Seems to work very well under a compact florescent lightbulb equal to 100 watts. Its spinning away, although a little bit irregularly. Still, absolutely amazing seeing power from the photovoltaic cells turn the sails. This wind turbine is actually beautiful, spinning or not spinning, and is bigger than it looks on the Amazon page. It is over one foot tall. Has on/off switch. Great for kids to see something powered by photovoltaic cells and not plug in electric or batteries. To understand the significance of this the wind turbine could be used as a starting point to learn about light, the electromagnetic force (one of the four fundamental forces with gravity, strong and weak nuclear forces), photons (light quanta) and Einstein. The sails are actually airfoils, as in an airplane wing, (notice that the thick part of the sail is the leading edge when the sails are spinning- opposite that of a fan) and this is why the sails turn from the wind. This could be used to learn why airplanes fly and Bernoulli's principle ("Physics- The statement that in any horizontally moving fluid the pressure increases as the velocity of flow decreases." (Funk & Wagnall's Standard College Dictionary, page 134.) This means that the airfoil shape of an airplanes wing causes the air the move faster over the top of the wing causing lower air pressure over the top of the wing and hence lift. This why airplanes can fly. The same principle applies to the sails on the wind turbine. Also notice that the trailing edge of the sail has no straight lines, except at the attachment to the hub. This is to prevent vortices from forming of the air pasting over the sail which causes drag and dissipates energy, slowing the sail down. Five stars, buy it and enjoy!

My grandson saw the wind turbines on a trip. When we got back to MI, found there was a wind farm relatively close to us. We visit ever few months. This was a great gift for him. It runs on solar power so no batteries. Easy to snap together. Doing what I wanted it to do. He is very happy 3 1-2 yr old

Oh what a fun. A solar powered windmill. It works great and is a great conversation piece.

It works perfectly & starts spinning in our east window morning until twilight. A great gift for our 5-year-old grandson!

My 5 year old son received this windmill for Christmas and it was by far his favorite gift out of all his toys! Super easy to assemble with only a few pieces and very sturdy. It’s also quiet and the blade spins smoothly by the window or direct light from a lamp or flashlight. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Worth it I didn’t touch on off switch it’s been working since I put it on window sill.

I have this at my desk at work. It’s cute and moves if you place a couple flash lights next to it or leave it by a window.

This was just a fun item to have since I work in the industry.

We loved this. Was easy to put together. But needs a little better instructions.
