I bought this explorer set for my 6 year old nephew's b-day. Jason loves playing in the backyard so I decided to purchase this set as a gift for him. After doing a bit of research I found this set to be the most inclusive for little kids that love the outdoors. It's pretty cool, it comes with binoculars, magnifying glass, compass and flashlight plus a nice little carry bag so Jason can actually carry all the set around with him and more importantly it won't get lost. At least not on the first week 🙂. The binoculars are very nice. They have a little pouch they come with for extra protection when they are inside the carrying bag. Magnification works good, it's adjustable to fit the desired eye distance. Flashlight - Very cool! You don't need any batteries for it so it's very environment friendly. If you want to recharge it, you can simply press the button on it a few times and it will recharge automatically. It gives the set a little more 'adventurous' kind of aspect. The compass and magnifying glass are pretty straight forward, not much I have to say about them except that they work and do what their supposed to do. This set is an attractive gift. That's what I liked the most. Jason opened the box and instead of seeing only one gift, he actually found four inside. One thing I would recommend the company to maybe do is make the magnifier glass to magnify a bit more than the way it is now. Jason LOVES looking at insects (weird I know) so I know he would like that. Anyway I did decide to give this product a 5 star rating because my overall experience was fantastic and Ben from the company even follows up with an email to make sure I received everything on time and to make sure everything works.

Update to the update...Back2Nature contacted me to make sure I was happy with my purchase. I let them know about the broken flashlight and they immediately responded that they would send a replacement kit. Yay! Update...unfortunately I have to knock off a star. The flashlight is in four pieces after only a couple days of play. Thankfully my daughter already had a flashlight but I can't imagine what she'll say if the binoculars break. My five year old did extra chores all summer to earn enough money for this kit. She was SO excited to get it and it exceeded my expectations as well. There was a case for the binoculars as well as a small backpack for all the pieces. The backpack was a surprise but turned out to be pivotal to the experience. Even my two year old and one year old like this kit! We've only had it a few days so I can't comment on durability, but it seems well made. Very happy!

Great gift for kids! I've bought for my kid that likes hiking & loves explore the nature. The kit comes with a nice yellow bag and put all things while walking. The binoculars are in good quality. During the trip we visited the cave and my kid used a flashlight. Hiking was much more fun to my kid with this kit . Highly recommended!

Bought this kids outdoor set in preparation for a hiking trip. The kids loved it! Especially the hand manual operated flashlight. They loved learning about the fact that their body movement can create energy to power it! We printed a map and the kids (6 & 8) we’re responsible to lead the way using to compass. This set totally made this hiking a memorable empowering experience for them and great fun moments for us parents. Highly recommended!!

we bought this for our 5y old daughter, and she absolutely loves it. she even took it to show and tell and now all the kids in her class want one :) our daughter walks around the house with the kit inside the included bag and calls it her "adventure pack". she can't wait to take it on our upcoming trip to Yosemite. it's a great present as beyond the fun and games, it opens up interesting conversations and learning experiences with her, teaching her about directions, how a compass works, looking at objects through a looking glass to discover new things, and trying to watch birds and squirrels using the binoculars. definitely recommend!

Okay, here's the breakdown. Binocs: great for my 6 year old, who previously had a very expensive pair (they were lost on a flood). These seem just as awesome to him, and as a bonus, they also have a compass on the hinge part, and do come with a neck lanyard. They're enough for a kid with previous experience, so they're probably fine for a kid with no previous experience. Flashlight: I think it's comparable, weight wise, how it feels in your hand, to probably a $5 battery powered flashlight. But it's squeeze powered! Super fun. Probably will retire to my purse. Compass: It works. Points north. Plus there's a little magnifying glass on it, for some reason. It's a copy of an engineers compass, apparently. Husband says it's too easily swayed by magnets, which son thinks is part of the fun! Magnifying glass: son loves it's portability. I like that it's one piece, no frame to break. Bag: not so happy with this. Son gets tangled up in the strings. Count on having to help most of the time if your child can't tie their shoes yet. Overall, totally happy with it. You can't spend $25 on something like this and expect each item to be super high quality. But these are good quality. Son is 6 and I think he'll still be using these when he's ten.

A great collection of items for a child who is interested in the outdoors! My grandsons (ages 5 and 6) were given this for their birthday. They immediately opened the box it came in and began to open and play with each item. The binoculars and crank flashlight were the bigget hits but I'm sure when they begin to learn how to use the other items, those too will be favorites. The binoculars appear to be good for a child who is playing or beginning to show interest in bird-watching as they work well and yet at a good size and weight for a child. The little backpack holds all the items plus a bit more (like a notebook and perhaps a lightweight snack for hiking). I was quite pleased with my purchase even though I was surprised at the small box it all fit in--it was very well packed, probably could not get it back into that box! The backpack will hold it all ready for adventure and will be helpful when they go hiking. Both boys were able to use the items and backpack with very little help and the items should hold up to many hours of play and learning.

This is a set for kids so I expected something that would be a little bit "cheaply" made. I was pleasantly surprised to open the box and discover the quality of the products! It looks like a set for a pro; not only the package itself was sturdy and well made, but also each item has its own cover and a bag to hold it all. I can't wait to take my kids exploring! Makes a great gift for their friends' birthday.

I purchased this for my 5 year old grand-nephew as a gift. I think his parents were more excited than he was at first. When they started showing him how to use all the great things in this kit, he got more excited about it. It is not like some cheap plastic children's toys you find. Everything in this children's outdoor explorer set is really top quality, durable, functional stuff. I was really impressed with how well every component worked. I highly recommend this set.

Three year old granddaughter got it for Christmas and loves it. She has used the binoculars and magnifier so far and is looking forward to the flashlight & compass. It's an outdoor toy so hasn't gotten much use yet. It is well-built, exciting to have 4 toys in one. Everything well packed with holders & a backpack bag. Even a lens cleaner for the binoculars was included! A very nice set & happy with quality and content. A good toy, inspiring imagination and outdoor play.
