three amazing & beautiful monarchs. The cage is large enough that they did fine for a few days (on nectar substitutes) and when they became a bit restless and seemed to want to do more serious flying, I just took the habitat outside, unzipped it, and watched them float away. One of them actually returned to the habitat, which I left outside and open with the feeding station still inside; it stopped in, had a quick drink, then flew away for good. I'm always finding fascinating insects & other creatures in my garden and am delighted to have a proper environment for these them (I even found the most fetching little chocolate-colored centipede that plugged around earnestly for a few hours before I turned him loose again) -- I bring them in to watch for a day or two, then release them back into the garden. The large viewing window makes bug-watching a breeze, and the fabric is gentle on the wings of whatever happens to be inside (assuming it's winged, which centipedes and spiders aren't, of course). It folds up easily for storage, pops open in a second, and is perfect for my needs.

Was very happy with this purchase
Was very happy with this purchase, I previously had used the plastic wonder bubble habitat to raise Monarchs, and while that one managed to keep the milk weed fresh longer, the moisture in it it also allowed for more bacterial and protozoan growth that gave me a lower rate of survival. I happily raised 19 butterflies from eggs at the same time in this unit, it was very easy to keep it clean and everybody did well together. My only complaint would be that they really did not seem to care for hanging their chrysalis on the mesh roof, which caused them to instead go and hang underneath the leaves of the plant they were living on, which of course I had to remove them from because they were cuttings that died before they were hatched. I ended up hot gluing A couple of sticks to the mesh roof so they had something more solid to hang from which seemed to work better. Out of 19, only two of them ended up naturally hanging from the mesh ceiling. I also love how easy it is to fold up and store until next year. All in all, quite happy with this purchase.

This is a wonderfully designed butterfly cage
This is a wonderfully designed butterfly cage. The window on one side makes it easy for little kids to watch the caterpillars eat and grow. The zippered side makes it easy to change out plant pots, water, and release butterflies. I highly recommend growing butterflies in an enclosed environment like this one to keep them safe from predators while they are growing. Put this cage in a safe spot where it will not fall and risk tearing on something - butterfly predators are very small and can go through small holes. Though well designed, the material is delicate. I hope to get more in the future for classroom purposes.

Baby it's cold outside! This holds a potted (well rinsed off) milkweed plant for more natural indoor development of the caterp
Got this and another one from a different company, one for the caterpillars, one to put them in when they start crawling to the top to form chrysalis. Much prefer this cage to the other, easier access with their zipped panel. I'm using this inside as the only reason I took the caterpillars in is because cold and rain was starting so wanted to help them survive. I'd love it if the top also zipped back, but since that might make escape to easy happy as is. Had three cats, then two more surprised me, have a small [potted milkweed plant inside the cage so no worry about leaves getting too dry and the cats can crawl everywhere like they do outside. put a removable plastic tray in the bottom that I dump every morning of the cat poo and today moved the first one who showed clear signs of getting ready to be a butterfly to the other brand cage which will be fine for chrysalis. All's good.

Genuis ... love it!!!
Just received this today and I LOVE it! I'm new at raising caterpilars, and needed something to protect a TON of black swallowtail cats I found on my parsley (a ton as in 45 cats and about 30 eggs!). Initially, I cut each stem of parsley that had cats or eggs on them and put them in a vase of water. However, I have read that they can sometimes fall into the water and drown ... and I didn't like the idea of putting all the cats in tupperware containers and constantly having to change out unfresh food. So, i visited my florist and got 4 dozen of the rounded end floral tubes (3 cents a piece), filled each with water, and put each stem in the tube. Then I took two boxes, and cut x's to hold each tube upright and put the two boxes in the habitat. Here's something I haven't seen anyone else mention: I used the plastic side as the BOTTOM and lined it with paper towels to make cleaning easier (and this weekend will be putting potted parsley in). Unfortunately, with all these cats I think I'm going to need another one or two of these habitats to house everyone! Also, this came with no holes, tears, hanging threads or anything indicative of sub-par quality.

great value for money
This was exactly as described, great value for money. I am using it to raise some swallowtail caterpillars. I love the side access, previous enclosures that I have used have access from the top, I found that this would often disturb any caterpillars that had decided to pupate on the roof if I needed to get in to replace cuttings. I highly recommend this if you are looking for an enclosure for this purpose.

The zipper is of good quality. It washes easily with soap and water
The Trasfit Insect and Butterfly Habitat Terrarium is just what I needed. In fact I bought 2. The zipper is of good quality. It washes easily with soap and water. There is a clear plastic side that you can use to look into the Habitat or you can turn the Habitat up on an end so a potted plant will fit. I put a potted butterfly weed inside the Habitat. That way the caterpillars had plenty to eat. If that is not possible you just have to supply them with fresh butterflybush leaves everyday. The caterpillars will attach themselves right to the netting for about 10 days before the Monarch butterfly appears We have had three caterpillars that made chrysalis and then 3 beautiful Monarch butterflies too release into the garden. Picture below shows the different stages of a Monarch

my caterpillars love it! This is a really breathable
Well, my caterpillars love it! This is a really breathable, and easy to clean terrarium with a nice plastic clear side that allows you to see your insects without unzipping the entrance. I currently have 15 monarchs at different stages in my terrarium, 5 caterpillars and 10 chrysalises. And there is still plenty of room for more! The terrarium is big enough to hold a large mason jar full of milkweed without making it difficult to clean around the chrysalises on top. All in all, I'm very satisfied.
