Connected at speeds I pay for. 1. Don't bother contacting cable company. Just connect as instructed. Set up is easy. So far so good. No going back and forth with comcast and " other modem company " took 5 mins not 5 hrs to get back online, not one call to comcast... And to be clear, this review is for the ASUS CM-16 Modem. Amazon has the tendency to group all review together, not sure why. Anyway, we also picked up the Asus AC2900 https://www.amazon.com/Dual-band-Dual-core-AiProtection-Compatible-RT-AC86U/dp/B0752FD3XJ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1530347743&sr=8-2&keywords=asus+ac2900 , i mean, worth every penny so far. Thank you Asus. Now, Asus should come out with a modem that will support 1 gig + of speed soon.

We were using an older Linksys modem and were being disconnected from TWC every couple of days. I bought this unit and found it significantly increased my coverage (range) in the house, but was still being disconnected regularly. A TWC tech rep. suggested a visit from a technician to determine the problem. Note that he had "pinged " my modem and found a "lot" of noise. The tech guy showed up and did some tests and determined that there was an occasional unacceptable amount of noise causing my modem to shut down. He did some tests and determined that the cable from the box outside to the outside of the house was causing this situation. The tech disconnected the old cable from the utility pole to the house and ran a new one. This immediately eliminated the "noise" and we were able to reestablish the modem connection to the internet. In the 60 or so days since we have not experienced a single problem, the modem is connected to an Asus RT-N66U Router and covers the entire house. We can watch Netflix on one end of the house with this modem on the other (About 45 feet). All my network stuff is Asus because it just works well.

This tripled my internet connection speed. I have a 560 Ti video card and was having trouble playing Pubg and such (in fact it would freeze and I wouldnt be able to play at all) So instead of getting a new video card I first checked to see if upgrading my severely outdated and basic modem would help. It did. I can not only run Pubg now ,but it runs smoothly. I cant remember exact Up and down specs but I remember it basically tripled my internet speed. This is also a great family modem as well because I have multiple units running from the router (which I upgraded as well) and everything runs fine. No problems, started right up, performs excellently. 5/5.

I was switching internet to Comcast Xfinity and decided to purchase my own cable modem to avoid the $10 a month rental fee. Initially I was looking at an all in one router combo, but decided it would be in my best interest to purchase a separate router and cable modem. The issues I found after researching are that a lot of those all in one units have problems with the wireless degrading over time and they're expensive to replace. The biggest issue is that cable modem firmware is not controlled by the end user or owner, the cable company is the only one who can upgrade it. Therefore you can not apply your own patches and fixes from the manufacturer. With that out of the way I ultimately decided to purchase this Asus CM-16 16x4 cable modem due to price and the fact that the 16x4 Arris Surfboard SB6183 has a few crazy reviews. Apparently the Arris Surfboard SB6183 runs extremely hot and sometimes gives off a nasty burning smell. This modem was going to be in my living room and regularly around young children so I opted to try this Asus CM-16 cable modem. The tech who installed cable services to my house called in to have the modem provisioned and initially they tried to tell him that the modem was not an approved device, but backed down once I told them it was on their approved list of devices. Once it was provisioned, about 3 resets later and I was up and running. The technician complimented me on the modem twice saying he could not believe how quickly it rebooted and came back online. He said their normal modem they provide usually takes about 5 minutes to reboot and resync, while this Asus CM-16 was taking about half that time. I've only been using the modem for 24 hours now, but so far it is providing the internet speeds I am paying for and it is not putting off much heat at all. I paired this cable modem with an ASUS RT-ACRH13 Dual-Band 2x2 AC1300 Wifi 4-port Gigabit Router with USB 3.0 and the wireless network smokes my old internet provider's 2-Wire modem both in range and speed transferring between devices. I'll update this review after I have spent more time with the Asus CM-16 16x4 Cable Modem. ::Update 1 - 3 Weeks:: I've been using the ASUS CM-16 16x4 Cable Modem for 3 weeks now. Other than once when there was a Comcast outage in my neighborhood, it has worked perfectly. I have not reset the modem at all yet and there is no crazy heat or funny smells. The cable modem is barely even warm every time I've touched it, even when it's downloading large Xbox One games or updates. So far I am very happy with my cable modem purchase. ::Update 2 - 2 Months:: We still have not had any major issues with this Asus cable modem. We've lost power a few times one night, but it worked fine once the power was back up. It still is barely warm to the touch, silent, and quick to reconnect to Xfinity. The LED lights are a little on the bright side some nights, but they do not seem to bother my kids in their rooms. ::Update 3 - 3 Months:: Still going strong. I did reset my router and cable modem the other day because I was having some difficulty with the internet. Everything came back up though. ::Update 4 - 13 Months:: Over the past year I've reset it 3 times I believe. Once there was definitely something going on, because the internet came back up afterwards. Still no issues with heat or smells. Extremely happy with my purchase. I did NOT get this modem at a discount for my opinion or any of that garbage.

