I used these to put together some bookcases that I ordered to replace the ones that came with them (they seemed a little flimsy) I cannot begin to tell you how glad I am that I did. The bookcases are sturdier than I coulf have hoped for in fact I need to order 2 more bookcases and I might just tell them to ship them without their dowels. Great investment.

Good Value for dowels

A must for furniture repair

These dowel pins are grooved for glue and beveled at the ends for easy installation. I had an old ‘Captains Chair’ with 3 broken wood screws. I had to use an ‘easy out’ to remove the imbedded broken tips of the screws. One screw was so hard to remove, the original hole was damaged. In a case like that, you drill the original screw hole to 3/8”, insert a dowel pin, and then redrill the hole for the wood screw. These dowel-pins made a first class repair possible.

Does what it's meant to do.

Ordered these to use with a Rockler 3/8 doweling jig and works perfectly. For the 3/8" diameter holes, the dowels fit perfectly and can be hand pressed into a snug fit if dry or a rubber mallet tap if you've applied glue to the hole. Not much can be said about how this product can go wrong. It does what it's supposed to do.

I get it, a round peg in a round hole. What could go wrong?

These dowels are very uniform in terms of diameter, and the first one fits like the last. They're thick enough that they have to be tapped in with a hammer, which is ideal, because all that friction helps hold them perpetually in place. I've never had a dowel break, or come out of it's hole. I don't usually do a dry fit test (without glue) because the dowels are a bit difficult to remove once installed. Not impossible, mind you, just a bit of a pain. Also, a second fitting isn't going to be as tight as the first. So I measure carefully folks, and be prepared to pull your project apart quickly if somethings wrong.

These were great dowels. They fit tightly, but not too tightly. And definitely were not loose. They held glue well. Overall just a perfect product.
