Very pleased after 2 years of use

This product surprised me. I wasn't expecting it to work as well as it does. After the first couple uses I didn't really notice much change but, by the end of the first week, it was quite noticeable. I had problems with skin irritation with other hair coloring products but have not had any issues with this product. My hair is pretty short so I use it 3 or 4 times a week to keep up with new growth. I know the instructions indicate it is only for use on the head, but I've been using on my facial hair as well with good results. Typically, I wash my hair and beard with regular shampoo, rinse, then apply the control gx. I leave it in for 2 minutes then rinse well. I have never had color transfer to my towels or pillows. I have had it stain my shower if some dripped onto the shower and I didnt catch it, but mostly it rinses off just fine. A little Clorox bathroom cleaner takes it off just fine if I do get a stain. I did have some darkening of my fingernails on the hand I use to apply the shampoo...not always but occasionally. I now use an exam glove to prevent the discolored nails. Works great. I could probably get by without the glove if I were more careful with not using the fingertips to apply the shampoo but the glove is easier. It's still way less hassle than using traditional hair color products. The scent is not too strong and is completely gone after rinsing. I have been using the control gx regularly for nearly 2 years and couldn't be more pleased with the results. Initially I bought 1 each of the shampoo and shampoo with conditioner. My hair is quite short and the conditioner didn't seem to have any additional benefit for me, so I have been using the shampoo only. The control gx is easy and effective. The 2 minutes I leave it on is the perfect time to brush my teeth so it really takes very little extra time and gives me a much more natural looking result than traditional hair color products.

Messy, but works amazingly well.

(1) make sure you follow the instructions and test it on your skin to make sure you aren’t allergic to it. (2) don’t bother using it in the shower, way too messy. I use the product at night after dinner. Wet my hair in my bathroom sink, use rubber gloves, lather into my hair and let it sit for several minutes. Then rinse in my sink and use either an old towel or dark towel to dry my hair, wipe my face, neck, ears and then wipe down my sink. (3) rinse the gloves well and save them for the next time. (4) allow enough time for your hair to air dry thoroughly before going to bed or risk staining you sheets and pillow cases. I put an old hand towel on my pillow to be safe (expensive sheets so worth the hassle to be safe) (5) the whole process above, except the drying, takes all of 5 minutes. Results are amazing. I was very silver/white on the sides and back of my head. Even had spots of white in the back. It evened out the consistency of my color to a brown but with a nice dark gray. Got a hair cut today and it was dark gray to brown hair on the floor and didn’t look like it was snowing for the first time in a long time! I can see this not working for people with very short hair, receding hair or otherwise. I have a full head of hair and couldn’t be happier.

It works exactly as advertised and based on its actual use is not expensive at all.

What can I say, my hair was as white as a Q-tip and now it is a nice silver color. I read the directions as all the other reviews suggested and it was worthwhile. I applied with latex gloves (no latex allergy here) for a minute or two. I did this 5 days in a row and I already had gotten to where I wanted to be. I skipped 5 days and then applied it twice more. I did not become stunning or gorgeous, I'm still looking for that product, but my hair is no longer cotton ball white. Control GX is perfect and did its job. Because of the gloves I did not get stained fingers. The allergy test before first use was simple. It did not splash and stain the shower/shower curtain. Because I only had to use it a few times the price to get to where I wanted to be actually made the cost very cheap. One note, I apply a touch of the shampoo to my sideburns and to my facial hair before hopping into the shower and it did have a darkening affect. Again, I was not going for dark hair but a nice silver affect and I got exactly that. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to darken their white hair.

I purchased this because the regular dye was tedious, messy, and inconvenient. This has changed the way I maintain my hair color. I do have coarse hair, so the sides have not taken to the color as well, but the top has minimal grey. This is easy to use. If you can shampoo and wash your hair, then you can control your grey with this. Because my hair is more coarse, I do practically use this everyday (my hair is naturally black, so I am not concerned with over darkening). I typically use about nickel to quarter size, and leave in for about two minutes. I have had no issues with staining my bathtub/shower surround, though I do have tile and glass instead of a shower curtain. I also have a secondary handheld shower head, so I rinse off surfaces after I have completed my shampoo and shower. Dry skin around fingernail beds to take on a dark hue, so the recommendation to lotion before showering should be taken.

