DO NOT wet your face with water before using this product! Massage the product directly onto dry skin. It will mositurise your skin and remove dirt and excess oil. You can even leave it on your skin so it penetrates better. When you wash it off, your skin will feel extremely moisturized and clean and your natural oils will not be striped away. It is very gentle. Please note that this product is not meant to remove makeup! I see a lot of people giving this product bad reviews because they don't know how to use it and what its purpose is. It works well for me since I don't want my skin drying out.

CeraVe products are known to be holy grails for some people and not so much for others. I used to use Neutrogena products for years before switching to CeraVe. Once I started using this, my face stopped being insanely dry and flakey. I used this in tandem when I got prescribed Clindamycin gel and Adapalene (no longer use either after ~6 months). Works great as a gentle cleanser. I use it when I wake up and then at night and the bottle will last almost a whole year for me. The texture of the cleanser is a bit weird, kinda like lotion but you'll get used to it. Also try looking for this at Target! It might be cheaper and you can also use CeraVe coupons from their website. Keep up your skincare routine!

I have dry, extremely sensitive skin. I bought this cleanser on a whim, and it’s the best one I’ve ever used! I’m shocked by all of the negative reviews. To be specific, this cleanser does not lather like soap. It reminds me a lot of how primer from Bare Minerals feels. It’s silky smooth! I use one pump, and rub it all over my face for about a minute. I’ve never had an issue with it not removing my makeup! I mean, waterproof mascara needs a little extra help coming off. But regular foundation, eye shadow, etc comes off just fine. I used to not be able to wash my face multiple times a day for fear of my skin drying out. Now I can wash my face as often as I want and I never dry out. I feel like this cleanser really does “restore the skin barrier”. Not every beauty product works for everyone. But I had to leave a positive review for this product I love so much! I look forward to washing my face now, and it’s helped me to stick to my skin care routine.

I’ve been using this cleanser for a few weeks now. Because I have oily skin, I used to avoid overly hydrating skin care products. Turns out that was a mistake.....for me. Now that I’m treating my skin in a more gentle manner, my oil production has significantly decreased, and my overall skin health is much much better. I didn’t realize how dehydrated my skin actually was due to all the oil I was producing. I don’t think my skin has ever been this healthy now that I’m using the CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer. I’m WAY less oily now!

I have been using this face wash for about a month now. I wanted to wait to post a review to make sure my results weren't just a fluke thing. I suffer from cystic acne. I have since I was a teenager. I am now in my early 30's. I'll get normal pimples here and there, but I more commonly get deep cystic pimples that I could do absolutely nothing about besides wait (sometimes up to a month or two) for them to finally go away on their own. I have tried too many products to count ranging from Proactiv to Differin to every over the counter face wash/cream/gel you can think of. I tried changing my diet numerous times and cutting out certain foods that are known for causing acne flare ups. I have tried everything. I take Ortho Tri-Cyclen birth control pills since they are supposed to help with acne and also because birth control is supposed to help regulate hormones, and cystic acne is supposedly caused by imbalanced hormones. I got this face wash on a whim. I figured I've tried every acne product out there and always end up with dry, flaky skin (but would still get at least one new break out per week on average). I have read that acne can result from over drying of the skin - that your face produces excess oil to compensate for the drying facial products and the excess oil results in more clogged pores/acne. To be honest, I never bought into that and continued trying a million acne products. I finally broke down and purchased CeraVe Hydrating Face Wash - going in the complete opposite direction of all the products I've used in the past. I figured why not try it? My skin is clear for the first time in YEARS. I haven't had a new break out in two weeks now (which is truly miraculous for me). I still have areas that are healing (which is to be expected), but my skin is smooth. No more bumps and red spots. No more painful cystic acne. I don't know if this is the solution for everyone with acne, but this worked for me. It does feel weird to wash with until you get used to it. I am used to using products that leave your face "squeaky clean". This is more like washing with what feels like a lotion. It is fragrance free, which is a definite plus for anyone (like me) with sensitive skin. But my face is smooth and no longer flaky and tight feeling like it was before. Definitely worth trying if you suffer from acne.

I love this cleanser and it was recommended to me by my dermatologist. She told me not to bother spending a lot of money on high-priced creams when this has the right anti-aging ingredients at a very affordable price. I keep one in the shower and one under the sink. It's creamy but light and not greasy. It rinses off easily.

I live in an extremely dry climate and have struggled with adult acne. Using harsh acne washes dried out my skin even further and I didn't realize I was making it worse! Since switching to this moisturizing cleanser my skin tone and texture has improved DRAMATICALLY and my dehydrated skin is no longer so thirsty. It easily takes off all my makeup and leaves my skin feeling soft afterwards. Will be purchasing again!

just to be clear, this will not remove anything except sweat and the dirt from daily living. It doesn't touch my makeup or even do a good job removing sunscreen - that being said, it is as great, mild cleaner that I use in the morning (just splashing with water doesn't feel clean enough for me) that leaves my face feeling clean and moisturized. For nighttime, or whenever I need a product removed from my face, I have to use something stronger.

The CeraVe cleanser has been my favorite for a few years now because it's so gentle, non-irritating, and keeps my skin from drying out. While it may not have any specialized benefits, it works well as a general hydrating facial cleanser. Just to be clear, this cleanser isn't meant to remove a full face of heavy makeup - it's meant to be a daily cleanser after makeup removal. Other cleansers have stripped my skin too much and have dried me out, but this one never does. It's really become the core of my skincare routine.

My skin is pretty sensitive. For the longest time I just washed with water because of it, and even that was really drying. My dermatologist declared I had oily skin, and recommended the CeraVe cleanser for "normal to oily" skin. God my face just was so taut and dry and itchy after washing, it was the worst! I'd slather in lotion after and that would seem to fix it. But then I tried this stuff! Its sooo niiiiice! No itching! No tautness! Just a dab of lotion on my nose and I'm good. I'm even less oily over the course of the day! Listen to your skin--if your "gentle" cleanser makes you dread every face wash, maybe you don't have "oily" type skin. Note that this cleanser kinda feels like lotion, it does NOT foam like most soap. That doesn't mean it's not cleaning.
