Very effective. Easy to set up. I filled the well with chocolate syrup. The rat never stood a chance. Disposal of the rat was the best part. Just press the clamp and the dead rat falls out. No need to touch the carcass. When you press down on the clamp, that opens up the business end of the trap. Inside is a thin, flexible platform with a hole in it the same size as the bait well that sits under the platform. When the rat tries to get the bait, it presses on the platform and...BAM....another dead rat. Well is removed from underneath the trap. So, you can bait it and screw the well back in and take the baited trap to the area you want to place it, then press the clamp down. Your trap is baited, set and ready for the next varmint.

I live in Massachusetts and this year our yard has been infested with chipmunks. There are usually 8 or so visible running around the yard at any given time. They have created lots of tunnels and holes in our lawn and have eaten the roots of many decorative plants. It's as though they have no natural enemies to keep them at bay and are multiplying like crazy. I tried the "walk the plank" style traps and caught one in a week (and two unintended mice). So finally I decided that I needed to take strong measures and bought these traps. I have already caught and killed 7 chipmunks in a day and a half. I wish I didn't have to kill them but nothing else was working.

After our rat(s) ate three differents types of bait (peanuts, shelled peanuts, peanut butter) from two different Tom Cat wooden traps without snapping them, I decided to try these. Not only are they much easier to handle than the wooden traps, but we caught two rats in the first two days, just putting out one trap a day. They're also incredibly easy to bait and to set (and even to clean up, especially if you don't care about reusing the trap, since the rat's head remains inside the trap enclosure). If it's possible to love a rat trap, count me in.

I set 4 of these traps in the attic and with in 6 hours i heard it trigger 2 of the traps. The next day we checked and it caught 4 rats...so far it's 4 for 4. i'm gonna prep the last two traps and see if i can get 6 for 6. Traps are super easy to set and prep with peanut butter. It does have a hair trigger so be careful when testing them or just messing around. I think the kill was instant and there was no blood anywhere so for all of you PETA concerned consumers out there just know it was instant. I like that you can just dump the body and reset the trap with ease so you can kill more of these pest. The plastic is strong and the unit it self is well made. I have no issues with quality and after using it for 1 day i know this product works.

In 5 days my rat zapper I bought has zero kills. In 1 night these have 3. I put peanut butter in 3 of them, banana in 2 and papaya in 1. I noticed they were able to pull the papaya out w/o setting off the trap bc it was easy to take. Almost got away w it with the banana but not quite. If you use the peanut butter like they suggest its harder to get out and they won't stand a chance. Clean kill. Have a cpl stray cats outside and I gave them the rats and it looked like the best moment of their lives.

I came back from a trip to find rats had crawled up my dryer vent (makes sense, warm tunnel during cold wet weather), chewed through the dryer hose, and were making a nasty mess in my utility room! Ordered these traps, baited with peanut butter and caught two culprits within 2 hours! I heard a little noise, but the rats were soon dead, as the jaws of the trap close very tightly. Was able to dispose of the rats without touching them. I don't like killing stuff, but rats inside the laundry room is a no-go. These traps are taking care of the problem quickly and decisively. They are easy to bait and set, (and I had no fear of accidentally setting it off on my fingers.) I ordered this set of six and put more than one in a row, to catch them as they go by. I think you definitely will have more success with more than one trap. (These are bigger for rats, but I think would work fine for mice also.)

I love these traps - These things are really slick. I especially like the way the bait is placed and while I don't recommend it, I have actually replaced the bait with the trap set. The reason is because the bait is placed through a hole on the bottom and then locked in. Fantastic idea I have caught 3 so far and NONE with the electronic zapper even though I did get a mouse in that and it's a good idea also but for the price difference -these are the way to go. Heck, I have even been giving them to my neighbors they are so effective and cheap. That way I won't get any of their rats back over at my place. For the price and the way they work - you cannot go wrong.

You see it all started one night at 3am when I woke up feeling thirsty. I went out to my garage fridge to get a glass of milk (it stays colder in that fridge, long story) and of course I assumed that I'd be able to fall right back to sleep because I wouldn't be alarmed by two rats the size of my small dog wrestling on one of the tool shelves. But you know what they say about assuming.... it makes an ass out of those damn rodents in my garage. I remember when I was little, sometimes my male and female rabbit would get out at the same time and start rolling around together. My dad would tell me not to let them do that, and to only take them out separately. "But why dad?" I said.....and after some mumbling under his breath and a couple of "well...uhhh....ummmm..."s he told me that they were "fighting". So I knew once I saw these two rats "fighting", it would end with the same result- only they wouldn't be adorable fluffy baby bunnies. It was time to take some action. Plan A- buy traps. Plan B- move far, far away. With a little leftover bacon grease in the handy cup that goes in the bottom (no worring about snapping your fingers like those classic wooden traps!), I caught 3 rats within the first two days. And these weren't regular rats- these were Florida mutant-sized rats. I grew up in Detroit attending Eastern market several times a year; so needless to say, Jurassic-sized rats normally don't phase me. But wow. These things were huge. I'm still not convinced they weren't labradors in rat costumes, but I didn't get that good of a look- which is another bonus of these traps. Anyway, the traps were still right where I had placed them, so it's good to know that whatever they were, they died instantly. I continued to reset the traps and got a rat every night until finally....none. Now I can feel confident getting milk at 3am without the fear of interrupting any rat love-making sessions. Great customer service, too. A couple of the traps in the first batch I recieved wouldn't set, even on the first try. So I sent the company an email and they sent me a new set of traps right away.

Rats are wary and though I can see as many as 3 frolicking at a time they are not bold enough to take the bait. I think this trap would work as well as any other if rats were dumber. I had 7 traps out over 2 nights baited with peanut butter, but they'd rather go elsewhere. I saw them walk around the traps, paying them no mind. I'll update if I catch any. Update: went 6 for 6 last night! They were all younger rats, but that's still got me wishing I had bought another couple of 6-packs! What made a difference was leaving the traps out unset for a couple of nights with a little chicken feed sprinkled on and around. They have been raiding the chicken feed and gotten used to it. Leaving them out and harmless for a couple of nights gave them a chance to get comfortable with the new objects and the feed gave them a reason to. I also placed them right by their holes so they had every chance to get tempted as they came and went. Like a slot machine at the Vegas airport terminal: give them one last chance to make a dumb decision.

I've been using these for a few days and have caught seven rats so far and a mouse. These rodent traps are extremely good at catching rats -- I've never had a rat trap go off without catching a rat. This is important because you don't want the rats to get trap-shy.

I'm not convinced that the traditional type of snap trap is any better. In other respects, these traps have it all over the traditional wooden traps. They are very easy to set and never go off by accident while you're placing the traps. The bait cup is cleverly designed and well-positioned. Not only have I never had a trap go off without catching a rat, but I've also never had bait stolen.

I get the impression that trap positioning has a lot to do with the way the rat ends up getting caught. With traditional trap positioning along walls, I don't think the rat is necessarily even after the bait in many cases -- it just happens to blunder into the trap as it's going about its business. Anyways these Rat Traps work for me.
