The neat little device that could 2 (see the fixed volume version for the first one)
I had just wrote up a review for the fixed volume version of this item, I am going to dub this one the variable volume version. I said everything I wanted to say in my previous one, but to summarize it all I'll highlight some key points I made in my first review located on the fixed volume version. A. I purchased these because the TV I got for my parents to replace the old one didn't have an AUX out, only optical, was annoying because the home theater system went unused. To make matters worse, the volume on the TV only went up to 100, and while that sounds like a lot, the TV was only just whispering some secrets. B. Through the many brands that more than likely come from the same build house available, this one was different, it has rounded edges and cost 2x as much C. Being very realistic, It will see a long life of collecting dust, and being largely forgotten about until the very last minute of that one show in which someone remembers because the other person complained how they couldn't hear the entire show, but it will sound wonderful for those last 30 to 45 seconds of show. D. Nobody asked for it, but i installed it anyway.

A great, sound-performance, enhancer
I was looking for an inexpensive DAC to use to bring out the absolute, best sound for both, my Sennheiser + Massdrop HD 58X Jubilee and Philip's SHP9500 headphones. I saw the reviews on this device and decided to give it a try. I cannot speak for connections to other devices. BUILD/DESIGN: The surrounding surface of the Neotek DAC Size B is made up of a durable, high-quality, aluminum-metal, shell. The front and back of the Neotek DAC is made up of the same material, except the aluminum-metal surface is brushed, aluminum-metal. TheIn addition, the DAC is heat-resistant. The interface is gold-plated, so the loss of signal transmission will be reduced. SETUP PS4/PS4 PRO: I cannot speak for connections to other devices. This is the setup for PS4 Pro and PS4 users. The setup to the PS4 or PS4 Pro is easy. First, connect the included, optical cable from the DAC to the optical cable port to the rear of the PS4 or PS4 Pro. Next, connect the included, USB cable from the DAC to the USB port in front of the PS4 or PS4 Pro. This is the power source for the DAC. Last, connect a 3.5mm cable of the headset to the headset port. That concludes the installation instructions. SOUND: Be warned! This, little device, packs a punch. VERY, ambient. With that being said, I had to turn the 9-level, volume knob to level 3, which is loud on its own. My 58X Jubilee and SHP9500 is superb, already. However, the addition of this DAC has made the headphones sound, unbelievably, phenomenal. More sounds are picked up, during gameplay, more than ever. VERDICT: This DAC has good quality and put out great sound. Not to mention, the DAC is versatile, which can be can be used for gaming, tv, CD, DVD, blu-ray, stereo, PC, etc. If you want to bring out the best sound with your devices, without breaking the bank, this is device is for you.

Good solution for using headphones on my TV
I had recently purchased a new smart TV and when I needed to use headphones, I had to stand on my head to plug the headphones into a headphone jack that was hidden below the coaxial antenna connection. After use I had to reach back and unplug the headphones to use the TV speakers. With the Neoteck 192KHz DAC Converter, I just hit the mute on the TV (Roku) remote and can listen to the headphones that are plugged into the converter. The converter has both the RCA connection and a 3.5 mm plug that are both active. Installation was straight forward. The only downside is that the optical cable and USB cable packed with the converter is too short and feels flimsy. I ordered a six foot optical cable from Amazon with the device and used a longer USB cable I already had here which allowed me to place the converter and my wireless headphones where I want them.

Headphone output for a Samsung TV
This little unit is a perfect addition to my Samsung UHD TV (which I also use as a computer monitor). The TV doesn't have a headphone jack, but does have an optical audio out connection, which connected to the Neoteck just fine (with the supplied fiber optic cable). It took me a moment to reconfigure the TV to PCM output (versus Bitstream) but once I did the unit worked great with my headphones. It's solidly made, with a metal case, and a very smooth operating volume control. And it provides plenty of volume for our Sony headphones.

