Very happy with this little Compressor. I'm a finish carpenter and was tired of lugging around a heavier and louder pancake Compressor I had, this solved both my problems and I couldn't be happier

I've been airbrushing for 8 years. I hook up at least 3 and as many as 6 airbrushes at one time to a manifold that I constructed. This machine handles the load. Less noise than my twin tank Hitachi and a heck of a lot easier on my back when lifting and packing it up too.

May, I love this thing. I’m 65 this year, so decided to downsize since I no longer need a $400 air compressor taking up real estate on the floor in my garage. And the smaller compressor I had on my storage shelf was obnoxiously loud and about 10 pounds heavier than this one. So I ordered this smaller compressor and gifted the other two to my kids, who were always relying on me to air up their tires. Now they can handle that chore on their own. Before I gave those two away, though, I waited until this compressor arrived to test it out: As promised, it’s very quiet. Two people can carry on a normal conversation standing right in front of it. You won’t need hearing protection. Nice. Sitting in the garage, the 15 gallon DeWalt I gave my son would wake me up in the middle of the night from the other end of the house if I forgot to unplug it. I was afraid it would wake the neighbors and violate some city noise regulation it was so loud. The CA compressor is lighter than my 2 gallon portable compressor, as I would expect.. I no longer have to dread picking it up to carry it to the job location around the house. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the female air socket on the compressor was operable with one hand. Kudos to California Air Tools for adding that. The fit and finish are more than satisfactory. I could find nothing to complain about. I comes with the plastic air filter detached. So I installed that, plugged it in and the compressor quickly and quietly charged right up. I tested my small air nailers, up to the 18 gage unit. You shoot two or three nails and it kicks on for a few seconds, but you should expect that with a 1 gallon compressor. For a homeowner doing small jobs around the house, I would think this would work out just fine. It even runs my small palm nailer, which I use a lot for nailing jobs where it’s difficult to swing a hammer. It this continues to operate as it did today, I have no problem rating it 5 stars. Best compressor I’ve ever owned for its size.

I needed an air compressor to mount on a shelf in my garage just to fill tires and balls and blow up rafts and toys. So I was looking at 2-3 gallon pancake compressors. I read reviews and most do the job and some extras. But the one word I kept seeing was "LOUD" until I came across this one. My only issue was it only having a 1 gallon tank but the size and weight made it perfect to mount on a shelf and connect it to my hose real that is already mounted in my garage. They do have a 2 gallon tank available but it went above my budget for this brand so I opted to give the 1 gallon a try. Now to cold hard facts. I plugged it in. Turned it on. Wait..is it on? Wow! This thing is QUIET. It quickly filled to around 120 psi around 15-20 seconds. I watched the gauges for a while and they stayed at around 120. So I hooked up a blow gun and being a 1 gallon tank it dropped pretty quick to 90 psi and kicked back on with its little whisper of a hummm. I then filled up my tires and basket ball and with a few pauses (1 gal tank ) while it filled..blew the dust out of my car. I can honestly say I am happy with this very QUIET air compressor. I'm sure the neighbors are too.

This little compressor is great and really quite. I got this to replace a harbor freight and a husky compressor that are so loud I couldn’t use them in the garage. I have used this with my 16g nail gun, air truck tires, and roofed a shed with a coil gun. I have had no problems with metal beads in the tank or over heating. The paint finish and packaging is also really nice. I have been really impressed with this compressor and would recommend it to anyone who wants a small light weight and very clean quiet compressor to use around the house or garage.

I finally received my compressor and right away, I wanted to test it out with some of my small nailers and stapler and just for grins, tried it on my Porter Cable framing nailer. The small nailers including finish nailer work fine with better than expected recovery time. Only when I pushed it did I have to wait for it to catch up with the finish nailer. Different story with the framing nailer. 16ga nails? It works, but it is not designed for that purpose and I expected a longer recovery time (several seconds) Fine with me, it's a home compressor designed for the regular guy who only uses it occassionally OK, now I am not one to trust all of the hype from manufacturers who try to sell you their product so I did my own test with regard to noise level and the time it takes for the unit to fill to Max from empty. It took 51 seconds to fill the tank. That's pretty good in my opinion. For the noise test, I set it next to my old no name pancake compressor and ran the old one until it was at max 1 min 34 seconds and that damn thing could "Wake the Dead". I turned on the CAT1060 and although it is a bit louder than an Iwata airbrush compressor, it is a huge difference from the racket from my pancake. I could carry on a normal conversation with my wife while we were standing right next to it. Good deal since I intend to use it in a room next to our bedroom and I'm an early riser. I actually bought this to use with my airbrush, knowing I could use it for other projects as well. I called C.A.T. and asked if I could use this with my surge protector and they said NO! But get this, the warning on the label might say no extension cord but they told me you can providing it is 14 ga and no longer than 25 feet. He pointed out that the info is in the pamphlet on page 10. How'd I miss that? Anyhow, I think it's a great home compressor that won't wake up your Ancestors and will fill most of our needs. If you need bigger, then buy bigger. Hope this helps those who are on the fence about getting one. Update. Two things I found that you may want to consider. #1 The air pressure does not adjust easily so if you need an exact pressure, it may be a challenge. #2 The on/off switch is not user friendly and not a positive click when turning off. It is in an awkward location and may be a difficult if you have large hands and fingers. I'll put an extension on mine and for air pressure for an airbrush, I'll simply install a MAC valve to cure any adjustment woes.

I LOVE THIS AIR COMPRESSOR !! I’m not sure when these super quiet compressors came out on the market but I am so glad they did I hated using my old compressor I always thought I was going to have a seizure from the God awful noise it would make. This thing makes less noise than a gas golf cart and you can easily have a conversation while it is running right next to your feet. I bought the one gallon size and works great to fill car, Bicycle tires basketballs pool floats I have even used it with my finish nailer. They make these in larger sizes for running framing nailers, paint guns and impacts. If you haven’t chucked your old compressor out and purchased one of these yet you need to you won’t be sorry. I’m looking into getting a larger one to run my construction tools here in the near future maybe my kids will see this review before fathers day ha ha

Best compressor ever. Ridiculously quiet. Plenty of air for finish work, cabinets, crown. Probably not going to roof a house with it though. Review by Cabinetmaker with 30 years experience.

This is THE compressor to have! If you’re a contractor, or a DIYer, doesn’t matter with this. It’s a great price point for either, and it works very reliably for the contractor market. Obviously know your limitations to capacity, it is still a small tank compressor. I’m a contractor and use it about 3 days a week for near a year now and it still purrs. It’s VERY quiet. Comparable to other higher priced and even smaller compressors. This is the quietist of the quiet compressors. I carry this into occupied spaces, homes, offices, etc. and it never bothers anybody, even sleeping babies down the hall. It fills quick! Well for it’s size. Most this size are very slow charging yet this one can actually keep up with a framing nailer being used at a slow-medium pace. If you’re a speedy pro-framer you’re not using something like this anyway but for just about everyone else, it handles it. California air is my new fav compressor company and design.

This is the first compressor I have owned except for the cheap tire compressors that plug in to your cigarette lighter, this is super quiet, I have very thin floors and my work area is right under our bedroom and my wife can't hear it through the floor, so far I have shot around 350 18g, 2 inch brad nails with it and it seems to keep up just fine, the tank seems to hold air OK, I fill it and turn it off and it will lose a little air over 4 or 5 hours but that could be due to my air hose and fittings, all in all I would recommend this
