Fantastic little amplifier. Checked pretty much all of the boxes I needed, which was harder to find than I thought it would be. It's small, has a built in DAC, has a TOSLINK Optical in, sub out, and a headphone jack on the front. Build quality is nice, display is nice. Super easy to set up. Works with 192 kHz audio which is ridiculous. Looks nice sitting on the desk. Currently have it paired with a pair of Cambridge Audioworks Newton M50s and it sounds excellent. EDIT: Something I was confused about initially and something that came up in the comments is how this has a sub out. I've attached a screenshot of the manual that shows how a sub out is achieved using the COAX port on the back of the amplifier.

This is my first experience with a digital amplifier and I'm quite pleasantly surprised. I was skeptical that this could drive enough power to my tower speakers, but they do a great job. Sound quality including bass is not distorted. It obviously isn't going to be as good as an amp or receiver rated for 100-150 watts rms, but I can get high quality sound out of this thing with plenty enough volume for our purposes.

Impressive little amp. Has plenty of power for my Micca MB42X bookshelf speakers. The Bluetooth function works quite well and sound quality is very good. The function knob takes a little getting used to and has a slightly cheap feel in its movement, but not too bad. Overall though, this unit seems well made, especially for the price.

Arrived Dead on Arrival, returned it immediately. I really want to get it still, so I'll order again and see if I have better luck next time. I will update this review after I get a replacement. **Update** The customer service with SMSL was very understanding and sent a replacement immediately. My thanks go to them and Amazon! The Amp/Dac itself is powerful as I'll ever want and more, has a good headphone jack in front, and runs the speakers I have with ease. The Bluetooth connectivity is good, yet not as powerful or clear as when using USB. The knob in front is digital (spins forever in either direction), and it has a really nice and satisfying click when turning the knob. It can switch modes with the knob itself (turning and pushing it), or with the remote supplied with the Amp/Dac. I use it right next to my PC, but I can see using this for so much more. The only piece of this product I do not use is the included micro USB cable, instead I use a spare black cable I have to match the black device. Regardless of my first letdown with the AD18, I'm happy to say I am completely happy with it. The AD18 fits all my needs and more, and I really love it. For more information on this Amp/Dac and a demo of what it can do, I suggest googling Z Review SMSL AD18. You'll find a video showing all the features and a sound demo of the product.

Ive now been using this product on my gaming PC setup for at least 3 month now. I can happily say that if you have a micro setup for gaming across platforms and need a quality input/output device for audio, you won't find much better than this little device. I have gaming console, tv, streaming device, gaming PC and streaming PC all connected to this sweet, yet powerful device. The audio output sounds top quality and the dial (although a little fickle) feels great to turn notch click, by notch click. The tiny info screen is very VERY easy to read in morning sunlight or midnight dark gaming rooms. All the option menus are easy to reach and performed quickly, even mid game, to adjust settings to the users desired output. NO DRIVER INSTALL! I can't stress enough with how amazing that is for quick plug and play. Works with Windows PC, gaming consoles, Apple Mac laptops and even basic streaming devices.

Very pleased with the sound quality. Works well via Bluetooth from my phone and via aux from the television. Have not used the optical connection. I chose this for dual purpose... One to power my nice studio headphones and I'm very pleased with the quality. So much better than the sound from attaching a little Bluetooth dongle to the wired headphones. Second, to power an old pair of Bose bookshelf speakers for watching television. It performs quite well there. Nice control of bass with a few basic pre-programmed equalizer settings. The case is sturdy and compact. The remote is pretty primitive but gets the job done.

I purchased this to use with a pair of Polk Audio Atrium 6 outdoor speakers. Quite honestly I had no expectations that this would provide very good sound quality at this price point but figured I would give it a try.. All I can say is WOW! Teaming this amp with the Polk Speakers and Pandora Premium just blew me away. The speakers are mounted on my deck and this little power amp pushes the sound 175' to the back of my yard. At 15' the sound stage is nicely balanced and the sound is awesome. Some people have complained that the Bluetooth range isn't very good but I walked 70' from the amp before I started loosing signal. . If your looking for a Bluetooth amp with a very small form factor and great sound then this is the one for you.

The SMSL AD18 is very nice. I use the amplifier with my HDMI FireTV streaming device. The music and tv streams to the tv and my tv sends the output sound through Toslink digital output cable as input to the SMSL AD18. My speakers are 2 Klipsch speakers and a Polk active subwoofer. The DSP (digital signal Processor) that is used enhances your music or tv streaming. The Bluetooth feature is very nice, this allows me to listen to music that is recorded on my MicroSD card. I really like the idea of having a remote control, I stream Youtube videos, and many videos have different sound levels, and the remote control is a must. Overall, I am very glad that I bought this and I would highly recommend it. SMSL AD18 80W2 Bluetooth 4.2 HIFI USB DSP Digital Decoding Power Amplifier

The SMSL AD18, despite their naming scheme being a little funky, is an absolutely wonderful product. 1. It's setup is dirt simple, plug into wall, plug into computer, preferably via a digital output such as micro usb or the optical, both are plug and play, no drivers needed. 2. It is more than able to drive most headphones with reasonable ohm impedance, to my knowledge it will push sets with 50 ohms, but that will vary on how hungry the cans are, my HE-400I's get -plenty- loud at max volume on headphone mods at 36, normally I run more like a 12 to 18. 3. It has a fair amount of customization, various built in EQ's and bass and treble settings allow you to tweak your sound signature on the amp, there is also the "SDB" mode of which to what most can tell it's an adaptive EQ, works well, though it's hard to to AB testing on it. (Also the display can be changed to various colors, for the RGB crowd out there, mine is purple) 4. Options, it's both a headphone amp/dac as well as having outputs for speakers on the back, and the speakers will actually push even more power than the headphone out, so if you're driving really heavy cans or some speakers you can drive them from the back outputs. ONE WEIRD THING: I have the second rendition of this product, the power brick has gotten smaller, which is good, however if you have it inside of arms length away, you might hear a high pitched wine coming from it, just sit it a little further away and it's inaudible. Conclusion: Need an AMP/DAC for your new setup? Looking around/inside the 200$ range? Like the color purple? (Or green/blue/yellow/red/white) Want to get some juicy amplification into your life? Well then you probably can do much worse than this. I'd recommend it.

Amazing unit has plenty of power. Sounds great and easy to set up. Has not had a problem with "pops" or other noises. Knob could be a little more solid but not important I use the remote most of the time. Remote is easy to use small and has minimal buttons. It works great!
