My wife has wanted to get a vacuum sealer at Costco and they are expensive. This is a great starter kit to try this out and very affordable as well.

**Update - this still works just as well as the day I bought it now in November 2018. I frequently use it to package fresh meat that I buy when it goes on sale. I've never, ever had a bag lose its seal - not even one! 100% satisfied** I bought this to replace a cheap Aldi brand sealer that quit working after about 10 uses. What a difference! Excellent suction without being too loud or difficult to use. Worked the first time right out of the box, and haven't had a problem yet. I will update after more uses and after I've tried a wider variety of items .

I'm so pleased with this food vacuum sealer. Our other food sealer broke but I hated that thing (obviously different brand). It was bulky, loud, and difficult to use. This nutrichef pkvs18 is slim, sleek, and easy to use. No more multiple times just trying to get a bag to seal. It worked flawlessly and I really put it through it's paces right out of the box with having to package about 60lbs of meat. Thank you for making such a great product.

Wow! I’ve never owned one of these and was weary of purchasing one. I did a lot of research and saw online video reviews and this one caught my attention for the price and sleek look. Eventually I made my purchase, it arrived nicely packaged and it’s online looks did not disappoint. It looks nice and sleek on my counter top and is super lightweight (something I did not expect). The instructions were so easy to read and it was a simple plug and start. The first thing I did was salmon, it vacuumed it and sealed it beautifully. I will freeze some and make some at the end of the week and post an update to see how the salmon held up. I was able to do 5 packages without any issues. The buttons are sensitive and I did hit it by accident when trying to close it so just be mindful of your fingers, aside from that I had zero issues.

I love this product and hardly see any cons in it so far. I get a lot of vegetables as part of farm sharing in my area. During winter, it is especially difficult to keep them fresh and they take a LOT of space in the fridge. I have been looking for a vacuum sealer and finally decided on this model based on reviews and reasonable price. Pros: It is extremely easy to use. I will say that I had to look up a video on YouTube before I started using this sealer as the manual was not 100% clear to me. It took me 2 minutes to learn to use it though. I did not have any issues with sealing the bags - just leave enough room in it and make sure you hear the locking mechanism click on both sides. It is all intuitive really. This vacuum sealer comes with a roll of bags and several pre-cut ones. Note: I used them up the first night. So if you plan on sealing a lot, get extra rolls. It looks great and should fit any kitchen. It’s also easy to store once you are done. Cons (there are not a lot, mostly things I noted during use): You will have to buy extra vacuum seal bags. I personally think that the benefit outweighs extra cost, but be prepared. You cannot use zip lock bags. I tried out of curiosity. It seals them and sucks some air out, but nowhere near enough to store for a long time. Plus, I would assume it would melt cheaper bags - I had heavy duty ones and I only tried with one to see what happens. The manual is not very clear to me. Look up a video or review on YouTube. I found them very useful. Make sure you wait until the machine stops working before opening it: if you vacuum seal, the Vac/Seal button will deillimunate, then the Seal button. I didn’t wait for the seal button first several times and had to re-do those bags.

I have no basis for comparison, but I received my vacuum sealer today and am more than impressed. I had a bunch of venison slim Jim's and jerky to seal and freeze and used up all the included bags and rolled plastic. The process is easy and fast, and it is very obvious if the seal hadn't formed. You need to give the sealer 40 seconds in between seals, which isn't an issue considering you have to load the bags. I wanted a sealer primarily for cooking sous vide, and I didn't want to spend a ton or waste a ton of space on a giant one. This little guy is great. It reminds me of the size of the shredder part of a paper shredder. Easy to carry up from the basement storage and easy to set up. I'm not sure why anyone would pay any more for a sealer than this? This does everything I need it to do.

I've always wanted one and this exeeded expectations. I was under the impression, from the images, that it had buttons. To my surprise, the buttons are just as touch sensitive as the Google keyboard I'm using on my phone to write this review. I've always been curious about how these devices worked. There is a small learning curve of about 3 attempts, but that's just to get an idea of how much of a gap you need between the item in the bag and the end of the bag. The instructions are straight-forward but do omit that you need about an inch or so of a gap. Last thing you want to do is put items in the bag and it ends up not being enough space. But that just takes 1 failure to perfect sealing. One last more than Worthy of mentioning item is that is does have a few combinations of types of items being put in so that's good, but there's also two options on sealing. There's "Seal" & "Vac Seal" Seal is for sealing without the need to vacuum (cut a piece off the roll and need to seal one side before sealing the opposite side, in which would then vac seal) And Vac Seal is the combination of vacuuming and then sealing. The key note for Vac Seal is that it will make the vacuuming sound, and then silently seal (all sealing is slient). So, after the vacuuming sound stops, pay attention to seal button to turn off. I prematurely open it before realizing that the sealing happens after the vacuuming sound and not during. That may be somewhere in the instructions, but I'm that dude lol

