My grandchildren were probably a little young for this (3 amd 5) so they're not getting a lot of use out of them, but mommy and daddy love using them in their 2 story house. Range is great and no static.

They work great. I bought them for my 5 year old granddaughter's birthday. She was able to play with them right away with her 7 year old sister. They took a walk around a lake (with their parents), each going in the opposite direction and were able to talk the entire time. They also worked great when they were in different rooms or on different floors of their house. They are small enough for little girls hands, easy to use, and even the flashlight worked great. I highly recommend them.

As a radio enthusiast, I would have gladly bought my 6 y/o nephew a pair of "real" FRS radios for about the same cost, but I was concerned he might accidentally switch channels or have other trouble, and that wouldn't be much fun. This radio is a good mix of features for a kid: - small size, looks cool/real - flashlight (not super functional, but fun) - doesn't stay on, just on while you hold the button - can change channels, but not too many confusing options, and not complicated to change them - has privacy code - pre-set, not configurable - fun little "roger beep" when you stop transmitting - compatible with full featured FRS radios - for mom and dad. If you want to use them with a real FRS radio, the channels are numbered oddly: Little Pretenders 1 = FRS 1, privacy code 4 (77hz) Little Pretenders 2 = FRS 3, privacy code 4 (77hz) Little Pretenders 3 = FRS 6, privacy code 4 (77hz) It's nice that there's a privacy code set on these radios - so they won't pick up random chatter from other people on the same channel. BUT it's not truly private - other people can still hear you - so make sure to tell your kids: - not to talk to strangers - not to use their full name - not to use their address, phone number, etc Forget 2 miles - they should have a real world range of about 0.5 mile. Since a lot of FRS users will be on the default channel 1, using channel 3 on these radios may be a bit better.

My 6 year old can communicate with his best friend who lives a block away, clearly. (This item was cheaper than a cell phone which he wanted to communicate with his little buddy) They both enjoy their walkie talkies. They even use them to play hide and seek!

Pro's. I liked the signal tone squelch code. and the three channel operation which is easy to make sure both units are on the same frequency/Channel. Flash light is nice feature with push button operation So kids cant leave the light on and run down the battery. small size ideal for child's hand. Cons. Battery door screw needs a keeper washer to keep it from being lost when changing batteries. No volume control. three step level would be nice. Volume level while adequate for quiet locations is not loud enough if operating in a nosy area. Plastic belt clip breaks off easily. metal clips would be better. Assortment of colors would be better than just bright blue. The name Little Pretender is a little Hokey. another name might be better. "Small Talk" " Radio One" perhaps include a set of decal overlays So user can make it special or leave it as little pretender.

My 5 and 6 year olds LOVE these. Really easy to figure out how to use. They have been using them constantly. Sound is clear when they remember to get the lips off the mic, and the clarity of sound holds up even with distance. The size is just right for little hands. It's kind of amazing to me how well they work. I'd recommend for grown-ups, too. High quality product, very affordable. A great buy.

Kids ages 6 & 8 who received them as gifts loved them! Easy to use and batteries (not provided) are lasting well. The tone before calling and the flashlights and the smaller size make these great for kids play

Great, simple to use, durable, good distance. We use them around the house but also when we go out to the super market, beach, etc. Really wonderful and great price. Only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make it so that call button (the music note sign) works if the talkie talkies are off so you can call someone and then have them turn on and talk. Otherwise love these and bought for a friend and her daughters too!

I'm so happy with this! My son is 4 and my daughter is 2 and they love being in different rooms and talking to each other. I've also had my son keep one attached to him and I keep the other one so I can always keep track of him when he's in a different room. My son has always wanted one and I'm so happy I got this one for him! He absolutely loves it!!
