This really works! I'm using it on the inside of the playroom my dogs stay in when I have to leave. They have clawed up the door and door frame with deep ruts. Now that I know it works I can fill in the gouge marks and repaint so it will look new again. I was hoping it would work on my back door too which is damaged on the outside but it doesn'tfit right since the door is recessed from the frame.

Unbelievable product! We have a 7 month Jack Russel that we adopted. In the past 2 months he has destroyed 2 doors and ripped up a screened in porch. We have tried countless products including sprays and others barriers that took up space and were obtrusive. All he made short work of! The Clawguard works great! He hates that thing! The texture really irritates him like nails on a chalkboard. Also a great feature is that you just hang it on a door knob. Highly recommend!

We adopted a 7 yr old 85# hound mix. He joined our family already convinced the only way to get a door to open is to keep scratching it. It was hard to train him out of it - he’s too sensitive for gentle correction and too soft spoken to teach to bark, so we went with it. THIS PRODUCT IS STURDY, COVERS THE RIGHT AREA, STILL LOOKS NEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, REQUIRES NOTHING BE ATTACHED TO THE WOODWORK, AND AMPLIFIES THE SOUND OF HIS SCRATCHING (the plastic is textured) in case he needs out. Love it. I suppose this amplification would also alert you to quickly correct the behavior if you wanted to train your dog out of scratching. (Just an aside- for energetic, destructive pups I strongly recommend crate training and a good dog- walking service! We chose this route for our smart, rambunctious Labrador puppy to save more than just our doors and trim. After 18 months he has matured, learned good habits, and we took the crate door off. We also trained him to politely bark or ring a doorbell installed at his level to get through a door- he never thinks to scratch.)

Highly highly recommend this product to protect door. My golden retriever puppy is about 90 pounds. Ever since he was a tiny puppy, he learned to potty train by scratching at the door to let us know. Fast forward 14 months and the little puppy scratches have turned into HUGE gouges with his nails down all my oak wooden doors. Pretty much every stained oak door in my downstairs (and all my doors are oak) have HUGE scratch marks visible in the light from his scratching to get in and out of a room. For awhile, before knowing this product existed, I cut and taped huge areas of the doors that he scratched the most with cardboard. My house looked like a homeless shelter. Then I read about this product and ordered 3. Two for entrance doors and one for garage doors. They easily hang on doorknob and can be easily cut with a scissor to the exact width needed for the door. The rough side makes a noise when they scratch or you can flip it to have the smooth side face out. In any event, it is long and wide enough to protect the bottom to 1/2 way up the door (the parts that are most easily scratched). There has been no further damage to the doors since I hung these. They can be easily removed when company comes. I WISH I knew of this about 12 months ago because I could have prevented a TON of scratch marks down my doors and probably wouldn't have to invest a huge sum of money one day to have them all sanded and refinished. HIGHLY recommend for dogs that scratch and ruin doors/moldings.

My dog goes absolutely bananas whenever someone rings the doorbell. She doesn't jump on people, but would jump on the wall barking. She had destroyed the wall by the front door and some trim. After repeatedly patching and painting, I found this item. We did not use it on the door handle, but rather used a command strip with velcro to attach it to the wall near the door where she would jump up. It has acted as a deterrent-- she no longer tries to jump up because she doesn't like the sound or feel of this on her paws. The velcro command strip allows us to take it off and put it on easily. If you have a good dog who loses his/her mind and destroys your walls when someone rings the doorbell, this is definitely for you.

Our 9 year old Chow mix (around 55lb) started to scratch up our apartment front door, once to the point that she got the cheap deadbolt open and escaped while we were at work. Otherwise she was also chipping the paint off on the door and frame any time she was left alone. I didn’t expect much from the Clawguard after reading mixed reviews but this has been AMAZING. No more scratching, she just leaves it alone since she seems to hate the sound the plastic makes when she claws. If you’re on the fence, try it - it was worth every penny and feels pretty thick and durable for our sized dog.

YES! I have a furball that has separation issues and at times has dug a hole through my wall and door. This clever piece has stopped him in his tracks. The product comes with a couple of hook and latch pieces to help it from moving, but I added more to each corner and middle for extra peace of mind. My 80 pound dog as not made his way past this to-date! I've had it now for about 5 months. I would recommend this product.

This product is amazing! We love it and it works wonderfully. Our dog doesn't like to stay in the laundry room when company is visiting. She normally claws at the door and reaches under the door with her paw. The clawguard prevents her from doing either! No pain, inexpensive discipline. Now when the clawguard is up, she doesn't even try to claw or pull at the door. LOVE this product!!!

Our dog thinks our room is her room, and that led to a scratched up door with missing paint when we didn't want her in there. Well not anymore! We keep our bedroom door shut until its time for bed and if she starts acting up we put this on the outside of the door. It protects our door and as a bonus she hates the sounds it makes and how it feels so she will scratch a couple time and walk away. We waited a long time to make this purchase, and I can't believe I did. If you are debating get it! My husband travels and I like to keep both our dogs closed in the bedroom with me at night and I put it up on the inside of the door and everyone sleeps and doesnt scratch up the door trying to leave.

I bought this in an effort to stop my shepherd mix from unlocking the deadbolt on my front door since no other solution fit my door. I was concerned that it would fall prey to his chewing, but surprisingly he doesn’t like to chew it at all and it does prevent him from clawing the door or unlocking it. The velcro didn’t stay stuck to the door (it just took the paint off when it came off), but I didn’t find that to be an issue. This product saved my sanity and I will buy more in the future.
