Perfect for melting wax for the small batch candles I make. Easier to clean than the 4lb pitcher because it is shallower and almost just as wide. I would recommend for the starting/experienced candle maker.

I have only used it once, but making candles was soooo fun. The pot did great. I put a heat resistant sleeve on the handle because I wasn't sure if it would melt against the pot with the boiling water. Unless you are holding it the entire time the handle will touch the bottom pan. Maybe it would have been fine but I didn't want to worry about it. The sleeve came with my cast iron skillet. Handy little item - if you're going to melt wax this works great!

I wanted to start making my own beeswax candles, and read that in order to melt the wax I would need a double broiler. After debating between a 4 lb melting pot and this 2 lb one, I ultimately chose this one because I didn’t think I needed a melting pot as large as the 4 lb one. I have to say, after using this melting pot a couple of times now I really like it. It fits perfectly in my cheap ikea pot (I paid $10 for 3 pots) and melts wax really well. The melting pot is pretty easy to clean, however it gets harder to clean each time I use it, since wax likes to build up inside. Overall I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to try candle making.

I purchased this to work with encaustics (hot wax/ resin mix). I use it to make a batch of my encaustic medium that I then pour into little muffin tins allowing them to cool then store. Then I take out a couple wax "muffins" throw them into this pitcher, set on my electric hot griddle and allow the mixture to heat up and liquefy for me to then dip my paintbrush in and use. I explained the process since it's a very specific use and as such my review might not be useful to some people (delicious chocolate dipping folks, i'm looking at you... but feel free to share some of your delicious creations anyway... please?) I like the ease of pouring my medium. My white beeswax medium is in a former rice cooking pot, it clearly isn't great at pouring, this is so nice I want to replace that rice pot one with another one of these. The handle does get warm... remember how im using it tho... it might be me. I have the handle hanging over the edge of the griddle so it doesn't get updraft however, it still gets pretty warm. Cleaning, bit different, again due to wax, however it's also hard to gaet my hand inside to swish around my soy wax I use to clean the pot with. The metal isn't slick so it gives my medium something to hold onto. Overall It works, I love it. I could see this being quite practical for many art uses. The handle seems sturdy, i've only been using it for about a week tho. I will update this should I notice any issues!

I make my own wax tarts, and it's been a pain to pour melted wax from the double boiler into the molds. The pitcher is VERY lightweight, so I put a small trivet between it and the pan of boiling water. But it pours wonderfully! Wish I'd purchased this a long time ago!

Exactly what I needed for making small candles for my home. I've melted both beeswax and soy in it so far. Fits in two of my large pots. You can melt enough for about 3 medium candles at a time. My only gripe is that the handle isn't shaped to rest properly on the edge of the pot so it bounces around and I have to hold it in place using an oven mitt. Just be aware that you have to pay attention since you don't want any wax spilling out and ruining your pot!

Good quality, I used it for melting wax and it works perfectly. Nice pouring from the spout and the handle is secure and does not get hot.

This was my first time recycling old candles. This Pitcher worked great!!! Easily poured the melted wax into the containers. No drips. Handle was comfortable and I think it was the perfect size. Easy cleanup too.

I am new to candle making and bought this pot as a transfer pot after melting my wax in a larger pot. It is ideal for me because I only plan to make small quantities of candles for home use or gifts. I am glad to know that I needed to have another pot. I would never know this if I had not read a great candle making book I purchased on Amazon by Jameel Nolan. It is probably the only book on candle making that gives you great reference on making candles!

Perfect size for small batches of soaps and candles. I have the larger ones but wanted smaller. I do think this is a little pricey since the pitchers that are twice the size are only a couple dollars more than this small one.
