High Quality Holds

These are very solid holds, thick plastic, 5 different colors, each color is a different shape. could be used in a professional rock climb but I just did a small wall for my grandkids play fort. I thought I would have to buy the hardware to mount them but it all came with it unlike other holds I looked at. They were easy to install and look great on the finished project. Super value for the price. Great Customer Service. When they came, shipping had lost one of the holds. I contacted Hidden Valley Merchandise and they got me a replacement right away.

Bright, colorful, solid, easy climbing holds

They're great. I've had them up about 3 months now, no issues. The plastic is very solid. Kids are able to climb them with ease. There's plenty to grab/step onto, not a challenging hold. I agree with the other reviewer who said the 2nd washer is unnecessary, even detrimental. The instructions say to place a washer between the climbing hold and the wall. But if you do this, the hold obviously will not sit flush against the wall, there's a little gap. This adds unnecessary stress on the hold, the bolt, and the wall, making for a less-solid attachment. Can the manufacturer explain why they included this 2nd washer? Is the washer supposed to sink into the wood? Anyhow, scrap the 2nd washer and it is solid! And you get 25 extra washers with your purchase. :)

Perfect for my Toddlers

We used these to make my boys a rock wall in their bedroom. They absolutely love it. The climbing holds are sturdy, and good for my boys and their cousins. Ages 1.5-9 years old are able to grab and climb with no issues. i love that they come in a variety of colors. They shipped super fast. We received 2 days before expected delivery date. The package was a little beat up but all the pieces were there.

Easy, sturdy, inexpensive

We ended up buying 4 packs of these! Easy to set up, i followed the suggestions online to use a 1'x1' grid, and rotated the 2nd hole at random around the grid layout. Holds work in any direction and provide unique grips. Fun for me at 6'2" and 240 and fun for my 4 & 5 year olds to embarrass me haha. I used a 1/2" auger bit and 3/4" plywood. This whole assembly is screwed to 2x4s securely mounted on the wall. This accomplished 2 things: 1) it's easier to mount and anchor 2x4s than a huge sheet of ply with 32 holds on it, then just zip the sheet into the 2x4s. 2) provides set back distance so the bolts don't mash into the wall.

Great quality, looks great.

These are the best quality "climbing holds" I have purchased. The mounting hardware (allen bolts) are teh most robust and easiest to tighten I have seen.. The "multiple colors" is a nice look especially for the "grandbabies". The instructions recommend drilling a 1/2" hole, this would provide plenty of "slop" for hole in a close enough location. I instead used a drill bit 1/64" larger than the bolt and used the "climbing holds" as a template for drilling the holes exactly where they would be mounted.

Great for a home rock climbing wall

These are a great addition to a play set for kids, or beginners at rock climbing. They're brightly colored, sturdy, and a relatively larger size suitable to easier climbing. The pieces all have the same space between screws, which makes it easy to set up and install them with a template for where to drill the holes. The bolts and all hardware are included, as well as all 25 listed pieces. I took a picture of a representative sample just to show all angles of them. Some of the pieces were loose in the box upon arrival, not still in the bag. They're sturdy, so this wasn't a problem but worth noting. All of the hardware remained contained in its own bag.

Easy to install for hours of fun

I read up on a few DIY posts about indoor home climbing walls for kids and these holds were perfect. We have concrete walls so we had to get new washers and nails to drill the holds to the plywood but our 6 and 3 year olds scrampered straight up! The initial set of 25 will do us for a while. I will start thinking about doing a horizontal panel installment soon!

Quick, Easy Installation.

You can drill the holes with a 7/16'' drill bit, and the t-nuts hammer in really easily, just make sure to mark the drill spot by sticking a marker down both of the holes. The Allen wrench tightens down the holds perfectly and the bolts are really big and thick. I installed the climbing wall using 3/4" plywood, and the holds felt extremely sturdy with my weight of 200+ pounds, even though I built it for children. The holds are reasonably sized, and simple to grip with hands and feet. Overall I was impressed with this product. Comparatively to other similar products, I like Climbing Monkey Holds because it comes with its own hardware. All you need is a 7/16'' to 1/2" drill bit which you can get at Lowes for like $2.00, and a hammer to put in t-nuts. Also Climbing Monkey Holds have surprisingly long and thick bolts, making you feel much more safe. The holds are colorful and fun so it is great for kids.

and it seemed the perfect extension to the playset

I’m a huge enthusiast of rock climbing, and thought I would get my little brothers into it as well. We already have a jungle gym in the backyard, and it seemed the perfect extension to the playset. I saw these rock wall holds and loved the number of rock holds you get for that price. It’s great! You also get these super beefy bolts and the rest of the mounting hardware. Seriously they are BIG! I don’t see these ever causing a problem and really puts me at ease in terms of safety. Once one of these climbing hold is attached, it will stick. The holds themselves are designed well to have their hands comfortably grab and hold. They have excellent grip. Overall I’m very happy with Climbing Monkey rock holds I would highly recommend them. It’s great exercise for kids, and they really enjoy it. Start them climbing young! It’s fantastic.

Grandkids love 'em!

Oversized holds for the grandkids. These make a nice kid layout on an inclined 4x8 sheet of plywood. I used 3/4" 4x8 ACX ply with an exterior solid color stain. I ran a 2x6 on-edge along each side of the ply ~8" in from each edge. The bottom of the 2x6's are supported by pre-cast cement blocks with framing anchors. The top of the 2x6's and the ply extend over a deck on the existing playground by about a foot. Grandkids love it!
