I purchased the "Stage 1-TRUArt woodburning kit to get me started on a hobby I thought about trying for many many years and to spruce up home projects. I read and watched lots of video clips on "How to woodburn" and the different types of woodburning pens which contributed to me choosing the TRUArt kit. Received kit 3 days after ordering. A sturdy plastic case contained all the tips, pen and metal letter stencil. After reading enclosed instructions, I plugged in the pen and got busy. I started with the universal tip drawing lines on pine. Pen took about two minutes to reach full burning temperature. While drawing lines, the pen tended to reduce temperature for about 10 seconds then heat back to set temperature. I guess that's normal. The tips would loosen a bit as mentioned in the instructions during use. Following the instructions, I would gently tighten the tip with pliers. Tip would remain tight after that. Pen is well insulated. There was no heat transfer to the handle. I’ve had this pen for 5 days now and would estimate about 20 hours of use. Other than tip loosening, I experienced no problem. I feel this TRUArt kit is a good purchase for a beginner.

My husband loves this! Seller even sent a message with helpful tips about using this and how to prevent it from getting damaged from use! Very useful information for a very cool tool!

Outstanding Product, Outstanding, Service, and Outstand Price. Thank you so much.

Very happy with this product. Came exactly as described, works well and have no issues. The variety of tips is also very handy. My wife lives this tool.

I got into wood burning out of curiosity several years ago, and bought the cheapest pyrography pen my local craft store had. It worked well enough, but as I started getting more into it and had more requests for my work I wanted to take a step up with my pen. I do a lot of pet portraits which I burn and finish with a paint wash, and this suits my needs just fine for the time being. I don’t use a large variety of tips, generally only about 3 or 4, but the ones I have used work well and change easily. I like the two heat settings, and the grip is much more comfortable than my previous pen. I am even thinking about purchasing a second pen so I can have a backup and not have to wait for it to cool down to switch tips. I would definitely recommend this to someone getting their feet wet in wood burning.

"This item is exactly what to expect by reading the description. This comes with a lot of different tips!!! Plus a stencil with the alphabet, as well as a few other things. The product came on time. I had to test it out a little, worked nicely and cannot wait to start a project."

I am SO impressed with this tool. First of all, I have already ruined 2 of these that were from other makers. I won't ruin this one because it came with the best set of instructions, hints, and warnings I've ever seen. The other ones just said to change the tips with needle nose piers or vise grips - they didn't say anything about letting the tools/tips cool down! So of course I stripped the threads and bent the tips (and maybe cried a little). Looking at my poor battered tips I see that almost all of them have teeth marks from the pliers, and I feel real bad for ruining them. So I need new tips, and I will probably buy another pen right away to have a spare just in case. It is so much more comfortable to hold that I can do better lines with it! This is a new art form for me, and I am enjoying it immensely. Now that I have better directions and a superior tool it will be even more fun to finish my projects. Thanks for reading this far, and thank you Pavel for the great instructions!

I recently got introduced to the concept of pyrography and wanted to give it a go. Found this set and so far have been having a blast getting to know the tool. I have had the tool for about two days and am already enjoying this new hobby... attached are a couple of my sample / practice pieces. Having to hold so far back on the handle takes some getting used to and I quickly understood why so many have recommended the use of gloves... the heat coming off of the metal can be fairly intense. Pros: inexpensive entry tool; can get good results and can see that I can get reasonable results with this model; Cons: The grip point makes detail lines a bit difficult (compared to a grip point closer to the tip - found on the more expensive models), but I am certain can be overcome with practice; I have found that the tips become loose quite frequently; the time to heat up is not really that bad, the time to cool-down (so you can change out the tips) is a bit long, but with planning (or figuring out how to do it with just one tip?) this too is not too big of a downside... just need to get over the mind-set of "I must have it now". Overall, with 3-4 sessions under my belt, I am very happy with the results... a bit concerned that this model may be a gateway product into the more expensive models... I can easily seeing me upgrading in the near future; my daughters can then enjoy the benefit of this model... until then I am looking forward to honing my shading skills!!!

For Christmas I made everyone in my family a wood burnt craft (not everyone was going to be there for Christmas but the total number of people was 24, so I knew I needed a really good pen). I had seen the TRUArt pen and knew it must be pretty good to get such great reviews. But I went with another wood burning kit because the kit had more and the most varied tips. It was also cheaper than the TRUArt pen. When the kit arrived I was not at all pleased with the pen. It was wobbly, did not feel solid in my hand, and was a little awkward to grip. So I immediately kicked myself for being so cheap (and it is not even that expensive) and went to Amazon and ordered the TRUArt pen. Wow, what a difference. It feels so solid and natural in my hands. I now have 5 wood burning pens and the TRUArt one is by far the best!

As newbies to this craft, we wanted to start small, and this pen fit the bill perfectly. I watched a couple of tutorials, and off we went! This pen is lightweight, easy to manage and control. The high setting is super hot and burns quickly and easily with a light touch. The low setting offers good control and is a little more forgiving. I was easily able to produce pretty good images out of the gate. I am sure with practice, we will get lots of use from this quality item and look forward to making some beautiful crafts. I love all the tips it came with and am excited to try all the techniques out!
