I'd been hearing people talk about brining their turkey for about a year and a half, but I'm never responsible for cooking more than one dish for the holidays. This year, I wanted to have a "Friendsgiving" party at my house and invite my "chosen" family, instead of my regular family. The idea was that I'd provide a turkey, ham and cornbread dressing. My friends would bring side dishes. This was only my second time in my life cooking a turkey. So, I had a 14 pound turkey, I soaked it for 14 hours in the brine. The process wasnt' difficult. The bag was definitely large enough. I did have a little trouble getting the liquid over the top of the turkey, but I fixed it by moving it into a smaller pot than my roasting pan. Once I did that, the liquid in the bag covered the entire turkey. Now, I forgot to put in the vinegar. So, you should know that. It totally slipped my mind. But I don't know that it mattered. MY TURKEY WAS A HIT! Two people that told me they rarely eat turkey because they didn't really enjoy it, LOVED this turkey. I didn't add any additional seasoning. I brushed the turkey with melted butter and sprinkled the top with paprika. I cooked it in a turkey bag. Again, full disclosure, I may have over cooked it a little because it wasn't as moist as I would have liked, but it didn't matter! Even slightly dry, the flavor was definitely there. But to be on the safe side, we used the juices from the bird to make the gravy and that flavor carried over into the gravy. Every person kept saying it was the best seasoned turkey they've ever had. I didn't have much meat left, because with 6 people, we all had a good amount. And each person took a plate of food home. I also took plates to my grandmother and aunt. My grandmother is 87 and said it was the best bird she'd ever had. I didn't have much left. People loaded up! Overall, the evening was a success and that turkey was the highlight of the night. I'll ABSOLUTELY purchase this again. I did not receive any discount, I paid full price for this product. The opinions are my own and are unbiased.

This kit is super easy to use. It has a bag big enough for a 25-lb turkey, with a strong seal that REALLY keeps it from leaking. The seal is so strong that I had to ask my husband to help me open it the next day. The flavor packet has about 1/2 cup of herbs and spices that you combine with hot water, sugar, and a little vinegar before putting into the bag with the turkey and then leave in a cold ice chest all night. The instructions didn't say whether to rinse them off the turkey before roasting, so I just drained off the liquid and left the herbs/spices on the bird. It was delicious! I've just ordered another kit for the Christmas turkey.

This is good stuff. This is the second thanksgiving we used it. The turkey was basted overnight as instructed, and came out moisht, aromatic, and deliciously. First, though we had to catch the darn turkey. He took off into the sheep pen. The sheep thinking we were going to feed them came over and head butted us until we had to back down. We then circled around behind the run-in shed, trying to out schmart the sheep and surprise the Turkey. But, he out thought us! The turkey was high up on the sheep's back holding onto a set of ad hoc reigns, gobbling like a crazed alpaca! and pecking the back of the sheep's head until it reared up and charged bowling me over into my wife and her onto her back. The turkey then dismounted, spit on us, and ran off into the woods! He was quite a crafty bird! So we ate lamb chops instead. 8-)

I’ve used this brine a few times now and it’s fantastic. Easy to follow directions, and the bag is very heavy duty. Really adds a ton of flavor to your turkey, and pretty much gaurentees that it’ll stay moist.

According to family members, this is the BEST turkey that I have ever made. I just followed the instructions with the kit and used the kit exactly as described. It was pretty simple to do. I bought a frozen turkey (since it is cheaper by like 1/2 the price). I thawed it per US FDA recommendations, which are also given in the kit. My 20 lb turkey needed to defrost for 4-5 days in the fridge. Then, I took the turkey and brined it per the instructions of the kit. You take the kit seasoning and have it dissolve in hot water then let the water cool. Then put the clean defrosted turkey in the bag with the brine and more water, some apple-cider vinegar. You let that brine for about as many hours as your turkey is. Mine took ~20 hours to brine. Then, you take the turkey out and let it dry so it has liquid come off. Then, you RUB the heck on the surface of the turkey to cover the skin in a thick layer of protective butter. You stick the turkey in the oven at LOW temperature to cook for a long time. You stick an apple in its butt (optional and not listed in instructions but I find it gives it moisture). You put a foil tent on it to guard the breast from browning since the leg (dark meat) and breast meat (white meat) cook at different rates. You let it cook for an hour like so, and then take off the foil tent. Then let it cook for the remainder at the same temp. My turkey based on size took 4 hours to cook this way. You don't need to baste it at all as long as you have a good layer of butter on it (to prevent it from burning). It will TASTE AMAZING. The Cajun seasoning was my favorite. I want to get more and hope they come out with more variations for next year.

Kit included everything we needed, great flavor and everyone at Thanksgiving enjoyed the bird. Plastic bag that came with was large and durable, we did a 13 pound bird and used 3/4 of the mix. We brined overnight and cooked the bird in a convection oven, came out just right. Tip: Cover your bird in foil until the last 20-30 minutes then turn the broiler on low, gives the top that nice crispy skin.

It's that time of the year where turkeys take center table, which always brings me to purchasing this brining kit. I figure I should write a review since I've used this turkey brining kit for every Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving (Thanksgiving with Friends!) since 2010. Every single time the turkey comes out absolutely flavorful and moist. I've always received the highest compliments from family and friends alike and this is my secret weapon. It's also the reason why I've been tasked to make the turkey every time! The kit is straightforward and easy to follow, and all the effort in brining results in a delicious turkey that is sure to please. The past 4 years I've cooked the turkey in the oven with no problems, but this year I will attempt to smoke the turkey in my Kamado Joe Smoker. I absolutely can't wait to give that a try! This kit is perfect and I can't recomend it enough. However, something to consider is to purchase the kit from Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $9.99 if the price here on Amazon happens to be higher. You can also use a 20% coupon at BB&B to bring the price down even further.

This kit is very easy to use, comes with a high-quality brining bag, and provides superb flavor! I followed the brining instructions, then put some carrots, celery, onion and parsley inside the bird before trussing it and rubbing it with butter. I then put some stock in the pan and basted every half hour. The turkey was fantastic - as good as anything I have ever tasted. I would not hesitate to buy this kit again or recommend it to others. Really really delicious.

I’ve brined several turkeys over the years, and have tried many different brines including homemade ones and pricey, top name brands like William Sonoma. This year a friend recommended this one and it was fantastic!! Most tender turkey of my Thanksgiving dinner career, hands down! I will be ordering this brine again! NOTE: I omitted the vinegar.

My family of self-styled taste testers (some of whom can be picky if they deem the result isn't quite "up to snuff") raved about the turkey I made with this brine. Though I have been brining my turkeys for years with excellent results, I am assured by my family that the one I made with this brining mix is the very best one yet. Not only was it tender and moist, but the meat was subtly infused with flavor and the skin roasted to a beautiful, over-all golden brown. It was, therefore, also the prettiest turkey I ever presented to the Thanksgiving table. With minimum effort, I looked like a master chef. Believe me, I'm sold on this product.
