This 25 ft length was just right to hold my Lab/Boxer mix who recently learned how to jump the chain link fence. I won't have to track her down anymore after putting her on this to exercise. She may not be too happy about it, but I will know she is safe when I put her out the backdoor.. The dome stake was heavier duty than I thought it would be I was very pleased.

I bought this after my German shepherd chewed through a length of rope we used to use to secure him in the yard. I have a large yard (over 2 acres), but it is not enclosed, its surrounded by trees and bushes. I took in Jackie when he was already 3 and he is not an indoor dog, he gets restless in the house and loves being outside. While still training him in the first few weeks to stay within the property, I would keep him tied to a huge length of rope tied around a tree in the middle of the yard, which gave him full reign to explore the yard. Well, bad idea as he would slowly chew on the rope when we weren't watching. One day he chewed through, we didn't realize it and neither did he till he went to his favorite spot in the shade at the end of the property. From the porch, I watched him walk over there as usual, not even realizing there was only 3 feet of rope trailing from his collar, till he walked straight through the tree line and took off like a shot. Given he had only been with us a few weeks, screaming his name didn't work, by the time I made it to the other side of the property, he was no longer in sight. I found him a half mile away on a property with 2 dogs. I bought this after that and despite his best efforts, he did not manage to chew through the steel cable, did mangle a bunch of the plastic coating. Nowadays he doesn't need the cable to stay on the property and knows his name. He also spends more time in the house. I keep the cable because it will come in handy for our next rescue. BTW, while a well trained dog is best, it can take a while, especially with rescues. My view is a cable or rope is much better than using a shock collar which is animal crueltyin my eyes.

I used this tie-out for my 80 lb English coonhound. She has some massive strength and had managed to snap 2 previous tie-outs I had bought. This tie-out has lasted an entire year without any incident. She was tied outside for 5 hrs everyday so my grandma could let her ducks out. The only reason I have to replace it is because it finally rusted from being kept outside every single day in the hot sun and also the rain. Living in Florida has its ups and downs. I will be ordering another to replace the one that finally gave out a year later.

I have two pitbull black lab mix dogs about 70lbs each. They love to run and play and get these tie outs very twisted as you can see in photos. With all that twisting daily these tie outs are not ruined due to how they are made. The casing and the stronger cables work better than any other brand. I have had this set over 4 months. Reason I had to replace them is our fault as someone did not untwisting them at least every other day so they start to wear and then the casing breaks, rusts and freys or in the winter due to upstate New York weather, the freezing causes them to crack easier after being twisted in the same spot over and over but I still get 3 months or longer which is much better than any other ones and these are half the price. After I reordered I noticed these have a one year guarantee so I contacted customer service and they refunded me the cost to replace the ones ruined due to the weather and that is why I've only had this set 4 months. If you take care of them they are great and I highly recommend these tie outs.

This was basically what I had before, but cost so much less than what I paid through Pet Smart (which lasted about a year). Although my dogs are not that big, they put their cable through the ropes when they run hard to the end of it (usually due to another dog or neighbor walking by), especially my 14 pound Chihuahua/Feist mix. I live in an apartment, so the only place to hook it up is to the pole holding the front entrance roof up and she jerks it so hard the post moves slightly at the bottom sometimes. Glad to get this at this price and to find it is just as strong as the old one was.

After owning and using this in the weather 24/7 for 60 days. I must say this is the most durable cable I have purchased to date. No signs of rust yet and cable covering is like new. Will repurchase when needed. old review This is by far the best built tie-out I have bought to date. The only wish I have after reading some of the reviews and receiving the product is the release button is to big and I could see possibly unlatching by hitting the cable. It hasn't happened to me yet but I do wonder. Other than that, seems well built and durable, hope it doesn't come unhooked and we'll see how it weathers. One thing I did because the end that is hooked to the run is in the weather, I sprayed a little WD 40 on spring latches on both ends.

I have 2 of the strongest pulling Pit Bull Mixes and have gone through most everything on the market just to get them outside in the yard (one is a fence climber and the other one sprouts wings and flies over anything). We cable them while standing outside with them multiple times daily and then leash work with them at same time, but CANNOT leave them alone for fear they'll get out of the yard, so ---- these are THE ONLY cables that have worked thus far and they are MARVELOUS !! Rugged, durable and industrial strength and both of my girls act like they have nothing attached to them. If you have large breed dogs, you HAVE TO TRY THESE !! :)

We use these tie-outs for our Great Pyrenees. We link two together, and attach one end to a swivel on the ground, the other end to his collar. These are by far the best tie-out that we have used. The clips are very sturdy and reliable, and the cable holds up far longer than any others we have tried. The dog chews on the cable, and eventually weakens it to the point where it can break when he lunges against it to chase a car, which is why I rate chew-proof as only four stars. It usually lasts for about two months before it looks like it really needs replacement. I think for a dog that doesn't chew the cable, the tie-out could last for years. The only other cause of failure that I have observed is when the cable gets tangled and the dog pulls the tangle tight; at that point it can't be unknotted, and the sharp kink in the cable causes the plastic covering to crack and the cable strands to begin to fail. We've had a couple of instances where that caused a failure before the chewing. My assessment is that it's the best that a cable tie-out can be for a big dog, but like everything, it's not quite perfect.

This product is excellent! It is heavy duty and truly does not twist and kink up. I have tried many tie outs and they all fail--until now. I use one for a lab and another for a large Pyrenees who is an escape artist and loves to roam. It worked so well I ordered more tie-outs to stake out two large and very strong goats for grazing ---and it even works like a charm for them. The use need not be limited to dogs! You can also link two of them together for a 50 ft. range. So glad I found this tie out. The price is right too.

**Updated review 8/2017** We've been using the replacement cable the company sent under their warranty policy. Night and day difference to the first cable! Updating from 1 star to 5 stars!! Right out of the package this product appeared to need a breaking in period as the lever and spring to open to allow the D Ring to be attached to the chain often did not want to open. This item had been purchased a month ago and has always been inside so rusting/moisture isn't to blame. It started to work good until yesterday and of course the return period is now up! Will have to look for another..hard to find quality these days.
