Biometric safes have not been reliable for me. So, I decided to try the Hornady 2700KP quick access gun safe. What an excellent product. Easy to setup and program. Love the streamline look of the 2700KP sitting on my night stand and it looks more like a piece of tech equipment than a gun safe. Love that it's AC powered 24/7 with a 4-AA battery backup. Both my wife and I wear the RFID brackets, which work great and are reliable, along with the 4-6 digit key code. Size wise a Ruger GP100 4" barrel fits perfect and there's room enough to hold two pistols, or extra magazines or in my case a flash light. After many missed on quick access night stand gun safes the 2700KP is perfect for me. And, the RFiD gives a more reliable sense over biometrics. Highly recommend!

Not sure why this thing is getting negative reviews. I got it installed into my 2012 maxima and it works perfectly. I bought it solely for the purpose of keeping my kids away from my gun, and I couldn’t be happier. This is the 3rd “vehicle safe” that I tried and it’s a winner. The others were so bulky and took up so much room, I could have just bought a regular safe and put it in the back seat. This one fits just as it should, doesn’t rattle, was fairly easy to install, and best of all, gives me quick access to my weapon, should I need it. The others would have me getting out of my car and going into the back seat to have access, which is the opposite of “ideal”. The guys at Hornady have done a great job. I would defiantly purchase again.

Great safe for anywhere but I use it in the car the most. Cable is long enough to slide in and out of the seat but not to long where it gets in the way. Can fit a full size VP9 in it no problem but not much more. I can also fit my PPS in it with BlackArch Holster no problem. Solid construction, quick opening, 2 RFID stickers, keychain, and wrist bracelet come with it. Great solid on the go safe.

Works as advertised, every time! The response to RFID tag is super fast; by far my favorite aspect of this safe. Setup was easy and fast, except the wrist band which kicked my butt for a bit until I figured where the sensor was located. I have it located by the bedside, and it is cabled/locked to the bed frame. No fumbling with codes or finger readers in the middle of the night. Just activate it with a conveniently (but not obvious) located item with the RFID stuck on it and it pops open in a split second. Use to leave the handgun on the night stand but more than once forgot to put it back in my other safe while gone. Now I don't have to worry about that. AC powered with battery backup is a great design too.

Love this thing: 1) Tremendous packaging. Useful information and well protected. 2) Easy to program and open, yet seems very securely built. 3) Ability to mount in vehicle with air bladder or bolt to console (or even wall, night stand, desk, etc) gives great flexibility. 4) Love that I can pair my RFID devices together with my other Rapid Safe. 5) ASTM and CADOJ Approved which seems like not a lot of other devices are. Comforting.

Love this car gun locker. I did however make some minor changes to the install....I added some velcro to the product to keep it from vibrating against my car consul

I have to give the Hornady gun safe a good review. I saw some negative reviews and I didn’t agree. The safe can alternately be mounted mor securely with careful measuring, and drilling. Not bad. It’s is very secure as is. The provided cable should secure it nicely. As the saying goes “ locks only keep hones people honest”. I agree. As an added bonus, the safe also assures that children or unauthorized people cannot access your handgun when around your vehicle. The size is quite sufficient for a large frame handgun. The exception would be a long barreled handgun.

Very well designed product. My Sig 1911 commander model is slightly over 7 3/4" but I took the chance that I could fit it in diagonally. I was pleasantly surprised that the actual internal width is 8" and not the 7.70" in the product description. My handgun fits without having to be on a diagonal along with two spare mags. The internal shape is not a pure rectangle, see pic, so the 8" width is there where you need it and it tapers to 7.5" at the front to the safe. There are also two "posts" that engage the stop catches of the lid and the dimension between them is 7 3/8". They are in a location that does not interfere with the placement of my handgun. Programming the RFID actuators was simple and straight forward. I applied one of the stickers to the back of my cell phone and determined that it will work through the phone's protective case. I originally placed the sticker in the middle of the phone but decided to relocate it closer to the top. I was able to carefully remove it using a spatula to lift one edge. The adhesive stayed on the sticker so it was successfully relocated without being destroyed. I'm not sure if removal would be possible after being applied long term. I leave the safe plugged into AC power and found out that if the power goes out, you must press one of the buttons to reactivate the RFID reader. It will then remain active until the AC power is removed. The instructions tell you that this is necessary every time if operating on batteries only but there is no mention of it being necessary after a power outage. If the led indicator is not on and green then the safe will not open with an rfid device. I'm very happy with this safe and highly recommend it. My only suggestions for improvement would be: 1) If the AC power goes out the rfid reader should automatically become active when power is restored. 2) There should be a detent to hold the cable in place while the safe is in the open position.

This sis a must have item if you have firearms and children in the home. This is a very secure safe, opens via combination, RFID or by key. It holds a full size handgun with a light attached and a spare mag or 2. It opens very quickly and silently. Easily programmable and I highly recommend this product!!!