Things never work as well as you hope, except for this shampoo!

I've had grey hair since college. Now almost in my 50's, I've decided to "upgrade" my look. I've used hair salon's to once change my hair color and the other highlight it to try take the edge off my mostly grey hair. Both were expensive and had very dubious results. I've never dyed my hair myself b/c I didn't want the hassle. This shampoos is perfect. It only takes a minute during a shower and really gradually reverses the grey. It so subtle its awesome. I've used it 3 times so far and no allergy issues and the grey is definitely subdued. My wife and I noticed the difference after the second application. I might use it 1-2 times more to get it just a little bit more darker and go on maintenance mode. Shampoo itself looks like lotion. I thought it would look black like dye, though I guess it changes color when it hits the air. Careful to shake tube prior to using, use disposable gloves, and be careful to have it run straight down the drain so as to not stain shower. Couldn't be more pleased with results. Shaved 10 years off my hair color. Looks really good and natural. Makes my whitish hair more salt and pepper how I like it. Plan to use it for rest of professional career in technology.

Great results after two applications!

This stuff really works! I've only applied the color product twice in 5 days yet so far the results are really nice. After two applications the change in hair color is certainly noticeable yet at this point I still have a bit of grey mixed in with the brown which overall makes my hair look authentic, not colored. I'm not even sure I'll do another application, not just yet anyway. I applied the first application according to the directions and into wet hair and I ended up with a small amount of darkening. However, I followed another user's suggestion for the second app. With rubber kitchen gloves and the color product l ran my fingers through my DRY hair, waited 2-3 minutes then jumped in the shower and rinsed it all off. That seems to have worked even better, at least in my hair. (Note: That is not the manufacturer's directions.) I am very pleased.

Works great.

Found a secret to make it work faster (try at your own risk but it didn't bother my skin at all). Apply to dry hair by way of combing it through with a fine comb just before your shower. Don't scrub it in or you'll get it on your scalp. Comb with the direction of your hair so it doesn't fling off all over everything. By the time you have combed it in you should be at the 5 minutes then just shower it off. Use conditioner after so your hair wont be so dry. It worked in 5 applications to bring my 90% gray to about 10%. Again, try this method at your own risk but I found it to work well and quickly. Works as well as the JFM gray reducer but goes way further. I think I could get 10 applications out of this tube.

Works as advertised.

Works as advertised. This will dye your finger nails; as long as you wash yours hands afterwords this is minimized. One container will last about 2-3 months. my hair is dark brown with medium gray. I cut my hair to one inch every 4-6 weeks. When I cut my hair, more gray shows so I goop the shampoo on for 3-4 days. Then use twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday. This gives me 95 percent coverage. I also leave the shapoo in for more than a minute. Results are great!

It flat out works!

I normally don’t write reviews unless I hate the product or love the product. In the case of Just For Men Control GX 2 in 1 Shampoo and conditioner, I LOVE this product. The before/after picture is a reference, the after picture was taken after 6 uses. PROS: Control GX simply works and does exactly as advertised. Simple to use and left my hair feeling as good and soft as regular shampoo/conditioner. After six uses the tube is still at least half full so a little goes a long way. CONS: Only one. The staining of fingernails is very real so keep that in mind. Using the palms of your hands or gloves is my recommendation. NOTES: 1- Each day after massaging it in, I left it in for the following time frames; Day 1- 1-2 minutes Day 2- 3 minutes Day 3- 3-5 minutes Day 4- 3-5 minutes Day 5- 5-7 minutes Day 6- 5-7 minutes 2- Some people have reported hair loss; no such thing in my experience. 3- It does run purple after rinsing so make sure you hose down the shower after use. 4- I used a dark towel for drying my hair so I can’t speak to if it stains light towels. 5- With dry hair, no staining of clothes from sweating or staining pillow cases at night. 6- Do the skin test, better safe than sorry. I had no issues. Today was the first day of using my regular shampoo/conditioner and I see zero change in the color, I’ll update this review as the color starts to fade to see how long it takes. I’m very happy with Control GX, it brought my hair back to my natural color of dark brown and did it evenly. Using it for 1-2 minutes a day will take longer but achieve the same results I’m sure, I was just impatient! I will strongly recommend this product.
