Affordable Astrophotography
The NexImage 5MP is your ticket to the heavenly theater if you want to share with others the magnificent Solar System. Now, it seems, for the first time, novice and pro backyard astronomers can afford this package. The NexImage 5MP is 5 mega pixels strong, and comes with a disc to set up your laptop or computer with iCap imaging software and RegiStax 6 stacking software. Hook the NexImage 5MP directly to your eyepiece adapter on your telescope, attach the USB to your device, and automatically or manually start capturing celestial images. Stack them later with RegiStax 6 by choosing the best out of thousands of frames from the many featured FPS capturing capabilities of iCap 2.3. The software chooses for you, then have fun contouring the images to your liking. This was my first introduction to astrophotography after 36 years of astronomy and observing with multiple telescopes. The NexImage 5MP works with all of my refractors and reflectors. I belong to the AAVSO (American Association of Variable Star Observers) and have submitted several observations for data collection. This is a great deal and finally a chance for high quality images of the Solar System to be captured and recorded for a low price. (Pictures submitted are of the Moon and Saturn)

Bad Horizontal Noise Lines
I was very disappointed in this camera. As can see from the attached image, horizontal noise lines ruin the image. I am not sure if I have a defective camera or if this is an overall problem with this model. I was very busy with the eclipse of the sun and I missed the return window so now I will have to see if there is any kind of warranty. As you might have guessed, I was unable to use this camera for the eclipse. Update: With the help of an Amazon customer, I discovered the problem was caused by the old computer I was using.

Windows 8.1 ready!
I just had to post this ASAP. I have not used it for imaging but I just wanted to make it clear that this works with Windows 8.1 out of the box. I have a Windows 8.1 laptop and was a little nervous about compatibility, especially after reading some reviews. Well don't sweat it. I loaded the DVD and then installed Registax and iCap. I then connected the camera up with the included USB cable and pressed the 'install driver' button, it proceeded to load the drivers. I had to grant permission to load them after I got a Widows security prompt and bam, the cam worked in icap. I'll update this review after I get to use it, but I don't anticipate it will give any trouble and will yield excellent results.

Great intro to astrophotography, minus the headache
I’ll begin this review by stating that it would be unfair to compare thousand dollar CCD cameras, apples to apples, with this product. Instead, I will review it for what it is and that is an affordable and easy to use introductory camera for planetary imaging, aka, astrophotography. With that said, this camera is anything but a lemon. I’ve recently felt the need to properly review this product after hearing people disparage the use of such “cheap” cameras to beginners at star parties. Astrophotography is by far the most daunting hobby I’ve ever started. I stumbled to where I am now thanks to the help and experience of others. There are plenty of online resources you can scour before making your first imaging camera purchase. However, most people stop at the purchasing recommendations and don’t find out about the challenges involved with complicated cameras until after they’ve already purchased the camera and hit a road block. This is where this camera shines. This is by far the simplest and most enjoyable camera I’ve used for planetary imaging. While you won’t get as clear and high definition of an image as you could with the Skyris monochrome series, this is more than enough sensor for any beginner. At this price point, you are getting a great piece of camera that won’t hurt your wallet should you reach the conclusion that astrophotography is not for you. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to figure that out. No matter what that one guy at the star party said. Either way, I hope this review helps anyone considering this as their first astrophotography camera. This is a difficult and humbling hobby to pick up but by far the most fulfilling. Clear Skies, Victor I.

Great camera, for beginner to intermediate astronomers
Very easy to use eyepiece camera. Just stick it where your eye piece goes and boom the image streams on your computer. Comes with really cool software that helps you stack the images together and make the images come more alive. Extremely happy with my purchase. Able to see details on Mars that I could never see which is my regular rise. I am using an Orion XT 8 inch dobsonianGreat camera, for beginner to intermediate astronomers. The pics taken here or with about four days of experience using the camera.

I'd recommend this
I was worried about buying this as I have a Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10. While it took a little work and a couple extra downloads from Celestron, the NexImage and its software runs great. Celestron customer services was very helpful when I had trouble getting everything set up on my computer. Don't expect professional quality photos of constellations or individual stars--this is for planetary and moon imaging. I haven't tried taking pictures of any planets yet, but the photos of the moon I took turned out great. I think this is a good place to start for anyone who wants to get into astrophotography.

A very good camera, gives excellent performance
A very good camera, gives excellent performance, the only con I found is that it magnifies a bit too much on some targets, for example when taking video of solar events, I cannot reduce the image enough to get the entire sun in the picture as the camera, even on a lower powered scope magnifies the image to where only about 1/4 of the sun is viewable at one time.

Good solar camera
Was only able to use a couple times before northern California air went to pot with fires. But was able to catch Jupiter and Saturn in opposition before the smoke came in. So far I'm happy. Cant wait for winter skies to try some other items in our solar system (this is not a deep sky ccd)

Very useful.....
I used this camera to take magnificent pictures of the 2017 eclipse through my solar telescope and now I have adapted it for use with a 90X microscope. Works well and the software that’s included is easy to use. I use it to take pictures of defective components and also to help with reassembly of complicated devices by taking pictures during disassembly.

Easy to use - Great quality for the price
Got it home, installed the software in about 3 minutes... Plugged this into my SolarMax II 60 (Hydrogen Alpha Telescope) and started snapping photos and videos of the sun within minutes. Super easy to use. Haven't had a chance yet to try it in my Celestron 8SE yet so I will update this review in the future when I get some clear dark skies without minus freaking 30 temperatures :) I put a video on Vimeo so you can see what I saw within the first 5 minutes of opening the box. Please note that better quality will come with practice and spending more time properly focusing – All I did was just drop the camera into my diagonal, and started recording. Also, note that this was on my balcony in -15 weather (Calgary Alberta) with a heat register blowing in front of my view... Still pretty good for a first use despite the seeing conditions!
