After heating primarily with wood for 22 years, I finally got a digital moisture meter. What a great, simple tool! It's much quicker and more effective than the old tests for moisture (ie, look for checking at the end of the log, check for the sound the wood makes when hit). For less than $20, it's great to protect my chimney and stove against creosote from wet wood.

This meter is a must for anyone who burns wood for heat to find out if the wood is seasoned enough (below 20%). The cap is hard to get on and off, though. And watch out, the pins are SHARP. You need to use a bit of force to get the pins into drier logs, but the pins and meter are quite sturdy and can take some abuse.

This is an inexpensive meter that works nearly as well as units costing several times the price. I use it for wood turning. The readings have been consistent and the meter is very easy to use. I would recommend this meter to anyone using it for firewood or woodworking.

My husband needed a moisture meter to test his firewood. We were burning different types of wood and the wood was cut at different times. This little meter worked great and it helped him to organize where he stored his wood.

This tool has worked very well for me; Especially considering the price, and from a seller who actually cares about the customer like these folks do. (Kind of rare these days). I bought this quite a while ago, but to date, it still works as new. It lets you know if you are at > 10, 15, 20 percent or more on moisture. Very good things to know in woodworking. My brother also brought over a very expensive moisture tool for comparison. This tool was right on the money! The shipping was also incredibly fast. I had this tool in hand, in 2 days. I have no idea how that happened, but it did. The seller also checked in with me to see how all was going. Well, I am not only very happy with this tool, but I will be buying more from this seller.

We use wood heat exclusively. We cut dead trees for firewood and cut up downed trees to season for next winter. You get your wood mixed up and you end up with wet logs messing up a cheery fire. This is such a weird little gadget to use, but it works well. I thought my boyfriend was crazy when it came, but I'm using it to keep the fire going by testing the logs for moisture content before trying to light my fire in the mornings. It came fast, has the usual almost english instructions that work, and has 4 different settings for different wood hardness. We just use one setting and if it shows over 20, we set it beside the wood stove to dry out more. Saves some frustration, which is cool.

This is just like my older tester (different name). So easy to operate, seems to be accurate, takes the guesswork out of my firewood which I use about 5 cords a season. Anything under 20 is acceptable for my Hearthstone wood stove. The orange color is a bonus as I am always losing my old one....haven’t lost this one yet! Thank you for great product and great price!

Very easy to use and reproducible readouts. This settled an argument between me and my wife whether the wood we cut in the summer was dry enough to burn already. Domestic tranquility for 20 bucks.

This is a great tool that I used to identify moisture source in a bedroom I was concerned had a mold problem. The tool is easy to use, after adding the batteries you just press into wood and there you go. The meter is very easy to use and the readings assisted me in the detection of an area where moisture builds from outside which causes the smells inside my home. This meter is great to have in your toolbox for detecting leaks as well. Just select the appropriate wood source and test, test, test away.

Use when staining fences and decks for customers. Most finishes specify moisture content maximums, and most PT lumber is too wet immediately after construction.