this is my first vacuum sealer so, since I don't have any other previous experience with other brands and models, I could be a bit biased. First of all, the product arrived in a very well protected package so there was no damage to it. Once I took it out of the box, I was anxious to try it so I had a few pieces of bacon (old style) that I wanted to seal for summer and this machine worked as a charm, there is no learning curve with it, its literally plug and play product. when you use it the right way (fit the bag into the vacuum very well, not sloppy) it will vacuum and seal in under 30 seconds. Only when you don't fit properly the bag or you tough the digital control pad on top you could get a bag that doesn't vacuum properly. it comes with 5 bags and a roll of bags for custom length items you need saving.

This purchase makes my second vacuum sealer, and there is a world of difference between the two. Both are simular small models, but the old one filled me with anxiety when I would use it because of several issues. The Nutrichef is what a vaccuum sealer should be. My number one releaf came when I opened it. The Nutrichef is easy to open with the release buttons on each side, whereas the old one requiring me to push down hard on each side, (usually several hard pushes were required to get it to unlock). It does take a bit of pressure to close, about equal to my old one. My old one was very difficult to get it to create the vacuum. It would take many repositionings to create the vaccuum. On my first attempt with the Nutrichef, I saw the bag collapse around my food as the air was expelled - and then it sealed. Then on each of the next 23 packages of food I made, I had no issues! The size of the Nutrichef is compact it fits in my cabinet without making new wonder "is it worth the lost space? " I have not used the extras that came with it. The cork for wine bottles looks really good, and I am sure it will do the job. I don't own a vacuum container, so I can't comment on that. I am very happy I ordered the PYLE NUTRICHEF VACUUM SEALER. I can't imagine you will not be pleased. It is a great value, especially for the price.

I hunted for a while to find a reasonably priced tool for this job. Compared to the others I have seen, the Nutrichef is: • Small (about the size of a dozen eggs) • Lightweight • Straightforward • Inexpensive • Economical (uses generic bag material) In the 48 hours I've owned it. I've packaged up perhaps a dozen food items. The seals all appear to be holding. I purchased bag material in bulk from Amazon for about 16c/foot (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCZMQUU/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1), which means the bags cost 10c or so. This is less than a third of the price of FoodSaver bags, and one-fifth of the price of the Waring bags. The only things that kept me from a FIVE star rating are: 1. It can be tricky to get the bags in the right position. If you do not, they will not seal properly. I attached a photo showing a setup that works for me. The end of the bag must be about halfway in to the "Vacuum Chamber". 2. The instructions are not clear, perhaps because they weren't written by an English speaker. Some drawings to show where to place the bags would have been very helpful. 3. Once closed and sealed, the bags can take up a lot of space in the freezer, because at least 1-1/2" of extra material is needed at the closure end, making them bulky. 4. Making each bag by sealing each end takes close to two minutes, so the process can get slow. It would be very simple to design a unit that aligns the bag material properly and semi-automatically, which would make the whole process much faster (Nutirchef: Are you listening? I can help you with this). Time will tell about how well these work at food preservation, and how long the unit lasts. I will post an update later. ======== UPDATED 3/28/18 ========== I do write a lot of reviews, but they usually are very sober. However, this item is terrific. I am single, and I often have trouble buying things in reasonable sizes, so I buy extra, and freeze it. I figured that the NutriChef would reduce freezer burn and keep things longer. It does, but... Since buying the sealer, I have found a lot of extra uses. Sous vide cooking is incredibly good. Simply take a skinless chicken breast, heat it, in the bag, to 160° for 40 minutes or so, and you produce the juiciest ever meat for things like chicken salad. Salmon burgers are very delicate objects, yet I found that I could vacuum seal them without excessively flattening them. Again, sous vide to the desired temperature, then an fry at high heat to sear. I freeze them, also, and can transport them to my girlfriend's house (she loves them...) Butchers dry age meat at about 35° for weeks. Mine literally raises the price 3-fold for the aging. Do this in your fridge, and you are likely to simply have spoiled meat. However, in a vacuum-sealed bag, you can enjoy the benefits of aging without the fear of spoilage. Tonight, I made up a nice 2 pound batch of mashed gingered carrots, and a large quantity of caramelized onions. These jobs take a long time to cook. Even though both of them had a lot of residual liquid, the NutriChef sealed them right up, allowing me to prepare serving sized bags for the next time. FYI: the pureed carrots can be reconstituted with water and pureed into a delicious soup. I'm really surprised how much I like this thing. I raised my rating from four stars to five.
