Insinkerator Compact Evolution

We have an Insinkerator Compact Evolution disposal. This easily slipped into position and water and food waste flow through it freely. The original baffle worked well, but (after many years) needed regular cleaning to avoid smelling. Perhaps the anti-bacterial protection wears off over time. The baffle seems a little flimsier (thinner) than the original, but perhaps that's just a design change. It's inexpensive enough that periodic replacement is not a problem, particularly if the anti-bacterial protection wears out over time, and this model has been so quiet that baffling isn't really important.

Insinkerator did this right!

I have a very old Insinkerator - bought it in the early 90s. The model is no longer manufactured. The machine wore out the old baffle some time back. Replacing it would have required removing the machine and disassembling the connector to install the baffle made for the disposal. Saw this baffle and thought it was worth a try even though it's for a different model since it doesn't require any installation other than setting it in place. This baffle slipped right in. Noise is lower and there's no more muck splash if I forget to cap the hole before turning on the disposal. I'm impressed with how durable the original hardware is and being able to just swap in a new baffle gives the disposer a new lease. Definitely a 5-star fix.

Great replacement for original baffle!

The first thing to point out is that for some odd reason, Amazon shows the baffle UPSIDE DOWN in the photo - it is inserted into the sink opening pointed side facing down! I read some reviews before buying and other reviewers seemed to have difficulty with fit and operation - perhaps because they had (inadvertently) installed the baffle incorrectly, influenced by the (confusing) photo. This version is a huge improvement on both the original and previous versions and is working really well - much better clearance of debris into the disposal unit with just water, no need for "shoving" assistance.

Wow, wow, wow, is this the best baffle ever for these things! 1st one I have EVER liked.

This new style is still a quiet baffle but the largest improvement is that water actually flows through it and even small scraps of food get carried through as well without any pushing needed. Even if your original baffle isn't worn out yet, buy this just to relieve all the frustration that that one causes. In comparison the new one is like getting a nice massage while your sink cleans itself out. My threats of trying to win the lottery just so I could have the money and time to develop a decent baffle for these things has officially been put on hold.

Much better than the baffle included with my Insinkerator

Much better than the baffle included with my Insinkerator! The baffle is installed in seconds, no assembly required. Pop the old one out, and the new one in. The old baffle did not allow the water to drain properly, which meant I had to manually fold it inwards with my hand or some other implement. I stupidly suffered with this problem for more than a year. This new baffle works as it should, allowing water to drain properly. No more fiddling with the baffle required. I should have bought this sooner!!

This item met and exceeded my expectations. I rarely review items because, honestly, most do not work out. The baffle on my on my 16 year old ISE disposal had to be replaced due to having to cut it to get something out of the disposer that had fallen in. This item was installed within seconds (it even tells you which side goes down) and has worked to not only keep food in the disposal when turned on but it has also quieted the system significantly. My husband even thought the disposal wasn't working correctly because he could hardly hear it. I am completely satisfied with this item and very, very thankful that I did not have to take the disposal apart to install it.

Excellent replacement, better than the original

My Insinkerator rubber splash guard was getting pretty ratty, so I looked for a replacement. First of all, the existing rubber guard doesn't see possible to remove. So I just trimmed it off with a sharp knife. The new splash guard simply sits on top of where the old guard was. The guard is shaped such that it has a solid fit, but is very easily removed for disposal cleaning.

EUREKA!

At last InSinkErator provides a replacement sound baffle for its Evolution-series disposals that allows liquid and solid matter to flow through easily. Almost too easily. What does the trick is the use of soft rubber that is strong enough to retain a pile of garbage and liquid in the sink, yet pliable to release its load once only slight pressure is applied from above. Turning on the disposal while running the water has the same effect by creating suction from below. A little extra care is needed to prevent flatware or other no-no’s from going down with it. Ironically, this quiet collar does not seem to reduce noise as much as two ordinary, after-market splash guards purchased at home improvement stores. Both had such rigid rubber that they would drop into the disposal whenever too much pressure was exerted. One had a steel retaining ring around it that would fall in, too. Happily, this InSinkErator “Newest Version” QCB-AM remains firmly in place even without such a ring. Despite its slightly elevated noise level, it merits all five stars.

Excellent Baffle

This is an excellent product. It's much better than the original. I don't understand why some reviewers are saying that this baffle will not allow water and food to easily pass through. I've found that it does an excellent job.

Better Than The Original!

The replacement disposal baffle was perfectly easy to install--just lift out the old one and insert the new one. It sits in the drain, resting on the InSinkErator connection just like the old one did. However, I like this one much better than the original. It's more flexible and lets more water through into the drain; it also seems to be equally or slightly more effective than the original, at reducing noise from the disposal when it is running. Highly recommended!
