Presentation-wise, it is one of the most attractive pieces of networking equipment I have ever seen. The blue light on the top makes it look like it was designed by a cylon or something. I haven't had any issues with it since plugging it in, and it was quick and simple to integrate into my home network. I use it with a Nighthawk router, and it's been easy to integrate the two using the Netgear applications on my phone or in my internet browser. I can monitor, regulate, and manage it with ease. Overall, I would completely recommend this to anyone looking for a highly functional switch.

I like these Netgear people. Safety is right up there with quality. About three weeks ago they sent me an email about the latest firmware update. The instructions walked me right through it. This is the good stuff.

I purchased this both because it has a total of 10 Ethernet ports, but also because 2 of them support 10 gigabit speeds. I have this connected between my NAS and my primary editing computer for high speed file transfers. (Have measured reads/writes in excess of 600MB/s, limited only by the speed of my NAS array.) Other connections are limited to the standard 1 gigabit speed, but for anything short of file transfers to a fast RAID, that is more than fast enough. My only wish is that they would make a version with 3 or more 10gbE ports for this price range.

So few consumer devices actually meet the specs and speeds. Most devices say Gigabyte Ethernet or 10gig Ethernet, but when you run them they top out at 200 megs. I edit video, and it is not uncommon to move a terabyte or 2 at a time between machines. This consumer switch moves the data 4 times faster than my professional Cisco switch that cost twice as much. Every speed test shows it running within 10% of ratings even on the 10 gig ports.

This is one of the best switches I have ever used. The features are extremely useful and the interface is extremely friendly. Setting up Link Aggregation, which is usually a royal pain was simple and it even acknowledges that it's working. Port mirroring helped me discover a faulty device that was affecting my entire network. The ability to see the real time traffic helps me identify which devices need the most bandwidth and prioritize them accordingly. Finally, having, not one, but two SFP+ ports makes this a no-brainer for those with a 10gbe PC and NAS. Products like this are what's needed in the networking field. Feature riched, well tested and QA'd, and simple to use. Well done Netgear!

If you have the need for speed, this router has you covered. I was looking for something to pair with my new Mac Mini with a 10GBE port. I also have a NAS with link aggregation capabilities. This router is awesome and can do anything you want. It can have 4 different link aggregation groups - it could even make a 20GBE LAG, if you want (not sure of the point as there are 8 other gigabit ports). You can aggregate all of the 8 gigabit ports, if your device supports that configuration. It can do wonderful QoS, optimize traffic for games, and many other features. I wasn't sure I would get full 10GBE speed as my house is wired with Cat 5e, but the distance to the router is short and it pings at full 10GBE speed (YMMV). My NAS is now running at 2 gigabits, so practically speaking, that's as fast as I can go so far. Hope to upgrade the NAS to 10GBE soon. Until 10GBE switch prices come down (a lot), this will fill the gap. It is not cheap, but it does what it says. It has high quality metal case and no cooling issues. If you want to future proof your network, this is a device that will hold you over until 10 GBE becomes the standard.

Just got it in the mail and unboxed it, first impressions is that it's not a flimsy light plastic device, it's heavy lol... all metal and solid. Will be hooking it up tomorrow so I'll add more but so far, from first looks, it's solid. It's more heavier than I expected for the size which is good, it shouldn't slide around on or off the desk ... I'm hooking up the latest QNAP TS-453BT3 4-Bay NAS Enclosure (has a 10gbe port) to one of the 10Gb ports, and the other to my main working computer. I got the ASUS 10Gb network pci-e card and Cat7 cables for transport between the two. Should be a good mix.

I was worry about price and performance. But once I set up completely, it runs like fly !!! So fast !!! My fastest ping was 13ms. Now is 6ms !!! 6ms is insane !!! and I was transferring videoes to my NAS like 14MB per sec which is so slow to move 100+ GB !! Right now it can reach the maximum transfer speed to my NAS !!! And all metal cover is a huge plus !!! Very good quality !! so I give this new 10Gb product A+++ rate !!! Also, it built in free customer chat service !! I had a question to ask about LAG configuration. I only wait about 1 minute at 3AM !!! and solve my question in 5 mines !!! I never experience such a good customer service !!! Hope my review can help you decide. Buy 10Gb one !!! Future prove !!!

I upgraded from a TrendNet gigabit switch which was performing okay but didn't have configurable device prioritization. Now that I'm using the Nighthawk SX10 I can really tell the difference, especially when the rest of the family is online. I no longer get warbly VOIP calls and when I really need the speed for my Xbox or PC gaming sessions, it's there with no lag. Thanks Netgear! Oh and the switch looks rad too! I like the color-programmable LED's for each port. :)

Upgraded our home network & this Nighthawk S8000 switch serves the audio/video room with smart TV, 2 gaming consoles, AV receiver, HiFi media player & cable/DVR box. Setup was a breeze with no problems.Great throughput performance with no thermal issues whatsoever. Not that it matters much to me, it's a really fun, modern & attractive design & blue lighting just happens to match some other components. I really appreciate Netgear's Nighthawk line (this is our 3rd product).