So far, this modem has performed excellently. We have 100/10 internet and while I was always happy with the performance of their supplied Cable Modem, I could not stand the god awful wireless router that was bundled with it. I have a separate WAP but the router itself would go to pieces when doing any PtP downloading of over about 27 connections or so. It was so bad that you couldn't even access the web ui. I picked up this modem based on the spectrum approved modem list and after a surprisingly short call, the spectrum tech had it activated. He was actually surprised at how fast it took their script and activated. I speed tested it and was getting the same burst rate of about 120 down and 12 up. Now I can connect my $25 ebay refurbished dual core computer running pfSense as a wired router. A little later I contacted Spectrum through chat support to inquire about removing their $5 "Spectrum WIFI" fee and off the cuf asked about upgrading to 300/20 service. I am not bundled and only purchase internet service through Spectrum. He told me that since I provided my own 300Mbps capable modem they had recently done away with the $200 "Upgrade fee" and the 300/20 would only be $20 more a month! I asked him to activate the speed upgrade and instantly saw the cable modem power cycle. After it reset, I speed tested at 350/22 ! This modem is awesome.

Probably going to upgrade my plan later for 400mbps to really push it but it works as advertised getting great speeds Updated review i dont know about 600 mbps speeds i upgraded to gigabit speeds and going to order a gigabit modem but i tried to max this modem out well the most ive gotten out of it is 360mbps threw a wired connection to my router cat 7 too router and cat 5e to my computer will update for speeds with my gigabit modem

I recently switched providers and I bought this modem to avoid the Comcast monthly rental fee. I'm going from 13mbps dsl to 150mbps cable service so I was pretty excited. However, the installer said he could not register the modem because it was too new or defective. He said I should return it and that he would install a Comcast modem to get me up and running. Of course I agreed so that I could have my service turned on. Unfortunately I started having problems right away. The speed with the Comcast modem was great but it kept dropping wifi and I was being disconnected even on LAN, feeling frustrated, I decided to see if I could try and install the ASUS CM-16 DOCSIS modem myself. I followed the simple instructions listed and I was able to do it on my FIRST try! Without ever placing the dreaded call to Comcast! I have it paired with ASUS RT-ACRH13 Dual-Band 2x2 AC1300 Wifi 4-port wifi router and haven't been dropped once yet and I'm getting great speed test results. I'm very pleased so far with this ASUS modem router combo so far. On the Comcast website the ASUS CM-16 DOCSIS Modem is on the list of approved devices.

My old modem was limiting my speeds to just over 100 mbps so I got this one for the increased channels/downstream bandwidth. My current downstream is pretty much at the maximum for what my ISP allows (currently around 240mbps). Installation: I had no issues with installation but I also was installing this alongside a new router so I had to do additional configuration regardless. I disconnected my old modem, installed this one with the existing coax cable, and connected to the new router. Use: I've been using it for about 4 months, and I have not touched it since the initial installation. Slightly Less Important Things Appearance: I think it looks pretty good. It has a simple rectangular design, and if I had to have it out in the open I probably wouldn't mind displaying it. The attached stand does its job well. If I had to list a con, it would be that the stand is not removable, so you won't be able to easily lay it on its side or mount it to a wall or rack.

Based on reviews, the fact that I don't want to pay a monthly fee for a rental modem and that I already have an Asus router, I bought this modem. At installation day, a Xfinity technician installed this modem. With success, but the maximum speed was only 60Mbs (I have a 200Mbs plan). According to him the modem doesn't work with Xfinity. Something about not being able to send the right package to the modem. As a service, I got the rental modem for free for 6 months. I sent an email to Asus and they advised me to try it one more time. Including refreshing the DHCP, checking firewall, etc. After switching modems, I did what they recommended. After 20 minutes the wireless speed was around 200Mbs. Long story short, this modem has been working super since then. I am very happy that I tried the set up one more time before returning the modem to Asus.

had to upgrade from docsis 2.0 cable and checked out a few brands but can't go wrong with asus. I end up picking this though i know there is a future proof cable modem from arris /motorola but i just don't see the speed going that high for a while so spending a bit more money for a few mbits doesn't seem logical...16 streams down is more then enough to handles my 4k viewing with 3 or more people watching and gaming. I did test this modem for few months now and it doesn't seem to slow down and keeps up the pace
