Peace of mind at a reasonable price

My daily indispensable companion, my computer started giving me warnings that maybe my hard drive is about to fail. I've already got my photos, music, videos and correspondence individually backed up, but the thought of having to re-install everything was daunting. I bought My Passport to image the whole drive. The price was certainly affordable and Amazon's shipping got it here in a couple of days while I was still thinking about it. The bottom line is peace of mind.

Fantastic Customer Support

In my recent review of a Canon printer, I mentioned how easy it was to install. I also alluded to the fact that helpful product support is not always possible to get. I falsely assumed that the Passport would be relatively easy to set up, but remember I'm a senior citizen with very limited technical knowledge. So you might guess by now that I had to call customer support to get the Passport to work properly. The person that helped me was fantastic. He took over my computer and download all the setup files that were needed in order for the device to work properly. He was extremely patient and helpful and had things working properly in about 15 minutes. So, theoretically, it should have been easy to get the Passport installed and working properly. I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do that without the help of the rep. Thanks Western Digital for having such helpful reps.

WORKS GREAT WITH THE PS4!

This works PERFECTLY with the PS4! The hard drive shows up to 918GB on the hard drive (bought a 1TB) Just plug it in a USB slot and it automatically recognizes it! Just keep in mind that the PS4 will tell you to format it. It's super fast and easy. You can move games to the hard drive and save a lot more space on your ps4.

Hurricane Harvey No Match

After being underwater for 8 days during the Hurricane Harvey flooding in Houston I figured all my backup data was destroyed. After purchasing a new Imac I plugged-in the external hard drive and it fired right up. I apparently didn't lose anything and it has been working flawlessly ever since.

Great quality, worked perfectly. Not SSD.

This portable HDD drive worked exactly as we needed it to. Great for backing up a computer or transferring files. I bought a new computer and needed to transfer all my photos and documents from the old to the new, and this served the purpose perfectly. It will also be used to keep another computer backed up. Happy with it stationary storage, but I will be getting an SSD for portable storage because it is more durable and can handle being dropped better than this HDD drive will be able to. An SSD is also three times the cost for the same size, so this old-school drive, though slower, was worth it. And it wasn't slow, per se. I didn't feel like I was waiting around forever for it to finish. Just slower than an SSD would be.

Great for backups

What I like about this external hard drive is that I can partition it. I copied my computers system backup from partition D to a partition on the HD. I also did a system image back up and also individual files such as music, pictures, and documents to the main partition. I'll do backups as the system and files change. I'm running windows 10.

Great HDD

I recently received this WD 1TB My Passport HDD. I also have an older model but was running out of space and needed another one. These HDD's are perfect for portable storage. If you ever have an issue with your computer and need to back up files, I highly recommend these. They are password protected so if plugged into another device it can't be opened. You also have the option to have it recognize the computer you use/set it up on and won't require a password if that's what you choose. Overall, it's perfect for what I need it for.

PS4 External Hard Drive

I bought this hard drive to use with my PS4 because I used up the majority of the 500GB on there, and it has worked great. All I had to do was take it out of the box, connect the two devices with the USB cable that came included, the PS4 detected the hard drive and did some formatting, maybe check a box or two in settings, and it was all done. It has been about a month now, and its worked great. I'll try to remember to update this review in a year to let everyone know how its held up. Update #1 ~5 Months Later: Works great. I've had no problems with it. Update #2 14 Months Later: Still works great, excellent purchase

Extend Your PlayStation 4 Memory as Easy as 1, 2, 3!

I own the original launch PS4 500 GB & got sick of having to delete games from my console in order to play new games! Western Digital is top shelve hard drive manufacturer! Set up is a breeze, simply open box after your Amazon 📦 is delivered, remove the Hard Drive from OEM packaging, plug the USB 3.0 Cable into PS4 front left port, go to settings, memory & it will format Hard Drive and inable it to function as an extended memory! Set up took maybe 1-2 minutes. I no longer have to delete my content to play new games! Highly recommended!

Works with Xbox one for more storage

1 terrabyte storage. Comes with its own special 3.0 usb cable, and it's spefically made for it. Do not damage the cable. Works flawlessly with Xbox one system had no issues.
