Excellent gauge. Feels very solid, well built. The plunger mechanism is very smooth and responsive, extremely tight tolerances and repeatability. Digital display is very sharp, easy to read and super responsive. For the money this is one of the better gauges I have used. The only minor criticism I have is that you can not store the gauge in the included case with the lug back attached, you have to either store the gauge outside of the plastic case or swap the back every time you want to put it away.

Using for testing of several different things and it works great. Plugged in the data cable to the computer USB, opened Excel pressed the button and data is there. Going to order 2 more to do triple measurements of deflection. Will make a small fixture to press all 3 buttons at once. Less than $300 for a fixture that would cost $5000 to have built. We will be buying a lot of these.

Professionally packaged and shipped. Yes, the 4-48 tip is very tight to un-screw! Put aluminum or brass sheet around plunger rod and hold with pliers while you unscrew the tip with another pair of pliers. Do not hold indicator body while unscrewing the factory tip.(why risk internal damage?) I verified the accuracy of travel with many random gage block stacks while indicator was squarely mounted. My unit was within .0005" over the 1" travel. All functions work perfectly. The top of plunger is exposed with a knurled cap. You can grab it and use to raise / lower the measurement tip (some indicators are sealed up top) After several decades of buying US made Machinist tools I cringe to buy Chinese. After purchasing and testing, I appreciate the value of their efforts. My application does not require .0001" resolution so this unit is perfect. No negatives.

I haven't actually used it yet, as a new job hasn't come in yet calling for it, but my coworkers and I are quite impressed with the design and quality of this tool... for such a reasonable price... ! I am sure it will do what needs to be done. We like that just one knurled knob tightens both shafts all a once... making it much easier to se up...

This has a good feel to the touch and easy to set in place for measurements. I used it to set my jointer blades to 0.0005 tolerance. It has a very strong magnet and easy to flip it on or off with one finger pressure. Much better than the old bar style and a needle sweep. I checked to my old indicator, that was 0.002 off and hard to repeat measurements with the needle sweep. I would buy it again!

This product was shipped promptly and it arrived in great shape. The magnetic holder is pretty solid and the gauge stays on a long time and it store the last reading when switched off (differently from previous review, this must have been a recent improvement). Seems like a great value and hope it lasts!

I ordered the -0105 and the data cable kit. I got a call direct from clockwise shortly thereafter. They were checking to make sure I got the right cable for the -0105. That is customer service at the best, heading off issues before they happen. The data transfer kit works great. I am really impressed with how well designed this all is. No fuss with drivers. just push the button on the box and the current value is transferred to a spreadsheet and a line return command is issued, moving to the next cell. There is also some trick you can do with pushing and holding to move one cell to the right. Good stuff.

The transfer cable works as if there was a keyboard typing the numbers in every time the button is released, which is convenient. Additionally, there is an external trigger via a 3.5mm jack that isn't well documented. This is useful if you want to use an Arduino (or other device) to automatically trigger a reading. Essentially take a spare 3.5mm jack and strip one half to expose the wires. It appears one wire will be 0V and the other will be an input. Attach the 0V to the Arduino's 0V and then the other to a digital pin. Pulse the pin high and then low. I've found the pulse must be atleast 250ms long otherwise it occasionally will miss the arduino's toggle.

I don't understand why I didn't purchase this indicator earlier. This is the only one I have that is accurate enough for my steelworking needs, and it's extremely consistent. I took measurements quite a few times on for my table and toolbox and it came back with the exact same readings each time. The ring is super easy to spin around, as well as the hand movement is quite smooth and responsive. I was concerned the hand movement be clock-y based on some of the reviews but that is not the case at all for me. There is a screw to lock the ring that has to be loosened, it's very obvious for its purpose and comes in handy. Anyway, this thing works great every time and is a pleasure to use. Money Well Spent!

I purchased the Clockwise Tools model DITR-0105 dial indicator (without the magnetic base unit) primarily for home shop use and my gunsmith and reloading hobbies. The product features an easy to read display that has good "dark" numerals that don't "fade out" when viewed at an angle. The unit I have also reflects feature upgrades made by Clockwise Tools since some of the earlier reviews on this product were written. These include: (1) The unit now retains the previous measurement... even if the unit "auto powers off" during lengthy operation. (2) It now uses the thin "coin cell" LITHIUM batteries rather than the older style's thicker shorter storage life LR44 alkaline battery type. (3) The data connector is now a small USB type. (4) All of the display digits are "full size" (except for the .00005 value digit )", even when using it in "inch based" mode. The product appears to be very well constructed, and I am quite pleased with its accurate performance thus far...even MORE SO considering its very modest price compared to comparable products. What absolutely puts this Clockwise Tools item it in a league of its own however is the AWESOME Customer Service the seller provides. I come from a Marketing background, and trust me on this... any company in business that I know of would be thrilled to be able to truthfully claim that they provide Customer Service at the same level as Clockwise Tools. I had a minor issue when I received my unit (due to my erroneous interpretation of the product specs) that resulted in several back and forth e-mails with Clockwise Tools. The representative assisting me (Vick) was quite courteous, extremely knowledgeable about the product, and ALWAYS very prompt and thorough with his reply correspondence. Without boring you with details... he went far, far beyond my expectations, especially given the modest price of the product. In terms of my Marketing position and our Customer Support team, we always strove to create a "wow factor" with every interaction with our end-user customers experiencing product difficulty or requiring additional assistance...in this respect Vick "knocked it out of the park"!!! I was so impressed with this experience that I looked to see what other Clockwise Tools items are offered on Amazon, and should I need one... will purchase it with no hesitation whatsoever. I just wish they had an even broader range of items available!!! My only "complaint" is that while the unit ships with both a flat back cover as well as a (lug style), the case will not close with the lug style attached... my Dremel tool came to the rescue for modifying the plastic case, sufficiently resolving this quite minor concern. But....Clockwise Tools' obvious willingness to consider improvement suggestions made by previous purchasers, I suspect that Clockwise Tools is "already working on it", and I'd be surprised if the case's blow mold tooling isn't revised at some point in the future to accommodate the lug attached to the unit. VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PURCHASE!!!