Great as a noise-free signal-source with wireless headphones.
Sweet little rig that just wanted to work right out of the box (a rare thing). Application: I use this Neotic DAC (Digital/Analog Converter) to take in digital (optical) audio source (via optical cable output of a TV set) and provide Analog signal (via RCA Pin Plugs) to a pair of SONY Wireless Headphones. Why? Because the Headphones provide both private listening and ambient noise reduction (passive) in a public environment. The included optical cable was a little short for my preference but it served the purpose OK. The metal case adds a sturdy-feeling, and enough heft to keep it from being "owned" by the wires & cables attached to it. Had to buy this because the external audio output of Mom's TV was dead. Took a chance that the digital (optical) audio out would still work. It did! Using the RCA pin plug outputs to drive a set of Sony wireless headphones: Sony MDRRF985RK Wireless RF (Radio Frequency) Headphone with Transmitter Base Station + Stereo Connecting Cable + AC adaptor + HeroFiber Ultra Gentle Cleaning Cloth Haven't used the volume knob on the DAC yet (instructions say it works on the 3.5mm audio output jack) but it may be a good thing to have in reserve one day. Discovered the USB port on the TV was dead (no voltage so no power) so I repurposed one of my old cell phone power supplies to provide 5v power to the DAC.

Most Excellent :-)
A while back I connected my ampilfied JBL speakers to my Vizio TV analog audio outputs. This worked, but was low on volume and had an annoying 60Hz buzz in the background. I bought this converter to solve both these problems. And boy did it work great! The buzz is gone and the volume level can be set to super loud. I am really impressed with the top quality engineering put into this product. The supplied optical cable and USB cable were of very good quality. The converter is powered by the USB port on my TV. Nice! The only disappointment is that I discovered my Vizio TV remote doesn't control the volume of it's optical audio output port. Good thing the converter has a volume knob to set the level.

Works with both 3.5mm and RCA connections at the same time with fine quality and volume.
I got a new 4K TV which had no Audio Out except Digital Optical. I wanted TV audio sent to my old Yamaha Stereo Amplifier system and also to my wireless headphone system.. After some research I ordered this unit with volume control. I was uncertain how to get audio to both my RCA plugs on the amplifier and to the 3.5mm input to my wireless headphone transmitter. I was very pleased when I tried this product using both the RCA output to my amp and the 3.5mm to my headphones at the same time and it worked fine. Some said the output would be weaker if both used, but I heard no degradation when I added the second output to the system. The volume control allowed me to set the stereo volume to the same point that I would use for the CD or tuner. I used the USB power to my TV, so it only powers up when the TV is on.

Get the one with the volume control on the DAC. I watch movies on my TV with headphones on while my kids sleep.
I wanted to enjoy movie while my kids slept in the other room without sacrificing the volume level. I immediately thought headphones but using them on a Samsung LED TV turned out more difficult than envisioned. One can't just plug in the headphones or use traditional AV jack converters. The problem with modern television is the digital output. Traditional headphones are analog. This is where this digital to analog converter comes in. And glad to report that it works well. Do not forget to get the one with the volume control ON the converter. Volume control in the TV will not adjust volume on the DAC. That is, the digital output is constant and has no control. The DAC needs to do it. Other than this minor inconvenience, I can finally enjoy a movie in its full glory without waking up my kiddies or purchasing an expensive an Bluetooth headphones or a stereo system.

It works!
Works as advertised. I just replaced a 20 year-old Samsung TX-R2735 TV, pretty much analog everything, with a new Roku Smart TV. I used to run audio from the old TV though an even older and thoroughly analog Optimus STAV-3100 receiver amplifier. Didn't use it all the time because the sound from the Samsung TV was for the most part pretty robust. However, the overall sound quality from the new Roku Smart TV while pretty good, is not nearly so robust as the old Samsung. I wanted to boost its sound quality. Needed a way to convert the Roku's optical digital sound output into a analog signal that could be piped through the Optimus AMP which of course has no optical/digital sound input capability. Received my Neoteck DAC Coverter today and within just a couple of minutes had it up and running. Everything is sounding wonderful.

Small and well build. Will not dissapoint
After getting a Sound Bar, I lost the use of my old Subwoofer (RCA Inputs). With the aid of another product (Fiber Optic Splitter : Digital Optical Fiber Splitter 1 in 2 Out Optic Audio Splitter Fiber Optical Cable Splitter ) I was able to use this DAC Converter to bring my old Subwoofer to life and I LOVE IT!!. The DAC Converter is solid comes with power cable (USB) and short Fiber Optic cable. So far that cable is also doing a fine job on my setup. The DAC must be doing something extra because I haven't heard my old sub sound so nice.. Will most definitely buy again if need be and I would recommend to anyone in need of a good digital to analog Converter with extra DAC features.
