Sometimes keeping the peace in a household with both cats and dogs can be frustrating and a challenge. Door Buddy provides an easier and less cumbersome way to give cats a space of their own.

We just adopted a 1 y/o puppy, and I wanted to keep a safe space in the house for our 2 cats who I knew would take a while to warm up to the idea of a dog in the house. Also, wanted to keep the dog away from the cats food/water and litter. I was originally looking at cat doors to put on the door to the basement, but as soon as I saw this, I knew it would be a great alternative to cutting holes in our doors. The rope chain keeps the door from from opening wide enough for the dog to get through, and the bumper guard keeps the door from closing shut and locking the cats down/upstairs. I now just purchased two more to keep our little chewer out of the bedrooms so he is always within eyesight and can't get into any trouble!

This works like a charm! We initially bought one to install on our basement door in the kitchen to prevent our newly adopted 6-month old pup from discovering the gold mine to dogs in the basement (cat's litter box). We adjusted the fit to allow our 15lb Maine Coon enough room to comfortably step through, yet prevent the pup from entering full body. The sturdy door stop that attaches to the door frame prevents the door from completely closing on any hands, heads, or paws, and ensures that the cat won't get stuck in the basement or prevented from entering the basement to do her business. We ordered this at the end of January 2018, and I'm just writing a review now, 6 months later. It works really well for the purpose we need it for, and I haven't had any issue with the 3M backing coming off, even when we sometimes forget it's latched and attempt to pull the door open. We liked it so much that we bought a second one for the spare bedroom the cat likes to hang out in, particularly in the early stages of cat-dog introductions. This allowed her to have a comfortable space that the dog couldn't access. It sure beats cutting a hole in your door and teaching a cat how to use a cat door. Our cat particularly likes to hang out behind the basement door on the landing in the kitchen, and wait for the dog to walk by so she can pop out at him like a jack-in-the-box. We like to call it her murder hole :) TLDR version: Buy this product instead of cutting a hole in your door if you use it for cats, or buy this product if you want to prevent small kids from entering places they shouldn't. You won't be disappointed.

I'm so happy I found these!!!! I bought 2 for my house hold. One is for the cat box and his food in our downstairs closet. I was worried about my and my mom's dog getting into there and eating his food and some kitty almond rocas (lol). My cat is a BIG cat too... not fat, but just big in general. He was easily able to slip in and out the door on the tightest/smallest fitting of the latch. I also got one for our bedroom door. My husband and I live with my mother but we have to leave the door open at night to give our cat and dog free access in and out. They would keep opening the door wide either entering or leaving. This was an awesome fix to allow them to come and go, and for us to still have our privacy. Not having to get out of the bed to close the door is AWESOME! Great product. definitely, recommend.

I was looking for a baby gate with a pet door to keep the dog out of the litter box. Didn't really want to,baby gates are so expensive and cumbersome. While browsing I game across this device. It has worked like a dream. Very easy to get in and out of the cats room. Our dog is very stubborn and is not a follower of rules. He has not tried to get through this once. Very easy to put on. It's adjustable so you can make the gap as wide as you like. I highly recommend and I'm not a paid review. Used my own hard earned dollars.

Boy, was this the perfect solution to a situation in our house. We invited our son and daughter-in-law to live in our basement for six weeks while they were between apartment leases. They have a dog and two cats that semi-get along, but we wanted the cats to be able to come and go from the basement to get away from the dog when they wanted, while keeping the dog downstairs unless we chose to let him into the main part of the house. We easily installed the Door Buddy Door Latch, which allows the door to remain open just enough for the cats to go through, while the dog can only stick his nose through the opening. He is a pretty big dog, but can not push through the latched door. And the foam stopper prevents the door from closing accidentally. All pets learned very quickly what they could and could not do with the door, and we people can easily unlatch the door from either side when we want to go through the door. A perfect product!

We got a new rescue dog and she decided she likes cat food and cat poo. We also like having a space the cats can go that the dogs can't invade. My husband is in a wheelchair so a gate makes it difficult, didn't really want to have to cut another pet door in so we figured this was a good shot. Great price so not alot of risk in it. I would advise you get the one with the door bumper(stop) on it so the door won't get shut trapping the cats in the room. You can easily adjust the width of the band for your pets. Working great, very happy with this.

This thing is great. We use it to keep the dogs (65lb and 75lb)in the room and also allow the cats to come and go freely. The dogs can't fit through the small opening. The strap is adjustable. The door doughnut works well to ensure the door doesn't close. The adhesive is also very good. No trouble with anything

I purchased this product for a different reason then to keep a dog out. We recently found a female kitten in our front yard, but we already have to adult cats of our own, 1 male & 1 female. Our male cat loves the kitten and plays so happily with her, but our female cat....well she's not a fan of her at all and continues to try and attack her. We have been trying everything with our cat to try and work with them getting along, but in the meantime we have to keep the kitten in our spare room. Its a nice size room with plenty of cat things in there however we wanted to continue trying to allow our female adult cat to get use to the kitten by seeing and smelling her scent and that is when I saw this product. When dealing with a small kitten you have to make sure the opening isn't that big not to mention keep it closed enough that your adult cat cannot push through and possibly attack. As you can see we did things a little differently from the instructions. First we had to tighten the strap and then placed a zip tie on so it would not possibly loosen up. Next we placed the lock latch part on the outside door frame and then placed the actual strap attachment to the backside of the bedroom door and this works perfect. We had to do this in order to make the opening smaller as it would have still been to large had we placed it on the front of the door even with the strap as small as it can go. The only possible hiccup with this is if you want the door closed the strap can get caught, but then we just clip it on where the zip tie is located and everything is good. Now because we needed the opening to be smaller we are unable to use the white door stop piece that wraps on the door, however there was a simple fix to that, we just placed a door stop under the door on the outside allowing it to not be shut accidentally. I am very impressed by this product and believe it works just as it's advertised to work, we just thought outside the box for our needs. This is a product I would recommend to others. And for those thinking what a poor kitty to be in a room all day, please know we do daily site swapping so the kitty can run around the house and play. She also has lots of play time in the room with our male adult cat, he's so gentle with her like a daddy.

What a great idea! Installation was super easy, and this set solves several problems: (1) it keeps the dogs out of but lets the cats into a certain room, like where their food or litter boxes are; (2) the easily removed or repositioned bumper keeps a door that needs to stay open from accidentally getting closed; and in most cases, the Door Buddy eliminates the need for a pet gate or fence. After reading some reviews by people who were not happy with the product, I should mention that it works for me because my dogs are non-confrontational 20-lb. shiba inus. Dogs who are big, strong, rambunctious or just plain determined probably need more robust restraints.

Door latch and door stop reviewed separately Door latch: This thing is awesome! I've had problems with privacy while still letting my cat come and go from the room. This makes it easy to control how much the door opens. We actually put japanese door curtains over doorways too and when paired with the door latch it's practically closed to everyone but the cat! VERY STURDY. I have multiple times in the middle of the night yanked way too hard and it's stayed put for months now. It's so easy to latch I do it automatically at this point (provided it was level when you install it. Door stop: This is nice. It works well. But... it's very hard to justify the price of this one with the door stop and the latch. The door stop is a good foam door stop and is quick and easy to put on and off as needed, but you can find other ways to do the same thing. If you want the convince then go for it, but if you want to save a little money you can get a regular doorstop or foam noodle. We use the door stop in one door and a blanket or towel to stop the door over the other. The foam one looks better, but we already had the blanket. So it's just a money issue.
